Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate how you mounted the winglets - very much appreciated. The biking community always comes together to help each other !! (even if I am on the far side of the world!!). I have fitted Michelin Pilot Road 6 GT tyres, have a new (Puig) tinted touring screen ordered and already got the winglets delivered. Hopefully these changes will improve the handling in "dirty" air. Safe riding to you!
I think that, before I start drilling holes in the fairings, I might try a different 3M adhesive pad to those supplied with the Winglets. I know Ralph said that they probably would be blown off but I can always buy another set (they're very cheap) if they do. I mounted a couple of spoilers on my Toyota CH-R just using the strong 3M tape and they never budged despite the Irish weather and at motorway speeds, so it should be worth a try. The trick is to prepare the surfaces properly by wiping with alcohol wipes, drying off and heat the 3M tape if the outside temperatures are low. Worth a shot as I said....
Just ordered a 2024 K1600 B, I am hoping that they have corrected some of these issues, but I’m extremely happy to see that there are options to correct this if not. Thank you for making this video, I too was curious about the installation of your winglets.
This helps very much. I just got the winglets for my bike and still waiting on the spoilers. I appreciate your tutorial on this and hopefully my GA will be a bit more stable at speed.
I'm now thinking there is more than one cause of weave/wiggles. I installed these winglets like you show and not only did they not solve the wiggle, but the extra downforce on the front end made the bike very twitchy on grooved pavement - to the point that you really have to pay attention to it when on less than pristine pavement. I've previously tried numerous solutions and have a 7Jurock screen, Michelin R6 GT tires and the Isotta side deflectors. Now I do have an '18 GA with the manual preload and I did notice that it was worse on the lowest setting and better on the highest (2up) setting but after a week of trying different settings I removed the winglets and the bike is better overall. Was really hoping this would at least cut down on the instability.
Not really, got just over 10,000 miles out of mine. Never ride with less than 42psi, coast through tight corners (it’s not a sport bike) and anything over 6-7000 miles is a gift!
Swapped the windshield and tires to Road 6GT's myself already. Made it better but still didn't get rid of the wobble 100% - Ordered some winglets today. I'll be pretty mindblown if this fixes the issue for me.
Hey Ralph just picked up a left over 2023. Im experiencing that side to side motion. You say these are lower in the middle, would raising the rear suspension if possible take care off that issue? What do you think. I love the bike but that side to side dance that it does sucks.
Broooo We all like you but we are here to see the wing not your face this time show us wTF you doing there Last all video I watched your cute face now this ( And please give us some links tooo
@ralpheglass thank you. I notice between 75 to 85 it gets a little wind wobble. I have yet to change out my windscreen or get the sideshields. I did do a BT moto Brentune with freedom performance exhaust. World of difference. Also got the GT road 6 michelin tires.
