You're just too cute! I'm mainly a crocheter but prefer the finished look of knitting. Anyways I want to thank you for your wonderful tuts, and when I am not having such a great day( have some serious health issues I am dealing with) I come and just watch your videos and your quirkiness makes me smile so I'd like to thank you for that as well! I mainly knit hats, fingerless gloves, scarves for the homeless when I do knit, and crochet prayer shawls for those who may need a little pick me up. Your tuts have inspired me to start knitting shawls instead. This will be my first one, and after this one( if it doesn't take me forever as I am faster at crocheting)I want to try the Love one. Again, thank you! God bless!
I just have to let you know how much peace and calm you bring to peoples lives! We all know life isn’t perfect and what we see on the screen isn’t what defines a whole person but you emit a positive and peaceful spirit. You help people learn a craft that can be a form of therapy for those who engage in it. You even make the learning process a peaceful experience , when at times, it can be a stressful trial for those just learning. I know how much work the videos take to make but I love that you also give us the clips that don’t always go as planned. But in my opinion those clips are what show us it’s ok to be who you are. You are a Blessing!!!
Love knitting with your sock and tweed yarns. I mostly use finger weight using different size needles. Love shawls. Made a gorgeous cowl with one tweed skein. Love it, love it, love it. I get sooooo many compliments which leads me to tell them where to get this beautiful yarn. I don’t do social media so it’s word of mouth here. Thanks for getting into this business. Your so cute and love the hair style.
ok i will say this I am practically a crochet expert and wanted to learn how to knit for years. a friend of mine gave me a bunch of old fashion needles (all in different sizes) and I first got the basic knit and purl down with good tension then i had to give this a try, I will be honest with you I had to find another video to see how the k1bf was done at a closer angle view so after that the rest was easy to follow and now the shawl is coming out very well , this is a great way to use up my yarn and show the women who gave me these needles they are now in good use (and FULLY inspired to buy some good circular needles in the near future :)
I really enjoy these simple shawls because you can dress them up so easily with color changes and by adding a few rows of garter stitch along with the stockinette stitch. So much fun!! Thank you!!
My grandchildren learn knitting in their school curriculum. I think I know a couple little girls who would like to make this shawl for their dolls and maybe themselves too!💖 Heres to teaching our future.👍 Thank you for a great video.
I am such a beginner knitter and you are so out of my league but you are a such a hoot! Love your videos and find them, who knew, so enlightning. You make your pattern look easy !
You know what? Your are totally are right! I do feel like the Shawl knitting queen thanks to you! Such a nice person you seem to be!! You deserve all or the praise you get! I recently got a hank, and the way they must have wound it ip, made it VERYESTERDAY hard to wind up... 60% cotton aswell, so I am definitely going to buse your yarn!! Keep it up!! Love, and stay safew everyone.❤❤
Thank you! I have been looking for and if attractive shawl pattern that is not too complicated. Someone recently gave me a huge bag of fingering weight yarn. I work more often with a 4 ply , and I wasn't sure what to do with this bag of yarn. You just made my day!
I was wondering why you did a loose cast on and stitches, at the end of your rows. They were to make for easy pickups. So smart. No wonder why I struggle. Thank you, for all your wonderful videos. Enjoy your weekend. 🧶🧶
I am buying a lot more yarn now that I have found you. 💕💕💕 The garter tab cast on still nearly defeats me, I struggle. I love it when you say oops! Your bloopers make me smile. Please don’t cut them out of your videos! I also love that I see words like cougar and Multnomah in the names of your yarns. I don’t knit clothing for myself but I have a lovely granddaughter who is going to get some lovely things made of your lovely yarns and patterns.
i absolutely love and enjoy your videos. I am inspired to love each day and treat LIFE as a gift. Thank you, you seem like a kind and loving person. Peace and love to you and your team ... Laura x
Thank you, Chandi! This is a really great tutorial that definitely helped me whip this shawl out. I'm a total beginner knitter, and I know some people are saying that you should change this and that about your videos, but really, they're perfect, in my opinion. Viewers can pause and rewind until they get it down. Your videos are entertaining and informative.
I love this shawl! Just got my yarn from Expression Fiber Arts today!! Yay!! Going to start on this shawl for my Mom, who is going to be 90 in September! So excited to see it! Going to make it in her favorite colors: lavender and purple and turquoise: "Dreamy Dandelion", "Lavender Tea" and "Ultra Violet". Such pretty colors! May even throw in some of the "Reverie" I got also! Thanks for making this look so easy and possible for beginner knitters!
