ComicsExplained Ok Rob, I think I've got a difficult one. How do you kill Doctor Doom? I mean the man is one of the smartest men on the planet, in terms of contingency plans he rivals if not surpasses Batman, has taken on some of the most powerful beings in his Universe, And has magical abilities rivaling the sorcerer supreme. So I must ask how do you put down someone who could find a way to escape Hell?
I loved this video!! Colossus is my favorite superhero and I love learning stuff about him. The part about how he's loyal to his friends/family is so true.
Don't think you can to be honest. Example - Doom got sent back to the prehistoric era and was eaten by a megaladon. He somehow willed himself back to life and waited it out until present day to kill the guy who did this to him. He's indomitable.
I remember there was a comic when Colossus was fighting a shield agent. He managed to put a bear hold hold on the shield agent while the agent had a gun aimed at colossus' eye point blank... which left the match at a stalemate. So it would reason that the Colossus' eyes while metal are more vulnerable to damage. I forget which issue this was but I'm sure his eyes are a weak point in his metal form.
There is an issue of the X-Men during the mid-eighties in which he battled Freedom Force (renamed from the Mystique-led Brotherhood of Evil Mutants) that worked for the government. They fought him in a construction site, in which Pyro heated him up to white hot temperatures. Avalanche used his powers and covered him in debris from the site that was mostly concrete and steel essentially freezing him like Han Solo in carbonite. It was so bad, Kitty Pride had to break into the Fantastic Four headquarters and steal a device that could separate organic matter from inorganic matter or something like that. Hell, she almost died trying to get it. I think it was Rouge that saved him though, I could be wrong.
No, Collosus has only technically died twice, neither time to Magneto. In the storyline "Fall of The Mutants", his soul (among others) is sacrificed to defeat The Adversary. After which, as Rob mentioned he willingly killed himself to cure the Legacy Virus in a later story.
+Crash Fistfight Depends what you mean by "controlled". When the Second Genesis team first fought Magneto, he dispatched Wolverine and Collosus quite easily (He literally threw Collosus miles away). Following the death of his sister to the Legacy Virus, prior to Fatal Attractions, Collosus joined Magneto and became one of his Acolytes and remained one for some time.
Colossus was fighting the Brotherhood if i remember correctly. Pyro heated him up and then they dropped liquid nitrogen on him and froze him. He was also injured fighting the Reavers by a character named Whirlwind throwing ninja stars or something.
Could you please do some Star Wars legends stories? You got Legacy I, Tales of the Jedi, KOTOR comics, Republic comics, Invasion(discontinued), Darth Vader and the Lost Command, Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison, or Star Wars Purge comics(discontinued). All you of which you could do and all are excellent Star Wars material and well worth anyone's time.
Rob, you're a fucking beast. I have never read comics and have no idea how to get into them, but I always enjoy watching your videos because I feel (as a non-comic book reader) that I am able to get a good understanding of the depth of each character/story you explain. Keep being a beast you deep voiced man you. #robcore
I agree, I never read comics b4 (but was never against them), but since finding this channel, I actually wanna buy Court Of Owls and The New Captain America.
If his metal skin had any percentage of Iron or Nickel, than he could be affected by Magneto. If it were like pure Titanium but organic, than Magneto could do anything at all. But then again Magneto has controlled him before so I guess his skin does have iron in it.
There was that issue when Pyro heated him up and then Avalanche cause something to cool him down rapidly. The effect fused his skin so tat he could not move or transform back to human on his own and if he had it would kill him due to the deep cracks made by the attack. BUT, he did not die. Rogue absorbed his power so that he could revert to his human form and Storm had The Healer on hand to heal Colossus quickly so he would not bleed out.
Nikki Sixx I don't remember quicksilver ever being able to beat apocalypse I mean he has nearly all the mutant powers... can you link which comic you saw this?
I think you are mixing quicksilver with the flash . he is the one that can travel faster than light . quicksilver is nowhere near the speed of flash . plus flash can do all the things you listed better and faster .
Nikki Sixx ah ok but I'll add in that apocalypses durability was much higher than the damage quicksilver could dish out. If you're familiar with dbz it's like when tien tri beamed cell. It won't do enough damage to kill just irritate and slow him down. I don't think Qs could have killed him
Uncanny X-Men #177 from 1984 Pyro and Avalanche team up to heat Colossus to white hot temperatures then rapidly cool him. Leaving what looks to be a stone version of Colossus in the aftermath. He didn't die so much as just get taken out of commission until they could figure out a way to remove the damage and heal him.
no, colossus can take wolverine's blades and barely retain a scratch, while it cut right through things face(like, went inside his face), and he had to wear a bandage and everything.
