Just a video on how we keep our chickens cool in the summer here in Florida. The A/C system creates about a 20 degree temperature differential for the coop.
Here's the cooler I use in the video: amzn.to/39rMsG8
The 4" elbow sport pipe: amzn.to/3axzJl8
Thermometer: amzn.to/2VOvZrE
Fan used on the cooler: amzn.to/39D09Ss

all good stuff! We all want our girls happy! ! ! . I just watched a video where a guy puts bricks in water, the birds stand/sit on the bricks , the water seeps up the pores and it keeps them cool...

No, not at all excessive. I live in the desert and we get up to 120. I love this idea! I love the fact that you care, it looks easy and doesn’t cost much. I’ll be adding this system to the coop I’m building. Great idea! Thank you so much for sharing. Happy chickens are the best chickens

I think that's the greatest idea ever!! When I think of the cruel things that people do to chickens it makes me sick so this is a blessing to see someone that actually cares about their animals, and I don't care what kind of animals they are, they all suffer from a lot of the same things we do like the Heat!! May God bless you and your family ❤️😃🙏 I also agree with one of your other posts that everyone should take care of all animals!! Again may God bless you and your family ❤️🙏

Practical solution. But I believe that if you would pull the air that you are forcing over the ice from under the coop where you are cooling the chickens, you will be using air of lesser temperature and therefore your ice should last longer. Just a thought.

sorry I dont understand this trying to learn but why would negative pressure be a lower tempature than possitive pressure?

@@bunney73 I know this is an old comment. But I believe they meant recirculating the air from the cool side of the chicken coop as opposed to pulling the warmer air directly from outside.

Thank you so much for posting this. It is an excellent idea and not excessive at all. My husband and I have always felt that if we are going to have animals, then it is our responsibility to take the best care possible of them we can. We are building a new coop this summer and we will be making one of these as well. Keep up the good work!

Don't let the haters bring you down! I do the same thing with my chickens, I'm also in fl.. it gets really hot for them. When they start panting that's when they are to hot. You can also hose them down with water and also put big pans of water in they run area. When they get to hot they will stop laying eggs.

Love this so much!! 👏🏻🙌🏻You are an awesome chicken keeper!! I live in south Texas and it’s crazy hot. My girls even stopped laying due to the heat. I freeze ltr and 1/2 gallon bottles put them out with battery powered fans to keep them cool…They lay right next to them and after one day they started laying again!! The plus is they are not suffering!!! No animal should period. My freezer is full with them so I can change them out regularly. Love this idea! Gonna have to show my hubby.😁

I have same setup, but mine is recirculating drawing in air from cool coop using 2(1-inlet 1-outlet) inline boat exhaust blowers with rotary speed controllers. Is solar with 1 battery for evening use. When my rooster is done playing in water he will stand in front with wings spread bobbing head.

Hey, just wanted to comment on this older video and say thank you for the idea. My wife and I want to get some hens like I had when I was a kid, but didn't want to subject them to 100+ degree texas weather. Fantastic idea, not excessive at all, and thank you!

Wow, this is awesome! It totally makes sense. I’ve got to find your video on how you made this. We’re in the south and the heat gets unbearable. The heat index has been hovering around 100 - 107* and we do everything we can think of to cool our chickens off. It usually works but the one hen in particular seems to pant more than the others so that’s why I’m on your channel. By the way, your coop is beautiful!

This is great, we live in SW Florida and it’s May and it’s been so HOT, I literally check on my chickens non stop. My husband and I have been considering putting in a window AC and running it off solar to help keep them cool. I figure if I can get the coop and run area 20 degrees cooler than the outside temp that should help a ton. I really like you’re ice and cooler method though, especially for the run, thank you for caring about your chickens,

I love it! I am feeling bad for mine while it's so hot. I am going to do something like this plus I wanted to make a swamp cooler anyway. Keeping the girls happy is what it's all about. I also have a baby monitor in their coop so I can hear what might be going on at night. I have a very large shed which is my girls home and a 20' x 45 foot yard with bird netting over the top and a tarp over part of it for extra shade because it's all sun.

You can also put ice water in a shallow pan, they will stand in it. It cools their feet which in turn cools them. One thing i found out the hard way, do not hose the chicken down. It creates mold and other problems on them, a little misting is fine

I'm gonna try the ice chest cooler for a chicken we have. I've found they can get by on hot summer days, not very comfortable for them of coarse but if the heat goes above 110-115 they will generally die of heat stroke.

Put a flat low tub of water with loads of bricks in it in the shade. The bricks will absorb the water and evaporate and cools the air above it. The chickens will love you for it as they stand and sit on the bricks. It is cheaper than your option and the heat will operate it. Just keep it filled with water but not over the brick level. The brick needs to absorb the water.
