Bro, I started going bald at 22 and this was before the availability of all the products and treatments people have access to these days. No amount of products or medicine could overcome my genetic pre-disposition. That being said, this is awesome advice for most guys who aren't as susceptible to balding as I was/am. The key is to start early and be consistent. Good video, Austin. P.S. - I'm lucky I got a good head shape haha!
bro i'm 20 and i'm losing all my hair. it's genetic because my dad, uncles and cousins have lost their hair early age. i know i can't beat nature but any advise for facing it like you know it's hard at this age.
@@taspikhan6847 best advice bro. Own it! Once you do it cant fuck with you nomore. And secondly, grow a nice full beard. Bald+beard is a great masculine look. AMS being one of the best examples.
To anyone out there that’s actually losing hair, not just a teeny tiny bit like Austin, THIS IS NOT What you should be doing. Step 1 Propecia/Finasteride PERIOD! You can not stop balding without lowering your DHT and only Finasteride and Dutasteride will do that. Yes there is a tiny chance of some side effects but me and everyone I know taking it (about 10 people) have not experienced any serious side effects, don’t let the fear mongers online scare you. After addressing the DHT then yea everything in this video is a good idea just know that any hair gained by minoxidil NEVER becomes terminal, it’s not like using it for a beard, you will need to use it for life. Same with Finasteride and the earlier the better! As soon as you see any sign of thinning get on it immediately if you want a chance at saving your hair! If you are one of the unlucky few that experiences side effects, first make sure it’s not in your head (most cases) and then their are ways of mitigating side effects like lower doses spread out etc, but don’t let the fear stop you or you have zero chance of saving your hair.
👆This. Finasteride is the only clinically proven medication to lower DHT levels to the point where your hairs will NOT miniaturize. I feel bad for the younger men who succumb to the fear-mongering. The clinical trials for finasteride showed a
@Michael Elam good move 👌💯 I too had my concerns about finasteride when I first noticed slight thinning on my hairline, but started popping a pill every morning since then religiously. My hairline has also gotten a little bit better and maintained since 5 years now💯
Perfectly said. It's sad that something that is proven to be as safe and effictive as finasteride has people who hears or reads the word automatically jump to "tHe SiDe EfFeCtS" despite sides being mild and very rare. It's a weird world we live in but thats what it has come to on the internet. I've used it for 3 years and was one of the best decisions ive ever made, and guess what, like the OVERWHELMING majority, NO SIDES. I know people who've been using it 10-15 years to nothing but an amazing time. Finasteride is great!
@Michael Elam That’s awesome brother! I’m happy for you! It is sad that there is so much fear mongering online about ED and other side effects. It is so easy to convince yourself you have sexual sides just by thinking about it too much. Glad you didn’t let fear control you
Hey bro im 17 and my dads family are all bald. Is there any hope for me if i start finasteride and when should i start it? Do i start now? Aslo if you could be so kind and explain tome anything and everything else i could be doing apart from finasteride. Do i need to use Dutasteride too? Ive never heard of it. Thank you. Also like where do i buy all these things and what companies are good. Please answer all my questions sorry they spread out a bit
I was about Norwood 3-4 and I recently gotten Scalp micropigmentation and it's a total game changer. It knocked off a few years off my age and went from looking 45- to mid twenties (Currently 30). Shout out Austin for recommending it to me
Austin minoxidil and that shampoo are minor things to prevent hair loss, if your scalps sensitivity to DHT gets too high those won't be enough. You would then have to hop on a DHT blocker like finasteride, so just keep an eye on that hairline still. Keep up the great content!
yes, but i think you should start taking fin when you have an official diagnosis of alopecia. Taking it just to prevent hair loss wouldn't be too much?
Get a blood test to see if it's actually a DHT problem first though. Otherwise you'll get erectyle dysfunction and become infertile. Also use something natural like saw palmetto instead of a pharmaceutical.