When Colossus takes on his metallic form, his mutant power transforms him into a being composed of an "organic osmium alloy", a super-dense metal with non-magnetic properties. Osmium is twice as dense as lead and nearly as hard as diamond. While the nature of the "organic osmium alloy" is a subject for debate, it is clear that Magneto's ability to control magnetism and to manipulate metals that are normally non-magnetic would not be challenged by Colossus' metallic form. Over the history of the two characters, Colossus' osmium form has proven to be a liability against Magneto in direct confrontations. Recently, Colossus has become the Avatar of Cytorrak and is now the Unstoppable Juggernaut. With this transformation his power levels have been expanded significantly. Whether this will change the equation between him and Magneto is certain to be explored in coming issues.
Advertisement A wealthy man had a little boy. For some reason, his first words were "ping pong ball". When the boy was old enough to speak, and understand birthdays and gifts and such (about three years old), he asked the boy "So son, what would you like for your birthday this year?" The boy said, "Daddy, I would like a pink ping pong ball." Father said "That's it? No trucks, no trains no puzzles?" The boy said "No, just a pink ping pong ball. So the father gets him the pink ping pong ball and wraps it up. The boy is absolutely delighted. He takes the pink ping pong ball to his room, and the pink ping pong ball is never seen again. A day before his 15th birthday, asked by his father, `Well my son, what would you like for your birthday?' The son hesitated a moment and his father's thoughts leapt ahead to a new computer and similar things. However, his son had had a new computer only recently and could have a new one any time he wished. Finally, the son said, `Father, I have everything a boy could wish for, but there is one thing I would really like. I would love to have five pink ping pong balls. The father was rather astonished at this wish, but said, `If it is pink ping pong balls that you want, a pink ping pong balls you shall have. And so, the next day, the son was given as his birthday presents five pink ping pong balls. The boy took the pink ping pong balls to his room and the next morning the pink ping pong balls were gone. The father was mildly surprised but decided not to say anything. The pink ping pong balls, however, was never seen again. The next year, a day before his 16th birthday, the father asked his son what he would like for his birthday. `Father,' replied the son, `I have everything a boy could possibly wish for, but there is one thing I would really, really like. I would love to have a ten pack of pink ping pong balls.' The father was more surprised than the year before, but kept his curiosity at bay, for he knew that his son had a right for privacy. He said therefore, `If it is a ten pack of pink ping pong balls that you want, a ten pack of pink ping pong balls you shall have.' And so, the next day, the son was given as his birthday present a ten pack of pink ping pong balls. The boy took the ten pack of pink ping pong balls to his room and the next morning, not a single ping pong ball remained, merely the empty husk of the ten pack. The father wondered where ten pink ping pong balls might disappear to, but decided not to say anything. The pink ping pong balls, however, were never seen again. The next year, a day before his 17th birthday, the son was asked by his father what he would like for his birthday. `Father,' said the son to this, `I have everything a boy could wish for, but one thing would make my happiness complete. I would dearly want a carton of pink ping pong balls.' The father was beyond surprise, but decided to make sure he had not misheard. `A carton of pink ping pong balls?' `A carton of pink ping pong balls,' the boy confirmed. `I can't understand your fascination with pink ping pong balls,' said the father, `but if it is a carton of pink ping pong balls that you want, it is a carton of pink ping pong balls that you shall have.' And so, the next day, the boy was given as his birthday present a carton of pink ping pong balls. The boy was delighted and took the carton to his room. The next day, miraculously (as if by magic, even) the pink ping pong balls had all disappeared. `Dear son,' said the father, `I must ask now, what do you do with all those pink ping pong balls?' The son, however, was reluctant to tell him. `Please humor me, dear father.' The carton of pink ping pong balls, however, was never seen again. The next year, it was clear that the son would get a car, but the father felt that, perhaps, his son also had some other wish apart from the obvious. So, one day before the son's 18th birthday, the father asked him whether he had a special wish for his birthday. `Dearest father,' the son started, `I have everything a young man could possibly want, but there is one craving in me. I would, more than anything, want a warehouse full of pink ping pong balls.' One of these years, his father thought, I should get to the bottom of this. However, he decided to humor his son's wish. At least he had been wise enough to buy shares in a pink ping pong ball factory. The next day, the son was given the address of a warehouse where all his new pink ping pong balls were stored. The son was delighted and decided to spend the next night in the warehouse