Gene Shepard of Rock Ridge, Arizona, covers a lot of ground in this episode: Many traditions and their origins, such as the Navajo hair bun and the plant that arrows are made from, are explained. We've even got a new camera boy who hopped in the truck with us, and Gene's wife joins in the conversation as we touch on how to keep the traditions and stories alive. Join us as we wrap up our time in Rocky Ridge.

It is not a surprise that anyone of us has been in places that was not good. These are things that the old people can teach us to recognize and avoid

I grew up here in Los Angeles im Navajo. I didn't get to learn Navajo language or the culture. But as im getting older im aearching. Both of my parent's have passed on. My mother spoke about schooling or how she ended up here in California. But deep down im proud to be Navajo. Proud to be of my mother & father. 😊

I wonder if your mother went to Sherman schooling in Riverside? My Cheii went there & ran away 3 times, ha. Well I hope our channel & other RU-vidrs help you pick up learning culture & language. Keep your pride of being Dine' on your chest not deep down. Have a great week, ahe' hee 🤙🏾

This is what I'm talking about 👍 We need to reach out to our people/relatives out there if they're willing, include them. The teachings/stories of ke' / kinship and the kinship songs / ke' bi'yiin 🎶 . Something small can take you a long way. Do you know your mother's clan ?

Modern geologic data is showing that there is more water locked away in the rocks [deep down in the Earth] than there is in all the oceans, seas & lakes combined. And in an event in the very near future it will come back to the surface in a great events. and when that day comes I am planning to be standing with you guys [as my family will have been called to the Next World] and helping my brother & sister Warriors [Veterans] in their health care using naturopathic methods

Yessir. That day will come eventually, maybe in another 1,000 years so let's continue to unify as if that day is tomorrow. Ahe' hee for your great words & sharing your thoughts. 🤙🏾

We have a navajo radio station (KTNN) that announces ceremonial events across dine'tah. We also the Dine Hatalii Assoc. Just google it

Wet did have a hatalii apprenticeship but the NN didn't budget any more $$ and it faded out.