Been using keeps for a year now! My hairline improves a bit every month! Not exactly how it was when I was 21(I’m 27 now) but I’m excited to see it this time next year
I actually do this routine too. One thing I’d suggest is using a derma roller 2-4x - week. It’s been studied aswell and it is very effective. With the derma roller added to your routine you’d be solid. I’d suggest doing it nighttime since you are using rye oils and really want your scalp to obsorb it
2-4x per week is FAR too much. 1 time every 1-2 weeks at 1-1.5 mm depth is best. Otherwise you risk scarring your scalp, which could make things worse.
I’d really only do it 1-2 times a week and I use both minoxidil and some homemade rosemary water that has rosemary and lavender essential oils in it with other carrier oils and black seed oil helped a bunch
@@UzitheSaint when i use minoxidil my scalp gets soooo dry. How do I fix it ? I can’t put oil right after minoxidil use cause it won’t be as effective then
I went to Turkey in October for a hair transplant, you can see in my videos. I did not like that my hairline was receding, it felt like the barber was giving me lineups on the top of my head. Best decison I made was getting a hair transplant!
@@rondoe7585 I already eat pretty much completely clean.. Literally cut out all sugar and processed foods and eat only healthy and whole foods. But the blood test is an idea..
@Pep I live pretty much the same as you. But the smoothie thing is something that I just like to do. After doing this, I noticed a difference in the mirror and had to experiment with it and research it to see if the smoothie correlated to the extra hair growth that came in rather quickly. When you look up foods that help with hair loss, all those fruits are on there. You may not be eating badly, but you could stand to add more good foods to your diet more frequently. All I'm saying is give it a try for a month or so and see if you notice anything. As for the blood work. Your testosterone levels being low can also cause hair loss. I work out at least 5 times a week and have a very muscular build. But my blood work was very average. I was shocked when I saw what my testosterone levels were compared to what is considered high and low. For someone who eats very clean, is young, exercises frequently, sleeps on time, and limits stress, this did not make sense to me. I realized that it should be higher, but there are things that work against it. Things like plastic containers and aluminum-based deodorant. Make the swaps for glass and non aluminum-based deodorant as a start. They are called endocrine disrupters. I hope something here will be useful for you. ✌🏾
I catched my hair loss really damm soon. I alwayes cared about my look and was pretty sensetive to any changes. So I reversed it completly. 1 thing to consider is the intial hair lose you gonna have for the first couple months. I got really agressive hair loss from minoxidil, it stoped after 5 months, and my hair went back to my starting point after 8 months. And after 1 year I got all my hair back to how it was when I was 12 years old.
The only thing about using minoxidil for the scalp is that you have to use it forever. The moment you stop using it you lose the hair you gained from it. Because of that I decided against it. Instead I use jojoba oil, peppermint oil, lavender oil, and rosemary oil everyday along with dermastamping once a week. The results won’t come as fast compared to minoxidil but just be patient and consistent with it and the results will come. I started doing it 2 months ago and I’m seeing the results now.
@@r1zzyr1zzy93 i have hairline loss. nw2. i used the finasteride pill 3x a week and minoxidil 2x a day for like the first 6 months. then i only used minoxidil and finasteride on the same day 3x a week. and ketoconazole 2% 2x a week. that was like 6 years ago. recently i switched to keeps spray that has fin and minox together and derma-roll so i dont have to take the pill. its expensive tho
Man I'm a firm believer u can't stop time against you, the best thing you can do is live the healthiest you can with your life and reduce stress as much and keep a healthy balance between your life and relationships.. I learned this the hard way going GRAY at age 22-24, I was plucking like crazy not knowing it would cause my hair not to grow back, so when I saw my hairline not as full because of it, I said f it and just started wearing hats because of my insecurity with it.. I only feel confident when I have a fresh cut but I'm still thankful I have a lot of hair and nobody in my family has gone bald ever, all the men in both sides of my family, young and old, single and married have a head full of hair even old age so hopefully I'm lucky to keep that going..
You went grey due to a vitamin B12 deficiency more than likely as well as other issues that probably affected your heart. Change up your diet and eat more vitamins
@@boredfive3001 I do all of this and I'm still gray, it's ok though I'm 30 now but it's crazy how the manosphere doesn't talk about going gray much just balding lol.
