@@dive.cats-per I-10: The Ben 10 User Generated Experience, SotO is meant to be the Original Series’ finale. It was presumably just produced earlier in the season for budgetary reasons.
2:35 Wait...is no one gonna bring up the fact that they have a whole exchange of dialogue directly confirming that the tick destroyed Cannonbolt's species? If I'm not mistaken, a creator of the classic series even said that they were a pacifist or peaceful species by nature and therefore did not fight it, and it was Ben who used human ingenuity and aggression and weaponized their biology to defeat the Tick.
The writers went ahead and stepped it up in Omniverse, from having a whole episode for an alien transformation to having a whole arc around an alien transformation.
I'd have said that Rath was another unique method of unlocking an alien - electrical interference from a Lewodan, unlocking the transformation for a species that the Lewodans have a long history with
I know how: 1. Show the Alien's Silhouette/Hologram in the Omnitrix 2. Make Ben say "wOw, a NeW aLiEn!!!!" 3. Make him slam the Omnitrix core 4. And Damn! He turns into the new Alien!!
I personally hated how it wasn’t ever really an event after classic… like the mummy appeared once but it was special, spitter is the same, Blitzwolfer has my favorite classic episode from season 3 aside from be afraid of the dark
2:08 its been stated in the wiki that Wildvine's species and the walking mushroom minions are from the same planet. I don't know if this is actually true or if someone made it up. 2:35 If I remember right, the episode that introduces Cannonbolt confirms this idea. One of the followers of the Tick, the big guy with the axe, recognizes Canonbolt's species and say something like "we destroyed your world last week" 3:45 Ben gets new aliens off screen all the time, including ones we haven't seen. In omniverse he says he has more than 70 aliens when, by that point, we had seen less than 60 aliens.
The annur aliens were unlocked via touch(the loboan scratches the watch, the thepft khufan grabs it with a bandage and dr viktor full on manhandled it)
what's fun about ben mentioning that he would've liked to have a vilgax transformation, is that that ends up being paid off in the reboot funnily enough where he does sort of get a vilgax transformation lol
5:48 Actually snare-oh's dna was collected in the episode the Mummy first appeared. Towards the end when it tries to expose ben to the corrodium it makes direct contact with the omnitrix and Max even says "The omnitrix, its sampling the mummy's dna". As for Dr Viktor u are correct that we never actually see the omnitrix in direct contact for it which was always weird because the anur aliens all had the dna capture sequence except for him Edit: Also ben didnt collect the Incursion dna, Azmuth just unlocked the transformation for him lol. Just pops up and is like here ya go. The weirdest one for me cause azmuth never does that except for Waybig
Really cool video concept! It's also interesting that not all of the original 10 have the first time Ben uses them shown on screen. The 4 from episode 1 do, but XLR8 is only shown his de-transformation, then it's implied Ben and Gwen are already familiar with Grey Matter, but are shocked by Four Arms and Stinkfly, then the remaining 3, Ripjaws, Upgrade, and Ghostfreak are all shown as though they've already been used before. I like the Original Series' way of doing things. Cannonbolt and Wildvine you can headcanon explanations for, and Upchuck/Way Big were inputted directly, but others like Ditto are completely arbitrarily unlocked. The Anur Aliens introducing the scanning function is really cool, but then season 4 outright ignores they exist (outside of future Ben using Snare-Oh/Benmummy in Ken 10). The fact neither Eye Guy scene was ever definitively the first time the characters have seen him, creates a fan debate around him. I agree with you that he was probably unlocked off-screen. The hill I'll die on is that Negative 10 is set before Secret of the Omnitrix, the Pop Up Trivia for SotO regarding Animo's experiments with Clancy prove that. Paired with the Eye Guy intro not even being the 100% canonical scene, IDK why people think that's when he was first used (I think Kuro/YoItsMatt say it's because Gwen first calls him by name then, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have gone unnamed in Negative 10). I like the Benwolf episode, but it did create that thinking that everything has to be an alien, while before things like The Krakken could just exist as cryptids like in Secret Saturdays, and magic didn't need to be an alien thing like in AF. I also don't know if the Yenaldooshi thing is offensive or not TBH. I don't know if I like the retcon that the Anur aliens were already in the Omnitrix and the scanning was just unlocking them. The UAF/OV ways of doing it did take away some of the hype around new aliens. Maybe it's nostalgia talking but every alien after the Andromeda 5 usually fell flat with a few exceptions.