rather than at home. The following morning, the son stepped out of the warehouse, but it seemed to be empty otherwise. The father had a closer look and indeed, apart from empty cardboard boxes, nothing was left inside the warehouse. No pink ping pong balls were left. The following year, one day before the son's 19th birthday, the father braced himself for another warehouse of pink ping pong balls. He asked his son what his deepest desire was and he had not been entirely wrong. `Father, you have made me very happy these last years and this year I ask of you a shipload of pink ping pong balls if at all possible.' It was possible, if only because the father had by now bought each and every factory of pink ping pong balls in the country. The next day, the father took his son to the harbor and showed him a huge tanker and told his son that there were millions, billions, trillions of pink ping pong balls in there. `Father,' the son said, `You've made me very happy yet again.' That night, the son spent on board the tanker. The next morning, not a single of the pink ping pong balls could be found, but the son was happy. A few days before his 20th birthday, however, the son had a terrible road accident and was taken to the hospital. His father visited the young man in hospital. `My dear son! Can I bring you anything to make you feel better?' Weakly, the son sat up in bed. `Father, dearest father, grant me this wish; just one ten pack of pink ping pong balls.' The father held his son's hand tightly. `Whatever you wish my son, but I have to give you one condition. Even if it may be embarrassing, I must know what you did with all those pink ping pong balls.' `Very well, father, but please indulge me first. I will tell you whatever you wish to know after you have given me the ten pink ping pong balls.' The father thought that was fair enough and the next day brought his son the ten asked for pink ping pong balls. The son smiled weakly but seemed too weak to talk. Son, I leave these pink ping pong balls with you and shall come back tomorrow to ask of you what you have done with all those pink ping pong balls. The son nodded weakly. The next day, less than surprisingly, no pink ping pong balls could be found in the son's hospital room. Now, my dearest son, apple of my eye, treasure of my life, please tell me what you did with all those pink ping pong balls, the father requested. The son nodded and the father gripped his hand tighter. `I-' the son started and sat up a bit, swallowing with a dry mouth. `I- I-' Then he died.
Alex Faix As far as I know that has only ever been explained in what if stories which are not able to be relied upon. In theses stories Wolverine has been able to cut through his armor although I believe he had to swing with all his might in order to do so.
Dark Phoenix telekinetically threw wolverine at him, reverted him to his human form, and made wolverine's claws pop out and killed him! A very dark moment.
dude you need a TV show I would watch your content 24 7 I think you need to do some type of pitch for your show on adult swim or cw something like that I think I have watched almost every RU-vid show you have done great job please keep it going
Again that was not World Breaker Hulk. That was World War Hulk he faced. World Breaker Hulk looks like Hulk but glowing green and surging with gamma radiation and when Banner loses complete control and Hulk is out of control and in pure rage. The Hulk who broke and bent Colossis arms was World War Hulk.
Always Love Rob's videos. Great editing, time taken to explain concepts new to comic book veterans and newbies alike. So Colossus...and so we turn to Xavier. Say! what's Professor Xavier's favorite game? Sit n Spin. No? I'll see myself out
Rob, I read an Uncanny X-Men perhaps in the late 80s/early 90s (back when Rogue was still with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants), and Pyro had super heated Colossus, and then he was rapidly cooled (by some tanker trucks of water I think). He was left stuck in his metal form, and apparently unconscious, but I never read the next issue to see the resolution.
OK, I found it: Uncanny X-Men (1st series) 177-179. Recaps can be found here: uncannyxmen.net/comics/issue/uncanny-x-men-1st-series-177 uncannyxmen.net/comics/issue/uncanny-x-men-1st-series-178 uncannyxmen.net/comics/issue/uncanny-x-men-1st-series-179
Uncanny X-men 177 - during a fight with BoEM, Pyro heated Colossus and than Avalanche with Blob used liquid nitrogen to freez him. Colossus skin had been fractured...
I happen to remember an issue of I think Excalibur where colossus suffers an energy blast in his back and moira mactaggert had a machine that grafted his metal before he could revert back
Yeah, it was Excalibur. That was after he nearly beat Pete Wisdom to death in a jealous rage (because Pete was dating Kitty). Before losing consciousness, Pete blasted him in the back with his "fire knives". But Moira saved them both!
If he can withstand a nuclear detonation, then the heating/cooling thing would have no effect. If it did, he'd have t be super-heated to ridiculously high temperatures similar to that of the sun, which would be difficult to do (not for super people, but for the average human), then he'd have to be cooled down just as extremely. If such a device could do this, then why not go a step further and make it cycle through this process repeatedly, at very fast speed?