@@25-8 It's impossible you're doing everything I said because I speak from experience and I'm older than you. NO GREYS! And I stress out all the time and I have seen a few here before and there (twice or 3 times MAYBE, probably was lint). However upon immediately noticing I knew it was a lack of Vitamin B12 in my diet. You take Vitamin B12 and E then it should go away. There are also other methods that I haven't really personally tried like drinking molasses or applying things that have vitamin B12 in it directly to the hair with certain products even though I ingest my B12 with vitamins. However that's the solution from my experience. So if that's not working then chances are there's something else going on either directly underneath the scalp (folliculitis) or you have an underlining health problem possibly dealing with your heart. The other thing is you might be doing something that's counterintuitive to your health overall that I do not know about that might make taking vitamins near pointless (IE; drinking, smoking, drugs). So if taking vitamin B12 and E in the right quantity every single day consistently doesn't help, or you're not noticing improvement after at least 3 months then I don't know what to tell you. But I doubt you're genetically per-disposed to getting them if i'm not. Highly doubt i'm just some superior human with better genetics than you. I could be, but chances are it's either something you're doing or not doing. Isolate it and eliminate the issue.
Going grey is mostly genetic. Perfectly normal to slowly go grey during the 30s, so I wouldn't stress about it. Especially for men since many women find it attractive, as long as you look young and healthy in other aspects. Balding is much much more of an issue...
lol same! but i had no stress im sure it was just genetics even when i was like 10 the end of my hair line were much clear and almost like baby hair.. but i wouldnt mind being bald i find myself looking up to bald people anyways.
To each their own. When I was younger I always told myself that if I started losing my hair I fight it, I would just shave it off and rock the new look. Beard is turning gray and I refuse to dye it black. The combination of a clean shaven head and a groomed salt and pepper beard is 🔥 It’s a very mature look, so I get why a younger man wouldn’t feel like it works for him.
As a dude that waited too long to address their hair loss, here's what worked for me (started at Norwood 2 at 27 ended up at Norwood 2.5- 3 last year at 37): 1. Shampoo : OGX biotin & collagen 2. Topical Finasteride & Minoxidil ( Strut, Keeps, Hims) 3. Microneedling : Dermastamp 3x a week 4. Self Scalp massages 2-3x a week 5. Zinc rich diet (fish, red meat etc) 6. Bonus step: get SMP
If you using finasteride you dont need anything more... unless if your balding is aggressive and minoxidil is a great combo, scalp massages wont help, shampoo and smp. Believe me
10 years to get from norwood 2 to norwood 2.5 seems like a normal thing. I had the same situation, went to Norwood 2 with a slight vertex at 26, basically not noticeable and now Norwood 2.5 at 35 going on 36, but no Finasteride or any other drugs.
@@TheSenhordosvideosPlease answer. I am 16, thinning, and I want to use Fanastride, but there’ll be bad side effects for women and minors. Of course I’m still a minor, but I don’t think myself as a minor since I’m an exception. I’m a very early bloomer. I’ve stopped growing, had a beard for a year or two, got wisdom teeth when I was 15. Sooooooo much body hair. So I’m guessing my hair falling out has come early as well. If I don’t take Fernastride now, then I’ll get way worse. If I take it now, there might be side effects like it ruins my testosterone. My 2 brothers are 3 and 6 years ahead of me. They found that Fernastride is the only way. Also my dad lost all his hair at 21. Brothers started balding at 19 - 20. Me 16 😭
One thing to consider about using Minoxidil is to use on all your scalp unless advised otherwise. Hair thinning usually starts at the temples and/or crown but usually spreads to the rest of your scalp so as a preventative I have heard quite a few people who apply to whole scalp.
@@gc-yt6627 where are you getting your info from??? The guy in the video stated already how he grew his beard with minoxidil and it's fine despite him not applying anymore lol
The only issue with minoxidil on head hair is that it falls out when you stop using it. This isn’t the same as with your beard….when used on your beard, the hair stays after you stop using it.
