In this tutorial i'll show you how to install Windows 10 on GPT disk using UEFI bootable USB, i'll show you briefly the main differences between MBR and GPT disks so you know why 3 terabyte disks show only 2 terabyte in MBR disks, how to change between MBR and GPT, and how to install windows 10.

I am. Worried when installing window os because I format laptop os drive and fall in trouble when window not install because I have no backup option to take backup drive in external hard disk because of gpt partion.. This doesn’t have to be so complicated, it’s very easy to do.. If you have a new hard drive your done, if it’s mbr clean it. And your done. Windows will convert it.

sir there is a issue. Boot time increase ho gya gya hai aur Boot bada flicker karta hai. Aap insta pe ho to bataiye screen shot bhejta hu.... Boot time me bada matlab color disbalance and glitch hota hai graphics me only at Boot time

Can you help me bro?? I made my pendrive bootable by gpt and when I tried to boot it wasn't able to boot it said change the setting and make it legacy and my pc was alrdey in legacy mode So i thought I should try with mbr everything worked fine untill i reach this point that the windows can not be installed in this partion when I saw the error it was something like it is gpt .... But the problem is i thought formatting the drive might help the process so i formatted it And it had the windows So now I'm stuck with the gtp error and i can't use rufus becz i formatted my drive so i cannot open my pc So will this method still work?? Without loosing any data from the other two drives that i have?

Sorry For The Late Reply. First You Have To Create A UEFI Bootable Pendrive And Restart Your System Ang Go To Bios And Change Legacy To UEFI Then Go Into The Windows Installation And Then Convert Your Disk To GPT And Then Install The Windows.

A warning to anyone who is thinking about using Rufus to format a drive: I downloaded it to my Windows machine and attempted to use it to format a USB drive for Elementary Linux. Not knowing which partition scheme I needed to use and unable to find assistance about this anywhere, I simply chose one and figured if it was wrong I could just go back and reformat the drive again. Wrong. The second time, it erased my whole Windows machine. You’d think it would be damn near impossible to erase your C drive given that Rufus is set up in such a way that you can't choose any drive except for a mobile drive. Yet somehow it changed the second time I ran the program, and this time it was pointed straight at my C drive and erased my entire computer. As you might imagine, this has been a horrible inconvenience. I don't even know how I'm going to get my Windows license back because it is a used machine and I don't technically own the license. My advice is to use Etcher.

Zenvir Travolta Oh! I'm sorry for losing your data, I hope you made a backup as i said in the video. Now your hard drive is of GPT or MBR ? Make sure that you windows 10 usb is compatibe with the type of your hard

i used refus to change the usb to gbt to install win 7 and start the install by selecting EFI boot source > mxt- usb the install worked fine but in the end it show error windows could not updade the computer's boot configuration now im stucked and cant install it or run the old win cuz i format partition c and i dont wanna lose the partition D data my pc is hp elite 8300 cmt i hope u understand my english ans help me thank u

Can you explain where you got the ISO that worked for the problem you describe starting at about 5:03, where the options in the "Create bootable disk" section don't appear? I got the ISO from Microsoft's download page. I'd like to install Windows to go on an external HD, but don't have the option, I can only create an installation disk.

Ok, I found what was wrong with one of the images I used, and fixed the problem... I also used WinToUSB and prepared the disk manually with diskpart this time. I guess it would have worked with Rufus as well doing this:The problem was not the ISO, it was (and no, that's never true) the virus scanner. I disabled it during the process, and everything worked...No need to upload anymore, but thanks nonetheless :-)

Really awesome. Didn't know it could be solved so easily by rufus. I got caught up in the same thing last year also. Had formatted the older windows without noticing the "next" button was unclickable, had to borrow friend's hard drive, install windows in that and use that to partition my disk as mbr using third party software then install windows in my disk. Wish I'd found this solution then. Anyways still really happy to found this solution as i was in the same exact problem now also.

i actually feel so bad for you. I understand it might not be common knowledge. But whenever you perform any command that is "clean" or anything related, it is 99.9999% of the time formatting the thing.

I know this video old but none of the commands shown in video works except convert mbr " invalid drive specification ". Every other command shows " 'list' is not recognizes as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file ". I'm not using rufus, i'm using regular windows installer, is that the reason?
