How To Keep Solar Bird Bath Fountain Centered (From Floating Around) 

Are you kidding me !!!! I just spent an hour and a half at the hardware store trying to figure out a way to center mine LOL, I basically tried to reinvent the wheel and it didn’t work. I come home ,see your video I am staring at hanging basket clips right next to me… I am so freaking excited that this is gonna work. I don’t know who you are but thank you so much for making this video and taking the time to do it because I love my little solar fountain and you just made my day thank you

You. Are. A. Genius. The floating solar fountains I bought last year were amazing, but they drove me nuts by, well, FLOATING too darned much. Now I know exactly what to do with those 897 spare basket hangers in that box in the basement. Thank you!

That’s a super idea…thank you sooo much…that’ll help our floating fountain in a great way. I’ve found if the fountain doesn’t stay in the middle, the water gets spirted out the sides of the birdbath. Have a fantastic week!

Good idea 👍 I got tired of seeing my birdbath drain of water due to the floating movement of the solar pump.

I surround my floating fountain with 3 large rocks. The smaller, more timid birds (including a few hummingbirds) perch on them to drink and take showers. The bolder ones splash in the water between the rocks and the edges of the bath. I've also used the "cage" hanging planters that come lined with coco fibers, as well as plastic containers that I've drilled holes in and weighted with a few pebbles. Another idea: wrapping a river rock in galvanized wire and shaping 3 curly-cues that act as prongs to keep the floating disk centered. As long as water flows freely under the solar fountain, any of these methods will work.

Perfect idea. I have been placing rocks concentrically, which works okay, but takes up a lot of real estate. I will definitely try this!

No way! You're a genius 😅 spent hours looking for stiff tubing to replace the cheap replacement plastic straws (fixers) that are brittle.

I have the fountain and just today found a planter to try. But I was just thinking how do I make it stay in the center….just like magic! I’ll be trying this idea. Thank you

This is a very good idea. Even so, I might try just putting three pieces of brick or three heavy little stones positioned around the solar unit to keep it in place.

I have a different solution. Your clips are partially shading the solar panels unless you're very careful to make sure they don't. I used long zip ties, cut the heads off, and poked them into the foam rubber quotation on the sides. Then I cut them to length to center of the fountain where I want it.

It has suckers on the base, find a plastic tub (same height as water level) put rocks/pebbles in tub with water. Clip the lid on. Attach pump to tub lid. Pebbles around it so its a bit hidden & pebbles also give the bees & insects a safe spot to drink from.

Nice idea, but if you don't want the rods all through your fountain maybe tripping a bird while bathing then my solution was a clear 6" plastic flower pot tray (non-footed version). I believe most of those fountains are 6" dia. I just drilled holes in the bottom, used small stones to weight it down and the fountain stays put, and the tray is clear so no one notices it. If your bird bath is too deep prop up the tray with a flat rock or small ceramic tile. The lip of the tray should be at or just below surface level and don't forget those holes so it can fill with water. Easy to remove for cleaning as well. There are also deeper versions of these trays for small ponds etc.

I used small rocks placed in a ring around the fountain. Now little birds can enjoy the bath too!

We bought a solar fountain pump from Amazon much like that one except it came with little plastic stick like things that hook onto the unit to keep it from traveling. The product also had a battery back up, which has been nice, since we do not live in the sunniest of areas. It cost about $20 total. Most fountain pumps with battery back up were selling for far more. I don’t know how long it will last but if it gets through the summer we will be pleased.

Brilliant, When I use these water features the water sprays and empties the bird bath and if there is no water the little solar panel burns out.

I just got the NVRGIUP 4W fountain, it has the mesh bag for rocks to anchor it. Looks nicer, also this 1 has yellow flower like nozzle attachments that aim the water downward instead of flying out of the birdbath 👌

I bought the so called upgrade version that comes with the 4 plastic tubes attachments that keep the fountain centered but let me tell you my problem now is keeping the water inside the bird bath because even on a light breezy day the water will get blown out from when it shoots up from the solar fountain..

Sooo cool! I saw that the Lily pots have holes in them for drainage...Do they do ok being completely saturated in water all the time?

Every single bird bath I have ordered comes with 4 plastic tubes that are meant to keep bird bath centered. They work OK but are not as long in length as your idea.

Don't the fountains come with bits of tubing to do this? Although your idea is much better as it has the clips. Great idea!
