A nice looking custom. I had to heat and pop the upper torso on my Fei Long. The diaphragm joint was frozen. After I reassembled it, it worked a treat.😀

I've seen other people somehow get the hair off the head to be able to paint the headband then put the hair back on but have no idea how they managed it, nice job though! Was nervous watching you on the headband I'd definitely of painted his hair and face by accident

I can see that being possible. I'd be too afraid of messing it up haha Oh I definitely had to wipe off his hair and ears a few times 😅

Honestly I think watching him try to force the feet back in without heating up the ankle holes first gave me more anxiety.

I prefer to use the "dunk in hot water" method for popping and swapping. In my experience there is much less chance of something getting melted or warped. It also gives a more even distribution of the heat and makes popping easier. Just my experience.

That's fair. To me it just feels less controllable. I've seen people ruin figures both ways. I just just feel like with the hair dryer and can control a lot more variables to heat things up.

Same here. Ok it's a bit of a faff, having to dry the figure, but like you said the heat is less direct and encompasses the whole figure. That said, if the hair dryer method works for some people, then why not.

I'm a bit hesitant about using hot water when there are risks of ruining paint, hairdryer seems safer to me.

@@magicmirror8627Most mass produced toys use water resistant paint, so no worries using the hot water method. Using a hair dryer or heat gun will do far more damage to paint.

Beat me to it! Nice kitbash. The 1st Ryu is too orange. The gray is too pale but better than orange.

Just an update: if your Jada Toys have issues, you can email them the videos and pictures. So far I have 4 figures: all with chipping paint, inconsistent blotchy paint apps, and ratchets that chewing the joints making them loose. They are sending me replacements for those. Hopefully those replacements are free from QC issues

Nice to see how you do it, even if I don't think it's entirely necessary. I'd have to get another Paulsmart exclusive version as I wouldn't want to not have one to do this mod - same for 'yellow' Ryu as that's how he actually looks in print. Saying it's "upgraded" seems a bit weird...
