Neolamprolagus leleupi and Julidochromis transcriptus are the subject of this week's species profile. In this video you will learn how to keep and breed both the Lemon Cichlid and the Masked Julie.
Jesus this is the most informative fish video ive seen on RU-vid. I almost feel like I was sitting on class. Great job post more videos like this highly informative and enjoyable
sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost my login password. I would love any assistance you can give me
@Zev Saint Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I have a tank with both of these and i love watching them interact I have a 40g with tons of rocks, plants and wood and 4 lelupi 3 transcpritus 1 gold face compressiceps 1 rainbow shark 2 snowball pleco
I'm so digging the transcriptus!! What a super rare beauty! Very hard to get here in Pensacola FL unless you take out a mortgage to cover shipping cost and buy them online!
Great effort here - however I would like to clear up one error. Julidochromis are found on the South West coast line as well. There several "Morphs" of Juli's found in Zambian waters. Just so you know.
2:45 The World's Most Vicious Goldfish Leleupi can change color slowly, so if you give them a dark substrate they will become darker. I use white gravel in a 40 gallon breeder. Water much like yours, high pH.
Very informative video and great looking fish and tank. I really like how you have the two species living and breeding in the same tank and the color differences between the two.
Fantastic review of these fish and their behaviors. I can tell you this is one of the best review of these fish I have seen in a very long time. Are you still in the aquarium hobby? Are you going to do more fish videos, I noticed most are about a year old or so.... thanks for producing this video.
I am still in the hobby, just not to the extent I used to be. A move about a year ago meant that I had to tear down all my tanks to relocate. I have set most of them back up, but haven't made any aquarium videos since. I took a break from RU-vid for a while after moving and have just gotten back into it over the last month or so. I do still love the hobby and have plans for more aquarium videos soon.
@@BeastleyTV cool, I wish you the best in your new location and I subscribed just in case you come back to RU-vid. What state are located in? I am in S. Fla, not sure if you move to FL?
Hello from 🇬🇧 . I have a spawning pair of Juli's. Tbe young are taking ages to get to a size where I can put them with my adult Dwarf Cichlids. I have been looking into getting Leleupi.
Did you raise your transcriptus from a group of juveniles to get them to put up or vent adults and put them together? I’ve heard if they don’t pair up they don’t breed. Is that true?
I surely wish you would tell us what plants you have sucess with in your aquariums. I have spawned both of these fish. The leleupei were in a 55 gal with a trio of neolamprologus brichardi and several large Haps. They held their own. The J. transscriptus started as group in a 20 long. After I removed the ones that had missing tails or other damage, the remaining pair became quite prolific.
New sub here :) wish I didn't have to work I want to watch a few more lol. Love the africans from this lake.Only problem I see is you need MORE CONTENT LOL
There’s something wrong with my juli. He schools with my cyprichromis and swims to the surface to get food or if he sees me. He’s almost never in his rocks.
Would this stock work for a 36 gallon, since you seem knowledgable in Lake Tanganyika cichlids. 8 Multies 2 Calvus (Will keep multies population under control) 2 Masked Julies
The Julies and the Calvus May clash if there’s not plenty of rock work for them to claim as there own. If you were to do this, I’d recommend doing big rock formations on opposite sides of the aquarium and shells in the middle to keep clear separation of territory. It would be much easier in a larger tank, but it would be very difficult to keep that arrangement in a smaller tank.
Right now I have a leleupi in my 40 gallon with 5 Shellies and about 6 Julie melierie. He seems to be somewhat nippy towards the Shelly's. I think he needs more caves.
There are several variables such as tank size to take into account, but in general, as long as they each have their separate territories, they should be fine.
@@BeastleyTV Well, thanks. My tank isnt big 60 litres, (yes, i know it may sound to small) but at least i will try to give them as many hiding spots as i can. Eventually i will replace one species with Neolamprologus Buescheri
First off let me start by saying I found your videos to be extremely informative. I recently got 2 Lake Tanganyika fish, I would appreciate it if you could check my channel out and veiw my last post to possibly give me some tips. I hope that you be putting out more contact in the future
Yeah. It would be nice if you could mix and match. I had the male leleupi in a peacock tank while he was growing out, and all was fine for a while. Once he got to his adult size he became a real jerk and had to be moved. Definitely not advised.
