I called this video the magic bullet for two months I have tried to install wordpress using different tutorial, this very one finally answered my prayer more grace
This video is brilliant, even if you are working on Mac. If you are on Mac though the XAMPP servers load up automatically by default, you do not have to adjust that. Thanks, the vid was awesome, keep up the good work!!
@@wilbourneftdrakevevos9868 You can simply delete the target site folder from your localhost "htdocs" folder. Then you can also delete the associated database from phpMyAdmin. Then you can create a new database and use that on a fresh copy of WordPress. If this sounds complex, you can just create a new localhost site on a different folder inside htdocs. Please let us know if this comment helped. Thanks.
You rock!! Thank you is not enough! Struggled for so long with just this part. As soon as I make my first dollar I will donate. Because I’ve been working at this for so long and you have helped me so much.

@Devansh Anand, for localhost, if you're just experimenting, you can type any email. But, if you plan to use that site on a live server, then you should use a real email where you can access your password reset and activation emails. (I assume you asked about the admin user account email). I hope it explains. Please let us know if you need more information. Thanks!
This tutorial so nice and simple. I learn a lot, but some stuff not works for me, like backup and migration. But then I discover instawp and it solves all my problems!
Sorry to bother you, is it able to change the mySQL port to other ports rather than the default one (3306)? btw, your video is amazing, it helps me to solve the problem!!!! thanks a lot.
It's no bother at all! As for your question, yes you can change your MySQL port to a different port in XAMPP. To do that open up your XAMPP > Click on the 'Config' button on the top right corner > Click on 'Service and Port Settings' > Click on 'MySQL' tab > Here you can find the 'Main Port' field, change it to whatever port you wish. That's the fastest way to change the port of MySQL in XAMPP. Thank you so much for your comment.
Hi, localhost is for practice and experiment. You'll need to purchase a server based hosting plan to build a live website. If you need help with this, we can work for you. Thanks.
I'm getting an error when I try to connect my database. I have entered the credentials the same as you for DB name, username, password, host and table prefix. However, I get the error "Error establishing a database connection - This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or that contact with the database server at localhost could not be established. This could mean your host’s database server is down." Any ideas what the issue may be? I have checked and Xampp server is still running and the credentials definitely match the db name
This is a common error in WordPress. We face this error when the server cannot access the database. There are a few ways to fix this, but for localhost, there is an effective method that you can try. Method: Create a user for your database - Go to localhost/phpMyAdmin from your browser (From where you created your database) - Then select the database that you created for your WordPress website and click on ‘Privileges’ tab on top - Then at the bottom you will find an option called “Add user account”. Click on it. - In here you have to do the following things: - Create a username (Use text field): (can be anything you want) - Hostname (Use text field): localhost - Password (Use text field): any password of your choosing. - After giving a username, hostname and a password. Scroll down and you’ll find “Global privileges” checkbox. Here click on “Check all” checkbox Click ‘Go’ at the bottom Now after creating a user for this database, go back to your WordPress installation and insert the new user credentials (username, password, database host) along with the name of the database and it should work. If the above mentioned method does not work, then try running the setup one more time from scratch. Best wishes. Thanks.

How do I get back to the main page of wordpress to edit the page?. I put on localhost/wordpress and it gets me to the page already created. How do I edit it from now?
Tried this many times, always get an error: Cannot select database: The database server could be connected to (which means your username and password is okay) but the database could not be selected.
Dear viewer, some users face this same error. Luckily there's a solution. According to some references, you can try the following solution: Open wp-admin/install.php in your browser. It will take you through the process to set up a wp-config.php file with your database connection details. 1. If for some reason this does not work, do not worry. Open up wp-config-sample.php with a text editor like WordPad or similar and fill in your database connection details. 2. Save the file as wp-config.php and upload it (replace the existing one with it). 3. Open wp-admin/install.php in your browser. Hopefully now you won't face this error.
Help me pls! I try to find phpMyAdmin link but it just does not exist on xxamp site. I finally found it on google but phpAdmin wants me to enter a login and password but i do not know which one should I enter.... idk what should i do :(
You are an absolute life saver. I've been unable to learn WordPress for about a month now due to the difficulty in installation. And your video fixed everything. Thank you so much.🙇
You're skilled as an instructor. Thanks for this video -- straightforward and no unnecessary scrolling or moving the screen all over the place as some others are guilty of doing (motion sickness!) 🙂
I spent a day trying to install Wordpress on windows using at least 5 or 6 tutorials and all failed to work, then I came across you and it worked 1st-time. Thanks.

Hi, Did you try to download the old WordPress version from here: wordpress.org/download/releases/ ? Then, can you try to install the downloaded old version from the beginning? Thanks.
If the database credentials are incorrect, you can create a new user for the database with its own custom username and password. Then use those to connect to the database. Here is how to create a user for your database: - Go to localhost/phpMyAdmin from your browser (From where you created your database) - Then select the database that you created for your WordPress website and click on ‘Privileges’ tab on top - Then at the bottom you will find an option called “Add user account”. Scroll down and you’ll find “Global privileges” checkbox. Here click on “Check all” checkbox Click ‘Go’ at the bottom Good luck!

For two months I have failed to install WordPress using different tutorials from many different videos. This one finally got all the steps in proper sequence - and in a clear manner! "AGT Golden Buzzer"! Best delivered song ever!
Hi. Thanks for this. I have wordpress installed now and working. However there are certain plugins that create fata errors when activating, but work ok on a live site. Any ideas why this happens. Thanks
