I'd like to emphasize the importance of using the proper Stabil product with the gasoline you are adding it to. If you are using gas with ethanol added, which is the vast majority of gas now, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND using the pink Storage Stabil product. It does NOT contain additives to protect your machine from the harmful effects caused by ethanol gas. The pink Storage Stabil should only be used in non ethanol gas, in my opinion. If you can't find non ethanol gas, or you're not sure if your gas has ethanol, I recommend using Marine Stabil. Marine Stabil has the additives to protect your engine. And, if you use it year round in your seasonal machines, you don't have to worry about them sitting unused. I have used it with great success for years. Hope this helps. God bless and take care 🙂🙏

I appreciate your thoughts, Nicole. Using stabilizer in gas for seasonal machines is just a smart thing to do. There are, of course, other brands of stabilizer, but Stabil approached DadhowdoI about this, Rob asked me and I truly have used it for over a decade, and I like it, so we did it. I hope this is helpful and people understand. Take care and God bless 🙏

Thanks for your comment, Corey. If you are using regular gas with ethanol, my advice is to use either the 360 Performance or 360 Marine. If non ethanol gas is available, use it along with any of the Stabil products that were shown in the video. Take care and God bless 🙏
@GTVAlfaMan
@GTVAlfaMan 3 года назад
I now live in California where an earthquake or electrical power outage can happen at any time, knocking out all power to gas stations and stores. For my emergency gasoline storage I always purchase premium unleaded fuel and add a double dose of fuel stabilizer to each 5 gallon jug to keep my fuel fresh for a guaranteed 2-3 years with very little loss of octane rating. Also, I always store my fuel as far back in my backyard as possible away from my home and garage inside an old unused plastic kiddy playhouse with a silver sun reflective cover over it to keep it cool. Never store large amounts of gasoline in your garage, keep it outside away from your house.
@RickHebrews12
@RickHebrews12 3 года назад
Good thoughts, Buick 👍 I would like to add that just because gasoline is premium does not mean it is non ethanol. If any grade of gas contains ethanol, I would recommend using a stabilizer that protects from damage caused by ethanol gas. For Stabil, that is the Marine or 360 Performance. 😊 Take care and God bless 🙏

This makes me think of a gas /oil mixture for 2 cycle engines. A lot of people that I have encountered...and one even at an auto store...didn't realize that the ratio was different on some 2 cycle engines. They think you go into the store and pick up the little bottle of oil....dump it into the can of gas, give it a couple of shakes and you have what you need. ....My weed trimmer takes 50:1, leaf blower is 40:1. This may be a good video for you to do. Also let them know if you just dump pure gas into those 2 cycles, the engine could seize up. I bought a basically new weed trimmer at a yard sale....probably a $200 trimmer for $20 because the lady couldn't get it to start. I dumped out her gas, put the correct gas in.....and no problem at all. Still had the factory installed trimmer line in it !!!
@RickHebrews12
@RickHebrews12 3 года назад
Thanks for the good thoughts, uberurbanna1! When all else fails, read the instructions! 😁 You're right, 2 cycle engines need 2 cycle oil mixed with the gas! Some of the better oils come with stabilizer. Like you advised, use the proper ratio of gas to oil on your 2 cycle motors. Take care and God bless 🙏

Just paid $80 to have my snowblower taken apart to clean the clogged carbureator. Lesson learned. So, stabil has been added to my gas can. The maintenance guy told me to: --Use pure gas if possible...89 octane or higher --Keep gas at lower levels starting around the Super Bowl Sunday time of year in the winter --Turn it on at the end of winter and let it run --This works for gas powered lawn mower as well BTW, my Dad had mentioned Sta-bill before...I didn't listen haha.

Some good thoughts, Eric. Not sure I agree with keeping gas at lower levels.. Definitely use non ethanol gas if you can. If not, use either the Marine Stabil or the 360 Performance Stabil. If you can run the engine occasionally, that also helps. Take care and God bless 🙏.

Meaning I’d like to add Sta-Bil 360 to my gas can but I don’t think all 5 gallons will be used in our lawn mower (or maybe it does? my husband does the mowing) so I’d also like to add Sta-Bil Storage. Would that be an issue? Thanks Uncle Rick!

