I would add a little thing to point 3 "measuring and marking" - once you have an idea of what you want to do, communicate with your opponent so that you both agree the move is possible. Firstly, their different perspective or knowledge of something you don't know/forgot may influence the move, secondly you avoid arguments later. Examples are: "Here, I think I can move to score this objective but still be obscured from your side of the table, right? "Here I should be outside of your charge range. Am I correct or do you have something that can affect how far you can charge?" etc. Keep communicating and agreeing with your opponent on what you are doing and want to achieve.

Super awesome topic. And Kill Team is definitely not a stripped down 40k, totally different game.

Just wanted to impart some tips that i use my self: For units with 3apl or could otherwise move shoot and dash in one activation, moving from behind a wall, then shooting, followed by a dash back into the fiirst spot ensures that your operatives are not visable to your opponents when they want to return the favor. Also learn about the concept of backwards planning to help the decsion making process. Start by Viaualizing the desired endstate for a turning point. For example, You know an objective is or is not reachable by either player at any given time as this an not hidden information. Therefore, pick key operatives that could be used to run up those objectives while not being incapacitated before you get a chance to use them. Those objectives are also ones that could benefit from barricades near them. After that, identify terrain that can operatives can move to say safe until they can get to that terrain the following activation.

So useful. All of it. Your script is clear and concise, and the table top examples illustrate direction and strategic play exceptionally well. Liked and subscribed.

Hey man, just stumbled into your videos and I gotta say, it is the first time I finally understood how this forsaken game works! I always get confused with the rules but a lightbulb is finally lighting up thanks to you! Keep up the good work!

Always like your videos. I have been playing KT for about 8 months and struggle to win (4 wins and 24 losses). But I believe a lot of the losses are due to incorrect rule decisions on top of my own “must kill them all” mentality. Your videos have helped fix several rule errors on our part (cover line crossing heavy piece of a vantage point, is a model visible to itself,etc). Thank you for what you do
@TheWeirdlyenough
@TheWeirdlyenough Год назад
Tbf that's the most fun way to play. The game is like checkers with extra steps and you are just trying to trade material and resources in your favor. Dont forget that all out agressive playstyle can be rather predictable and your opponents could capitalize by encouraging you to over extend.

Was sent this by a mate. Awesome video 👍🏻👍🏻 Just a quick question on the bonus tip 11. Could you explain this again? I watch a couple of times and still don’t get the mechanics of the tip 😊
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt Год назад
I probably should have explained it better, or at least marked the units... hindsight. So if all 4 of the Kasrkin are in conceal, 2 of the 4 would be valid targets. Basically just referring to the idea that only a unit that is a valid target can be considered as cover for those behind it.

with tip number 5, I played a game the other day and my friend put a barricade between the map edge and a wall with exactly enough space so that his corsairs could move freely around them but my larger based phobos space marines had to spend an inch of movement to get over.
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt 8 месяцев назад
Thats what Vanguard is for. Free traversal. :D
@SS_BAJA
@SS_BAJA 8 месяцев назад
@@KimerexProjekt I totally didn’t even then about using that cuz we play Into The Dark so there really isn’t ever vertical movement, but it still does add an inch
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt 8 месяцев назад
@@SS_BAJA yea, but also, Vanguard ignores the first 2 inches used to traverse. Which negates 1 barricade. With vanguard up, you can open a door for free, move over one barricade without negative impact to your total movement AND get that bonus inch. :D

@@KimerexProjekt ah, I thought it was a pick one kinda deal not a sweet package like that. I also didn’t know about the doors being free. I’ll keep that in mind next time I play Phobos since I’m normally a Corsair player.

Great video :) I just can't get my head around the last point with daisy chaining for cover. if every operator has an engage order, daisy chaining would be possible, right? LoS with engage order is: visible and not obscured, which is true for these models.
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt 9 месяцев назад
It's mostly for concealment. You can only receive cover from operatives that are targetable. So if the front operative is in cover in conceal, it can't confer cover to the daisy chained operative behind it. So on and so forth.

At the very end did you mean to say that the operative being used for cover needs to also be in Line of Sight? You said must be Visible but then said they couldn't be daisy chained, but a concealed operative in front being used for cover would still likely be visible?
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt Год назад
I might have not pronounced it clear enough, but I double checked and I said "viable" targets. Similar thing to needing to fulfill the LoS rules.
@left_Dane_right_Dane

@@KimerexProjekt Sorry I'm not quite following (Newer player please forgive me) Are you saying it's not possible for friendly operative #1 to use concealed friendly operative #2 as cover, even if friendly operative #2 has Visibility of the enemy operative trying that is trying to draw Line of Sight on friendly operative #1?
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt Год назад
@@left_Dane_right_Dane Ya. I believe it was in an FAQ post. Probably should have clarified further. Basically only Full On LOS operatives can provide cover to ops behind them. If the daisy chain is all in conceal, every other operative like in the image gets the full conceal. I think I just didn't explain it clear enough. Might be my bad.
@left_Dane_right_Dane
@left_Dane_right_Dane Год назад
@@KimerexProjekt That makes total sense thematically, if the one guy is hiding behind cover, you can't exactly be hiding behind him as you stand in the open haha. I had seen the daisy chain thing somewhere else and it was confusing at the time, so I was already tripped up about it in my brain. Loving your videos. I've got maybe a dozen games under my belt with my friend, and we started at the same time, so we don't have an experienced player to go off of. And I'm the rules nerd of the 2 of us, so I'm trying to get it all correct. But we have fun regardless. Videos like yours, and especially in combination with those of other content creators helps weave all of it together nicely. Everyone has their own teaching style and way of presenting things to others. You've already cleared up many of these rules that only come into play when there's some of those more rare technical situations. Thanks!

@@cudamaniac preset teams (the boxes are basically what you get and you need to have specific load-outs equipped). It follows core 40k rules with some changes (battleline units get sticky objectives). you only get 3 ploys outside of the standard set. you get to pick between 2 enhancements for your leader and 2 side missions. then you play on a board half the size of a 40k board. All yesterday at my LGS every game played was around 1 hour.

@@KimerexProjekt i understand the tactical hug because you use the APL from the fight for VP, but i dont understand why letting the guy live, isnt it better having a dead enemy operative than an injured enemy operative? you already used the APL for the fight and leavinng them retreat just lets the enemy have more APL to play with. idk that is what i think, what is your explenation?
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt 13 дней назад
@@lesbianmortis1261 I mean it all depends on situation. Melta nearby that is still ready? Charge into an already activated operative. Already out of action points doing other things (mission action, shoot action on some one else)? Maybe charge some one if the positioning is better and the situation keeps you safe. Lot's of options.
@lesbianmortis1261
@lesbianmortis1261 13 дней назад
@@KimerexProjekt yeah, i fully agree in that, i will definelty will be using the tactical hug in my games from now on The only thing that confused me is that it gotta be a really specific situation or you gotta have a great plan to keep an operative alive after spending in the fight action and having the option to finish it on the spot. Maybe it can be something like the enemy meltas are too far and leaving that operative to run can lead to a second charge to both get closer to those far meltas while still them not being able to shoot. I love this kind of melee sheenanigans lol, would love to see more of this

I would counter the "you have to do mission objectives. Don't just scream and kill your oponent's models" thing with KIF. Killing Is Fun. I am playing this to have fun. Piss off with your "you have to play to win". No. I play to have fun. Am I losing? Yes. Does that substract from my enjoyment? No. If I am basically throwing by roleplaying a World Eater, then I am doing it on purpose and I don't care about winning. The most important rule and tip you can give is to have fun.
