yeah. so far, this is the best tutorial. I've learned it a year ago but I've come to visit 'cause I would recommend this video to a friend. Any other videos are showing the whole bunny hop thing and it looks very easy. But as a beginner would try it. They just can do it and as a newbie(I when I was), it's very frustrating. This is the best because it comes with stages where a new learner can do the basics with ease. Thank you very much Performance Bicycle for creating this.

A nice demo! Ensure that the chainring has enough clearance for your jump. Some hardtails have very short ground clearance & you do not want to crunch the chainring into a log!

Great video. Especially for beginners. I would like to add, that it is always best if you can land on your rear wheel first. You will have more control over your bike as well as well as its better on the frame and suspension. The best way to practice is actually to draw a line on the ground next to a wall. Then set a ruler or yard stick (meter stick if metric) up against the wall. Now yoy can do one or the other depending on what you have or don't have available. That is take a camera and set it

Kool vid. Im new to fullbor any suspension type bikes. IMO they make it harder to get off of the ground. Seems like the shocks SAP alot of energy on the way up. They also through off my timing and add alot of weight. But i can't believe so many people don't know how to do a bunny hop in general. Don't most ppl grow up on bmx style bikes? Anyway I'll give suspension bikes a summer while I try to adjust then its back to a hardtail for me!!
@MWElectric
@MWElectric 8 лет назад
no shit huh. I had a few really nice bmx style bikes myself. A haro, a g.t. (which we were so young we really didn't know what G.T. even stood for. So we would joke and say it stood for "girl's t!+! €$" because you had to say something. LoL. I know now It stands for Grand Tour. I also had a legit "BMX" However my absolute favorite 20 inch bike I rode for years was a Mongoose I customized. (long before mongoose went full big box store lamo n sold out to Walmart n ToysRus) I just always remember the relationship I had with that particular bike. Even know I had 15-20 others that were lighter (my elf) and much more expensive (my specialized probably highest retail price I paid for a 20 in) But my Goose, just was rock solid! Dependable, predictable, and not real flashy. So I could set it down at the track and not be so stressed out about it getting stolen. Because their were at lease 10-15 other bikes that were much more likely to disappear before mine. I still love and prefer a 20 inch bmx when it's built right! And I'm 6'. I mean to ride out front n bunny hop my kids wagon or something. Their so much lighter, easier to manipulate, lower to the ground, less moving parts to fail and just so much more responsive then their much bigger brothers... The mountain bike. But obviously if I'm going any further then the front yard, I grab my trek! The shox, the gears, the larger tires, they just tear through the woods around here. I have even come to like the stupid handlebar bell that my bike shop owner talked me into. It let's my kids and other riders know exactly where I am on the trail. Great for the kids too. They get a lil far ahead sometimes and theirs 1 or 2 lil nasty cliffs that will dump u in the creek if u don't slow down b4 the turn. But biking is awsome. A great family activitie. Can't wait to get out this season with some more aggressive riders and see how far some of these ladies n gents will push it. Around here, Phila. The opportunity is endless. I have seen guys do down hills that I wouldn't try to walk down yet. ;-) but I have also seen a bunch of ppl show up in jerseys n shades wit 2 and 3 water bottles and protein bars, just to find out they don't intend to pass 3rd gear. Or go anywhere near a single track. :-0 Reguardless, I have fun every time I'm out. So do my kids. One popular spot I ride is penny pack park. Theirs a few nice single tracks bak there still. On the agenda this season though is *wissahickin spelled wrong. And theirs a high school near me that has a few events a year in the woods behind it. I think it's Oxford Valley h.s. Supposed to be some of the most intense trails in the area. Looking forward to that one. Then my buddy has some land (and a backhoe) that we are going to carve a few banks, down hills and jumps into. Should be fun. Well you guys can obviously tell how excited I am to get out there. If u live near me n just dealt with old man winter, I'm sure u feel the same. Be safe out there and don't forget to take a kid, nephew, neighbor out with ya a few times this season. Cause that's what it's all about! Passing on an epic, beautiful sport to someone else, so they can do the same.

do you attach your feet to the pedals using a special type of cycle pedals or do you use the basic platform pedals that are available on all cycles? It seems it will be impossible to lift back-end of cycle with basic pedals.

Performance Bicycle HI ..thank you for replying back. Can you please explain the difference between CLIP pedals and CLIPLESS pedals.
@performancebike
@performancebike 9 лет назад
5AMM0608 Cycling racing pedals used to be composed of a traditional pedal platform, with an attached “toe clip” that, combined with a strap, would hold a rider’s foot in place for greater efficiency. When the first clipless pedals were introduced, they were noted for being able to hold the rider’s foot on the pedal without a toe clip. Hence, clipless pedals.

Just a quick question... what pedels are you using? Clipless or flats?... I've been struggling with my flats to do stuff like this and im thinking of getting clipless...?
@calvin2032
@calvin2032 9 лет назад
Stickymicky25 He is using clipless. Using clipless for hopping is like using cheat codes...which is why I like it. It is possible to hope with flats. The key is pointing your toes down a bit and dragging your feet straight back. This gives you kind of a pressure fit between the pedals and the bars (like doing a chimney when climbing) and allows you to hop. I can get okay height on a stationary bunny hop, but clipless takes the thinking out of it and you just jump.

calvin2032 I've never ridden with clips my entire life,and I'm 36! Once you learn how to hop,your all good! Finding videos with guys who don't use clips to hop,is starting to look like finding Bigfoot!! LOL!! I'm scared to clip in!!LOL
@calvin2032
@calvin2032 9 лет назад
im2tall1 I prefer being clipped in on the down. Foot is always in the right position and not going to get bounced off over rougher terrain. Not good for learning wheelies though.

@boogersnut
@boogersnut 9 лет назад
Eoin Simpson To do it without clips, you first need to practice lifting the backend up while rolling. Simply point your toes downwards and push your feet down and back. This technique is called and endo. Practice going up a curb then endo'ing the rear over the curb so it doesn't touch. Wehn you mastered this technique, you are then ready to move onto what we used to call the "bronco" which is what now everyone calls a bunnyhop, where you lift your front tire, then the rear.

To get the front wheels of the ground, pushing down on your front tire (loading) then pulling up and back as the front tire rebounds wile applying pressure to the pedals. the will cause the front tire to come off the ground (unwaiting).
