New Grey Market Episode: "My Plan to CRUSH $130 Million in Sales in 2024"
• How I'm Going to Sell ... -~-
It's time for another collab video and this time I'm joined with Live Traders. The stock market is a great place to build wealth but there is more than just one type of investment. Watches are an asset class of their own and they're a great place to park your money. Passion investments are especially appealing because even if you dont make money on it, you'll be happy owning it.

WATCHES ARE NOT F>>ING INVESTMENTS because the watches that have performed just as well as mutual funds or any high performance stock cost a sh.t load of money to purchase. So, the average man would rather investment in stocks of mutual funds rather than a $200,000 Patek Philippe. The only class of watches that are affordable and can have significant price increase is Rolex and the big question is: How do we know that the price increase is not artifical. Let us say it is not artificial or even if it is, a vintage rolex sub. costs roughly $14000, again, this is not for the average man, it is for folks with a lot of disposable money that can afford to buy a Rolex with the secondary intention that it may go up in price. I do not think Tom Cruise, George Clooney and co. wake up in the morning checking chrono24 if their watches have gone up in value. People just have to be careful when they get in to watches, you can purchase intelligently with the intention of retaining a good chunk of the watches value but to see it as investment, very bad idea.

Invaluable video right here! I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again: No one has given this much info about the watch industry on RU-vid more than Roman! Good job my man! Keep it up!

If you are purchasing a watch as an investment, surely, by wearing it wou are compromising its resale value. OK if your enjoyment of the item comes from knowing you have it in a box, in a safe. Furthermore, by putting your money in 'a safe bet', by which I mean Rolex for example, you cannot get the hot models at list in the first place, so already your initial investment is compromised. I agree with Roman, buy/wear what you like and enjoy it. If or when you decide to move on from that particular watch then take whatever money you get and treat it as a bonus. The analogy has been made before, a watch as an investment is like a car as an investment. Generally you loose. Only a very small percentage of cars appreciate in value! The only people benefitting from this are the brokers. If you want a watch, buy a watch. If you want to invest, stick it in the bank, stocks or property!

The Breguet Type XX ( Air ) and the Blancpain Aqualung ( Sea ) are grail watches for vintage collectors. Value on iconic vintage timepieces are increasing over time while it might fluctuate with the new watches. With all the money printing by the Central Banks, the value of the money is decreasing and you need to diversify your investment ( bank interest rate at Zero ). All investments ( stocks, watches, etc. ) need experience, so the first lesson is to invest what you can afford to loose and know your risk when you enter a trade or make a purchase. Interesting colab video by the way.

Hey Roman, Insightful episode as usual. Is it worth purchasing an insurance plan for your watch collection? Not sure spending 2% in premiums is worth it

however, most of the stock market went up after they dipped, moved up 100+%, some watches did, but most did not. very very few watches do better than stocks, but it's always good to be divested.

It's hard to understand in this incredible tech run-up since the March 23rd dip that these guys are contemplating and commenting on watches. You could have thrown darts at any big cap tech stocks from FAANG to semis to software and made +50% in 3 months (let's not even address TSLA) . Last I checked you can purchase any stock you want, when you want it, on credit (margin). Better to make real money investing and then buy whatever you want. How much money would watch "investors" have if they had sunk that same 15k in AMZN, AAPL, NFLIX, NVDA, SHOP or whatever x number of years ago. As Roman says, watches are not investments. I guess the right ones are certainly better than the pathetic interest earned in a bank account. Just my two cents. I love watches too.

A $300 watch fifty years ago is equal to $2,000 today. $500 in 1970 is equal to $3,300 in 2020. LOL @ the possibility of a $2,000 IWC or JLC. Currently there is a wasteland between ~$1,000 top of the "regular" watch tier and the $3-4,000 _start_ of the luxury market. If you're just a dude (like me) who wants a really good watch without all the trappings of luxury there is really nothing out there for you.

I'm guessing it's the same rule as how to make a small fortune in a football (soccer) club: there is only one way to make a small fortune from owning a football club - and that’s to start off with a large fortune!
@342boss

Not at all. If you stay in your lane and know your stuff, you can flip watches as a nice side hustle. Doesn't need to be a $10K investment to make $100. Breitling, Omega, Tag, whatever. Stick with well known brands. Build connections. Don't buy anything you wouldn't mind being stuck with.

Why would you have these grifters on your show and legitimise them as actual traders? As soon as either of them opens their mouth you can tell they've never worked at a professional trading desk nor successfully traded any class of securities. If they did, they wouldn't be selling bs courses to people. Ever heard of alpha? Trading gurus are the worst kind of snake oil salesman. As a tip to anyone who wants to start learning, all the info that these guys sell you is free on the internet or via a 5$ book from Amazon, nothing they 'teach' is special or complex or even helpful. Otherwise, I enjoyed Roman's part because when he speaks about the topic you can actually tell he works in the industry.
