When most players think about their vertical jump, they think about their legs; quads, hamstrings, calves, etc. If you're not incorporating your core and upper body, though, you're NOT maximizing your vertical jump and are limiting your athleticism because of it. In today's video, Coach Alan breaks down how to use your upper body to truly maximize your vert!

I have been saying this to players forever... you can build your vertical jump a ton with the right upper body workout

It depends on how hard you are working and the kind of program that you are on.

Coach i tried the drills and now i can shoot from the two corner but when i shot from the top of the key i feel i've enough power Should i do some exercise in weight room?

Federico Vannozzi try some chest exercises and maybe get a little more under your legs . When I stopped working out for a while I could feel I had to push harder to get the ball to the rim vs when I was in the gym regularly it was a simply catch and fire .

Train like gymnast. This is what I do, I am calisthenic athlete and lately turn my workout to vertical jump. I incorporate my bodyweight training + explosive trainings at the gym and it gives me extreme power for plyos.

If I'm going to give you a workout to improve explosiveness and power for vertical. That is clean and press and if you're already fatigued, isolate your muscles with romanian deadlift.

Explode and finish through toes like a calf raise for the 1st one? I figure adding in the raise makes it more jump like. Strengthen feet ankles calves etc

correct, and upper body will help you with momentum to jump higher as well

generally 10-16 reps for 3-5 sets ... at least thats what I instruct my players to do

@@bballcoachallen i would say 5 sets for more advanced and 3-4 and then like 10-12 reps for regular intermediate
