Jonathan, absolutely outstanding explanation and drill's for the proper setting of the Trail Arm, Rotation and Side Bend!! Maintaining this "structure or setting" will absolutely make the "compression" of the golf ball much better and take the arms and hands OUT OF THE GOLF SWING!! Thank you, .... keep up the great work. 😎⛹️‍♀️🚴‍♂️🤸‍♂️

great video. another thing that really helps me that you mentioned was keep the right elbow moving. when I "hit" with my right arm, my elbow stops. you'll never finish a swing like that.

I read somewhere (wish I remember where) that in the late years of Ben Hogan, he said it was the right knee pointing to the target at impact that was the ‘secret’ to a consistent swing.
@johnr2632
@johnr2632 Год назад
Right arm bent at impact is the one thing that is a must for most golfers to be consistent. Just understanding this and working on achieving it is a massive step forward. I never even considered it for years and was always fully extended at impact. Now, 'right arm bent at impact' is my only swing thought. It's amazing how the body finds the right positions in every other respect if you achieve that bent right arm.
@mkwy8782
@mkwy8782 5 месяцев назад
It is the most simple swing in the world once you figure it out. It increases distance, accuracy and consistency. Front arm straight, wrists hinged, back elbow close to the body and slightly forward, rotate your upper torso around your spine-keep your wrists hinged until impact and beyond...this will construct your natural swing plane and take the club flush to the ball.

When you have pitch shot, lets say above waist height, how the right forearm work, do you intentionally set that position or the body rotation does it? In a full swing I have time to set the forearm correctly, but I struggle with shorts shots. Any advice ? thanks in advance.

Great tricks, never seen it explained with the sticks in those locations before. The right arm is 'really important' like that in the swing so you don't come over the top and other mis hits. The right arm isn't really explained well and how important it is in your typical lessons at the range.

Sorry. I can’t agree with this process. The wrists shown are locked thru impact. No power. There is no body power with this process. You have to let the wrists go thru impact, particularly the right wrist has to straighten, not be locked as shown. As Jack Nicklaus always said “I wish I had two right hands”.
@JKMGolf
@JKMGolf 2 года назад
You are definitely correct about the use of the wrist through impact. However for the topic of this particular video I was talking about the trail arm in the downswing and for players that keep their arms locked out too early. Many of my other videos that talk about wrists explain exactly what you are suggesting 👍
@Rich-in6ds
@Rich-in6ds Год назад
I do not understand the purpose of that first drill as literally no tour pros swing like that. Look at Rory as an example. Yes, during the transition, there is a significant tucking of the right elbow into the right side. However, from shaft parallel, there is a big acceleration of the club head caused by the straightening of the right arm. His right elbow actually internally rotates a bit and he pushes down onto the ball to create very solid impact with a square face without any wrist flipping. This is really clear when you look at the Gears data of his swing Trying to learn to keep the arm bent is going to cause you to start blocking shots out to the right and then compensating with flippy wrists or excessive side-bend causing inconsistency of strike.
@JKMGolf
@JKMGolf Год назад
This video is specifically for players who straighten their trail arm too early or dump the angles in their arms and wrists before impact which is a very common issue.

So from the top of the backswing, the sequence is, pressure shift to lead leg, rotate rib cage to get elbow in front of hip and then rotate with legs?
@JKMGolf
@JKMGolf Месяц назад
No after you shift weight your lower body rotates, then chest rotates, then arms and then club
@wescharlton
@wescharlton 3 года назад
Why is it important to have the trail arm bent at impact? Thanks for the video
@JKMGolf
@JKMGolf 3 года назад
Having the trail arm bent at impact can ensure you hit down on the golf ball and that the low point is slightly after. It also helps with forward shaft lean and other things
