I can’t tell you how helpful your video was for our project. We are installing the exact same tile and had so many questions. You answered them all! Thank you!
I installed a backsplash on three walls successfully!! Very much a thank you to you!!! I received tips from others but watching you helped me the most.
I couldn't believe I found a video of the exact tile we bought. We only have one plug to do, for this bathroom backsplash we are doing. We think we hired a tile guy, but he hasn't called us like he said after he saw it. I do believe he is a pro so we will give him another week before we attempt it ourselves. I don't think we will be professional like you. Beautiful work. I hope you did finish the plug....They do get kind of tricky. My husband did great with straightening out our light switch (which the electrician....My nephew...left hanging cock-eyed).
Yeah, doing it this way will make the switches and outlets become to recessed and unstable. The tile always need to be behind to arms / legs of the outlets to be able to tighten them.
@@pb6717 I bought 4 boxes at Lowe's in N. CA for about $10 a box....I guess they were closing out that product. That first tile guy didn't show up after a month of waiting. We hired our stucco guy to do it and he did beautiful work. We had purchased a special plug outlet (a recessed type of plug) which fit in fine. Glad that work is done.
I think that is the exact same granite and back splash stone tile that we decided on! Exactly. I like the darker grout choice. We were going to go with a lighter color, but I think the dark is the way to go. nice job. I hope mine finishes up looking like this. I am however using the Schluter Aluminum edging to match the cabinet hardware and faucet
We used this in a home we sold about 10 months ago. We loved it! We were going to use it again in our new home but changed our mind . Just wanted something different so we went with white subway tile had wavyness to it goes with Luna pearl. They make stone trim for that stone you are using.
So glad I found this video. We are going to be installing natural stone backsplash in our kitchen soon. Questions-did you just stick to existing wall? And does the sealer prevent the grout from getting into the pits in the stone ? Thank you gif the video, that backsplash looks amazing!! Nice job!!
For natural stone I use the sealer and it helps a lot with cleaning the grout, but beware that some will not get out, chose a grout color that will compliment your tile, grout color will determine overall finish, glad to help, thanks
I want to compliment you on that because you're doing a great job. But I'm fighting the urge to hate you. Lol I've just spent most of the day trying to do that same identical tile. But I used the sticky Muscle bound 2 sided tape. It is not as forgiving As thin set is you can't move that c*** once it sticks. Lol but it's fun to watch you get it done. Great job
I hear you, sometimes easy is not so easy lol, I’ve been there, back to the basics and always mix your own stuff, also no premixed grout, seal twice before and after grout makes better clean up,
This looks great. I am planning on doing my first tile job ever as backsplash. Little nervous. It's a Tuscany Ivory Subway mosaic beveled stone. What sealer did you use?
Great video, I’m about to do this same job here this weekend, your video popped up on top, and I see why, (instant follow) if ya don’t mind, how were you cutting the stone? As in what we’re you using to cut I should say, lol… i have a cut off saw plus tile saw, is that enough? also i made a list of tools I will be digging out of my trailor in the morning, any suggestion on tools would be greatly appreciated… I’ll definitely be using your videos as advise, I like the way you explain, definitely a lot better than my grammar…. lol, but hey thanks for this video, it helped me greatly!
well i tried the hand cutter, does not work well with travertine, a wet saw is the best way, a good blade, and slow and steady, i also have a video so you can make sure your plugs sit out with your tile thanks
@@madskills5937 thanks fior sharing, I did check out your videos, I completed the job with wet saw, and angle grinder, the cuts were minimal, it work out great, love you videos/very helpful, I’ll definitely be here watching, thanks 👊🏼
What will you use to seal it? We are putting in travertine as well but I’m scared the sealer will change the natural color and appearance...any suggestions? Btw your backsplash is gorgeous!!!!
Yes you can use a small disk grinder, must have a diamond blade, hopefully you can make a jig to hold your pcs in place, just saying you must be careful, or you might want to buy a cheap tile saw and that will work for you
The voids in the tile was filled in with the grout? and the home owner was good with that? looking to see of a way to grout tile and not fill in the natural voids in the tile.
Everyone loved it, it is suggested to seal before grout, but it’s hard to keep the grout out of natural stone, I like to test pcs first so no surprises, pick a complimentary color and you should be fine
That is the exact backsplash I will be installing within the next month! First tile project. How easy was it to remove the pencil marks you used for measuring/cuts?
I always try to measure a hair more and cut the pencil line, also with the wet saw you can rub with with your thumb, marker can be harder but can be removed
I think I show how I cut tiles on the next video on over the cabinets, I tried to cut them with the hand held tile cutter but did not work well, best way to cut natural stone is with a wet saw,
you can try the hand cutter but i found out that they break more, a hand grinder will cut your tile but also you need to be careful it can be dangerous