@@littleblizzard7591 Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding you, but if you have already added the Stabil 360 to your gas there is no need to add the Stabil Storage product, unless you plan on storing that gas for 2 years. The 360 is supposed to keep gas fresh for 12 months. I use the Marine Stabil in everything because we live in a rainy climate, but you should be fine with just the 360 for seasonal storage. Sorry for long answer. 😄

I've been using Sta-bil for years, Including on my weed whacker and leaf blower that have 40:1 and 50:1 gas:oil ratios and it has never let me down - they were very nice on the phone too when I had a question. Btw, Rick explains in a very down-to-earth kind of way that I'm sure helped those not familiar with Sta-bil. Thank you both. 👏👏👏

This week I had to store my seadoo and I just learned what stabil is... I was so nervous adding it but it went in and apparently it's worth it. I'll find out in the spring!

I began using Sta-bil for my motorcycle. Then, set up Amazon Subscribe and save to deliver so I have it every fall. A friend told me about using this. Or, I wouldn't have known. I'm so grateful for this extended tutorial. For awareness of all options. For the motorcycle, I drained the old gas out of the hose. Then, added the new. Then run the bike until the new Sta-bil gets through. Side note, I never use ethanol on equipment either. It'll clog up boats and other equipment. Between the pandemic and working at the property on business and publishing don't drive much. Thinking 360 would be helpful. Plus, during winter need to plug the battery in to stay warm since I don't drive much. A tip for others is to have a battery charger available to the plugin. If the battery does at home but isn't more than four years old, plug the charger into the outlet or extension. Then, use the jumpers provided with the device. There will be multiple options. Don't use ’deep cycle’ because it'll not do a basic charge. Maybe you could do a how to use a plugin better charger. Explain all the options and how they work on a battery. I am so thankful for you and your brother sharing this wisdom. Kind regards, Patience @askmisspatience

Thanks for your thoughts, Patience. I agree with you about using non ethanol gas in equipment that isn't in regular use. I would not recommend using the regular pink Stabil in gas containing ethanol - use pink Stabil only with non ethanol. If someone can't find non ethanol gas, then I recommend using Marine or Performance Stabil, which contain additives to help combat corrosive problems associated with ethanol. I try to buy from local small businesses when I can, though, rather than Amazon, but that's a personal choice 😊. Good thought on battery maintenance 👍. Take care and God bless 🙏

@@RickHebrews12 where I'm at the local business landscape has changed similar to the rest of America. It’s not like 30 years ago when I first left the full-time military to come to the midwest for college and military part-time. Local is mostly big box stores now. Which don't all carry what I need. Like Sta-bil is a Walmart thing and I'd rather not go there. I use Amazon subscribe for timed deliveries. Like, batteries twice a year for smoke alarms and CO detectors. Or Sta-bil. Plus, this set up comes with a discount of from 5 to 15%. What's the difference between the local Walmart and Amazon? Walmart is a big box store that took over America and caused many small businesses to close. I've been to Arkansas where they base and got to know their company first hand including people who work for them I know. Amazon offers options that include local businesses. Amazon the sub and save is on autopilot with timed deliveries and delivers to me using the local drivers who need work. They have their issues, as do all stores. I've had better customer service than several local stores. For batteries to pet food. To where I needed to speak with the managers. Never once on Amazon. Amazon hires local people to do work. Delivery, post office, and sellers. Plus, hired warehouse people locally and customer service reps. One woman told me she was laid off from covid and Amazon gave her a customer service job. She was a massage therapist. But had to close due to shut downs. My son works on AWS with his company locally, it's their tech side. I buy from small sellers like More than Words in Boston that help youth aging from the foster care system learn about business by selling used books. I buy used books from sellers like this on Amazon. Also, we don't have certain companies locally. Like, Amazing Grass creates the best superfood wheatgrass. I buy from local like hardware and some groceries if they have what I need. But, when choosing between Walmart, Amazon, and some horrid customer service experiences at a few local retailer chain stores, Amazon gets me for great customer service, savings, delivery, and products they don't sell local plus helping kids like this from MTW. Not sure where you live, but it's amazing if they can maintain a small business in this climate with covid and big-box competitors. Super appreciate all you're doing for us with wisdom. Thank you

On the subject of safety, always be careful with any household chemicals. Some are toxic, some (like gas) are flammable, and you shouldn't mix some together. Source: With the exception of 1 year, I've been working in hazardous waste since 2012 and have worked many events where people dropped off their household chemicals for disposal.