Just take oral minoxidil and finasteride combo. Works well. You can use topical DHT shampoos. Then hair conditioning with regular castor oil/ red onion oil/ coconut oil/ rosemary oil combo- good scalp massage to relax the scalp muscles important to improve blood supply. Start these early in your early to mid-twenties if you have genetic history and signs of hair loss. You can also micro-needling/ PRP if your hair is already thinner. This is the nuclear stack! Then of course hair transplant is an option if you have a good donor density. You’ll still have to continue with the above post-hair transplant!
I gradually started to lose hair from 17-18 years old, now I'm 23 and I'm bald and it fck sucks. I have to always shave my haid at least every other 2 days to look symmetrical with my huge bald spot in the middle. Terrible stuff, add to that, that I'm hairy af on the body and i have to shave my palms, arms, shoulders and upper back every single day to just look like I'm normal. And i do it every day because it takes less time and i won't have to spend double the time when i skip the shave once, i even grow hair on my cheek bones around the eye areas and eyebrows. That's misery at it's peak for me and i wish it was only that, no matter how much self improvement you do something's can't change
Honestly just own the hair on your body (other than obvious spots like pits and pubes). Hair on your cheek is just something that's genetic unfortunately and my advice is just use a nice razor to get rid of them quickly rather than threading or tweezing
@@alexakos1223 bro body hair on a men is the best. I also have a lot of body hair and i never shave most of it. There are a lot of men who dont shave their body hair - i would even say most of men. A lot of women also like body hair i really dont see why you are stressing so much about body hair! Be proud that you have it 🔥
These are great topical remedies but also make sure your diet is clean and you are working out. Circulation is key as well as certain vitamins and nutrients like Vitamin E, biotin, Iron. There are plenty others but you get the idea. Cheers fellas
Hey also remember one you stop with these products your hair is gone. They have side effects some worse than others and can get pricey. Go bald and get buff embrace it!
Bruv I went from dreads. To a brush cut then one day I thought having hair is annoying and shaved it bald. Best decision ever. I don’t have time to do facial routines much less all this damn hair work? I’m ok.
DHT Blocking shampoo + Minox is a good combo. But as I got older the MPB kind of overpowered both of them. Finasteride(look into the side effects)/Ru58841 are also great as well. But like you stated in the video proactiveness is key.
@@AustinDunhamVlogs you can try saw palmeto which is a research proven substance that works like finasteride as a dht blocker. Its also has no notable dangerous side effects
lol i had a small afro but realised that i was balding and i didn't want to spend time and money researching and getting products so i grew it a little more and got locs,it took time but after a few months my locs were long enough to cover up and hide my bad hairline. But now that my hairline is covered up i think i can now start using these products to help improve my hairline so that one day when i decide to cut my locs I don't end up regretting it because of a bad hairline getting exposed
Hey Austin, just one thing to note.. I've seen videos of people using minoxidil to prevent balding but they had to use it for life. Because once they stopped they lost more hair than before
@@nenala7684 I heard from another vid on a pretty reputable channel that rosemary oil works just as good as minox. Have you guys heard of this? One thing I didn't gather was whether it has that same problem when stopping use.
Used minoxidil back in 2018 wanted to grow a full beard without the big patches and the underlip area filled and it did wonders pushed the beard line high as fuck. Altough i used it only routinely for 3 months, 9 months of supply i gave away, as reading the side effects on quite a lot of users. The effects stayed, I was 18 back then now 24, could be age aswell but im sure minox helped and boosted it alot
@@melhorfutebol451 yeah it did for me anyway, my eyebrows grew thicker and also stomach hair. It’s either a systemic effect as the other person said or late puberty. I was 18 but already had some hair on my body it just got thicker and right as I was using it.
Just because a product lists multiple types of familiar sounding “oils” doesn’t mean the product is good for you or superior. Oils block skin pores, which may cause premature balding and causes eye infections 👀
Another suggestion: hope your genetics dont make you predisposed to hair loss. Because for most of us, eventual hair loss is inevitable and finasteride and a hair transplant are the only ways to prevent baldness. The fact that Austin''s hairline was receding at 26 means that by the time he's in his thirties, his hair is going to dissipate quickly.
