How to keep live shrimp -live bait

Good video, I keep my live shrimp in a one gallon insulated cylinder that I put together last year. I even insulated the lid on it. It keeps a pint of shrimp alive for the day. I just leave the net in there for them to hang on, which makes picking one off really easy. I usually just toss in a few cubes of ice to keep them cool. I was worried about the fresh water/chlorin, but that hasn't been an issue.

Really Appreciate the info, been trying different things to keep them alive in my bait well during the summer. I velcro my frozen water bottles to the inside of my bait well. Melts too fast lol I installed water circulator instead of using the built in one and that helped very much. I will be using the Bayou water Tip for sure. Thanks. I found this video moderately useful. I'm surprised about the color of the container issue, since, as you point out, livewells are pretty much always white, and even the shrimp containers I see at bait stores are generally white. One question I have is what range of temperature is acceptable and what temperature is ideal. "Cool" is vague. Presumably ice could also make the temperature too cold, unless shrimp deal ok with 34 degrees F. You don't mention a filter tor chemical additive to take out the ammonia that comes from the shrimp's excretion. How long do you think you can keep shrimp alive without one of those.

So i work at a bait shop live shrimp mostly but can you give me a few tips on how to take care of the help them live longer? This video helped alot but maybe you could give me a little more advice???

I'd like to make a shrimp pen to keep in canal behind the house. I figured I'd use a 20 gallon gray "Brute" trash can with lid, add holes for water flow. Zip tie pool noodles to keep it floating and add an aerator pump to give the tank bubbles/oxygen. You mentioned adding structure for shrimp to hang on to - what do you suggest using? Does this sound like a viable plan or am I wasting my time?

Good information!.. I'm currently reading out a small ice chest to keep shrimp alive again what do you recommend as far as hardware cloth... I have a small 3 gallon Frabill Shrimp Shack that has some type of plastic net cloth around it, but I don't know where to find anything like that.