Wildvine was able to communicate telepathically with the mycellium, right? Since the omnitrix's intended purpose is diplomatic communication, this might be why Wildvine was spontaneously unlocked.
Yes the secret of the omnitrix movie has 3 opening variants. One with xlr8, one with heatblast, and one with eyeguy. He also doesn’t transform on screen and Gwen comments that it took him a while to find them so Ben already being comfortable with his powers would make sense since he had a little time to figure him out. Gwen calls him eye guy though and Ben later just says the name casually too so either she just coined the name in that moment or Ben already got the transformation earlier
Nice vid dude. Also,im pretty sure that the mummy touched the omnitrix in his debut, when holding ben and dr viktor grabbed the watch when tossing Ben.For transyl tho I think the watch did obtain DNA just from being close to him.Though for transyl its the completed omnitrix.
@@pgnnotthnvr4616 Ben's exact words were "he fixed that problem I was having with the randomizer, and gave me the Omnitrix's lock code for Incursean DNA." Clearly emphasise that an Incursean transformation was available within the Omnitrix, just locked off.
I know its just my headcannon but i always figured the random unlocks were the omnitrixs ai deeming ben good enough with his previous transformations to learn a new one but thats just me
A couple things. 1) I believe it is confirmed that the Tick wiped out Cannonbolt's homeworld by one of its followers when it first shows up. 2) The Mummy, Victor, and Zs'scare actually did touch the omnitrix for Ben to get Snare-Oh, Frankenstrike, and Ghostfreak (again).... There was never any "species sensing" or whatever in the OG series... getting a new form based on a nearby alien (without direct contact) only happens when Ben activly turns the Omnitrix into capture mode (which he didn't know how to do at the time), or when the Omnitrix forces itself into capture mode to get new DNA (as shown latter). And while I can agree that the Benwolf/Blitzwolfer introduction was the best introduction of a new alien... one issue with it is that it only works once... the mystery was a big part of it, but the indicator and the how was given to us. So it can't pull that mystery again on us as we will just know "The Omnitrix went to capture mode, we're getting a new alien."
Mushrooms and other fungi are actually more closer to animals than plants. But yeah the alien werewolf episode was one of the best episodes of classic, it was visually one of the best too and the night scenes with the stars was at the level of Secret of the Omnitrix
What about reintroducing aliens ? Like how Feedback was seemingly destroyed completely but later Ben reunlocked it while fighting the same person who destroyed it.
2:37 they said in Cannonbolts debut episode that his homeworld was destroyed by the tick. Now if that has any correlation past unlocking it, I don't believe so because the "randomly added" 3 at the alien force 2 finale I believe was confirmed to be the classic non-ghostfreak anur species. Either way, the fact that he hasn't scanned characters like, for example, Verdona is a combination of the plot not needing that specific form (this and agregor being specifically because of gwen and kevin) and increasingly better software not randomly popping out new forms without reason.
I wonder if there are any transformations in the Omnitrix that Ben himself is incompatible with? I know using Zy'Skayr as the basis for Ghostfreak was a bad call on Azmuth's part. But I'm curious if there would be any other aliens that would fall into a similar category.
Upgrade doesn't completely fuse Ben's DNA with the sample, that's the reason for why he doesn't remember the machinery he fused with and the lack of voice change
@DrWardy the big tick did take out CB planet, all of the monsters had touched the watch and thus handed their DNA scanned, those are just what I remember off the top of my head since I watched the video yesterday
