you forgot probably two things regarding SGB. 1) interest from SGB is not tax free but TAXABLE 2) SGB are sold at a higher rate than prevailing market rate but redeemed at market rate

Income tax is applicable on 2.5% interest payable on SGBs.

Sir In SGB, The interest we get is 1.25% half yearly which comes to 2.5% Yearly. Not 2.75% yearly as u mentioned in video. Thanks for nice information.

Hello Sanjay ji.. Very informative video as usual.. Thank you for this.. i am watching this video little late but I have a question related to this. If i purchase SGB from secondary market I can pledge it with my broker and get margin against it but in this case can I get annual interest for this if yes where do i get interest? in my bank account or my Demat or Trading Account. Secondly if i purchase SGB from my bank portal (From primary market at the time of issue of any new SGB series) can i pledge it with my broker and get margin against it? if yes what is the procedure? Request you to please post part 2 of above video which will be helpful for many investors.. Thank you in advance.. 🙏

Sir, you told what its advantages are but what are its disadvantages... Sovereign Gold Bonds... like Sahara Company and some government institutions can also fail sometimes in the long run and this will make the domestic investors less interested in such new methods. This creates confusion and fear of investment... and the government also makes it clear that if some banks fail to pay the amount in our bank account... then they have to pay only Rs 5 lakh. keeping money in banks is also taking more risks than this. Please guide us. 🙏🏻