Alright bro...I just ordered all this shit lmao started noticing my corners fall back when I was like 25 or 26. My own pops noticed it one day and said, "Your little brother came to me and said you were balding...you doing alright?? You stressing or something? Cause that is NOT hereditary 😅" I'm finally ready to take back my youth and stop ignoring it at 28. We shall see how this goes!😂
@Jesus_95 After using the foam (two times a day), shampoo (every other day), dermaroller (once every 5 days), hair oil (once every night), I noticed obvious results after about 3.5 months. The hair wasn't fully mature, but it was enough coming in to make it look as if I had been using edge up spray. UNFORTUNATELY, my second order kept getting delayed, and I ran out of foam about 6 months in. After a few months my gains had noticeably faded😰. I switched over to the gel in November, and when I do my edge up, I can see the progress. Also, the thinning areas look more full. There are no side effects for me at all, so ima stick to it a while longer.
Bro trust am 43 my hair is thinning . I had thick hair at the front scalp all a sudden my hair thinned so fast that when light shines on it I can see the scalp. It’s depressing. It affects ur confidence. Dermotologist said could be you have over used oils on ur hair and wrongly used dermoroler. Which could be the case. I am now orally taking multivitamins that has saw palmetto. And using shampoo with caffeine , biotin and saw palmetto.
My girl told me my hair was thinning. I’ve been proactively putting minoxidil on my scalp along with a derma roller. I’ve been using biotin shampoo and tea tree oil. I’ve also been taking biotin pills and eating healthier. Last week I came home early because my hair fibers started to smear on my head making it obvious that my hair is thinning. When I got home my BALD neighbor was screwing my girl. WTF!!!!
The problem with the minoxidil is that you need to use it for life ugh. What I’m doing is incorporating DIY hair oiling that consists of Rosemary essential oil, pumpkin seed oil as carrier oil together with castor oil 50/50. I also do scalp massaging and uses professional grade biotin shampoo and conditioner both dht blockers xD
@@marutichawan7911 yes I’ve noticed that with consistent use of both the shampoo and conditioner, my hair has gotten a lot healthier and thicker but I’ve incorporated antioxidant supplement for almost two months now which consist of ACES+Zn in one capsule and I really think it has contributed and helped a lot as well.
Peppermint oil and olive oil (dht blocker), Haiti castor oil (better for hair, jamaican castor oil better for skin), should also be using a dermapen on your scalp.
Shouldn't you wait for the minoxidil to dry for 2-4 hours before washing your hair or putting any other product in, also you could add in microneedling with a derma pen at 1.5mm once a week it also helps with hairloss.
Being bald is Not unattractive.. especially if u have a nice head shape , nice beard , stay in shape , smell good and dress nice . Plenty of bald men have women head over heels for em
Why are everyone in comments saying there is nothing you can do? I swear it is toxic people that don't like the idea of other people keeping onto their good looks😂
Dont matter what you put in your hair or what shampoo you use. If your predisposed to balding its going to thin regardless. Real men just accept it. But this is youtube and content is content so i get it.
Quick question bro will using any of these products have any negative side affects in the future I’m not balding I have perfect good hair genetics but I’m just curious
I'm the guy at 36 having to get a hair transplant lol...But I'm fighting for what's left prior to the visit... I had a whole head of loc's man... They were thinning a bit so I cut them off and rocked a frohawk awhile. I bought some minoxidil and I swear I used it ONE time and it's like my hair just fell out. I believe the Minoxidil exposed my weak points and they just fell... I'm balding on my crown and the front top too.... I've never worn hats but I have been for the last 6 years... I never thought it would mess with me mentally but it does. If it didn't, I wouldn't wear hats lol.. I hope I can get this derailed train back on the tracks before it's too late.
After your transplant you will have to maintain a regimen of hair care to keep what you've had transplanted. I'm pretty sure the doctor will recommend you to consistently be using Minoxidil. Hope the best for you man 🙏🏼

Minoxidil good. Missing out on 2 things to combat androgenic alopecia. Meds like finanstiride/dutastiride that Block dht from binding to the 5 alpha reductase enzyme and things like microneedling in combination with minoxidil. Consult with your doctor because these meds can have some serious side effects.