Hi Chandi! Thank you so much for this pattern! My grandma is knitting a Shawl, and she had just casted on 80 stitches... now my grandma is looking at mine, and she has no idea how I've done it!! Haha!! Young Grandmother strikes back!!! 😃
I did it, I went and bought it, i have this yummy yarn also, started it, you got me through the tab cast on for the first time EVER. Smooches Shandi, you ROCK
I've made this shawl before, and I really wish I'd have had this video before starting!! That Garter Tab Cast On almost made me cry! Thank you for this vid and pattern. I'd love to see some styling options!
Love it! I got some Captain Marvel colored yarn (blue, red, gold), and I've been looking for a simple shawl pattern to show off those colors. Thank you!
Love this project! I am a beginning knitter. I love your yarns the colors and combinations and yarn is so beautiful. I have purchased several times and they are even more beautiful in person! Can't wait to pick out some skeins and colors that you have and make this! Thank you!
I made a gauge swatch even though I know this is not a fitted garment. The pattern calls for 24 stitches in 4 inches. I got 20 with a 5 needles. Should I try a 4 or 3 to get gauge? Thanks love your fun videos and patterns Judy
Once again you made me giggle and wiggle! You had me with ri-ri being crowned. Lol. You and hubs are the king and queen 👑 of your fiber game. The sock yarn shawl.. scrumptious.... and how to wear vid I would love to see!!!! You get to display your sashay, shaunta modeling skills! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Can’t wait to try this! If you are using a 5 needle on fingering which is a 1 on weight charts say to use a 1 to 3 if I use a 2 sport Needles 3 to 5 to 3 DK weight 5 to 7 needles should I just go up two needle sizes on what the chart called for? Thanks again, Judy
Judy, those are just approximations. You can use whatever needle size you would like. I would recommend making a gauge swatch to make sure you like the look of the fabric you are producing. Hope this helps! Have a wonderful day! ❤️❤️
Thank you for the video, I was knitting along with you and decided to purchase the pattern for the garter edging directions. I have a total of 915 yards of fine (#2) yarn, Brand is Hempathy ( durable cotton, hemp, modal blend) by: Elsebeth Lavold. The color is sort of a seafoam green. It splits easy while knitting. I ordered it to make lace curtains but have since decided to make a shawl. Unrelated, but it must be nice to be long waisted. I have a very short waist and long legs with a 32 inch inseam so I look goofy in highrise pants and tucked in tops and with belts. Your outfit looks cute on your figure.
First time here. Thank you for this video. Just home from a knitting retreat and everyone else was wearing beautiful shawls. I vowed to have several beautiful shawls for next year!
Thank you so much for this Tutorial I like how you explain everything. Love this pattern. I have a question I keep getting 2 stitches between the markers is that correct or should there only be one stitch between the markers at all times? I'm not sure if I'm messing up when I do my yo.
You're very welcome! I'm not sure exactly which section you're having trouble with. Because you're increasing the size of the shawl and adding stitches every other row, the number of stitches between your markers will continue to increase.
I’m having the same problem. Two stitches between the stitch markers in the middle of the row. I’m not understanding the yarn over. Can someone help? I’m more of a crocheter am a beginner knitter.
Such great instructions, it makes sense to me when I can see it done by you. The color way is so beautiful too. Thanks you are the best teacher. Love 💜💖💕always!!!
So beautiful 😍 the yarn is gorgeous! I love the mauve hues. I’ve always wondered what slip marker means since as you know I’m a newbie knitter. The kfb is the hardest for me to do. I’m still plodding along with the muscadine but it will get there. I think I’ll try the Cool Comfort 1st. Then add this to my bucket list. I hope you plan on doing some more crochet shawls too they are also so lovely 😊. I’m always on the lookout for for your videos their all fantastic, I plan on making some crocheted shawls for gifts. I wear my Unicorn Wrap all the time 😘😘😘
...and Hubby wonders why I giggle when I knit.... Even before you started these videos, I thought you'd be just as you are "on tape." Thanks for this! I was looking for a shawl for a Xmas gift. I think I found it!
I want to make this, but I am unsure if I have enough yarn to do it or if the yarn I want to use can be used on this. My yarn has about 300 yards (also I am around 150 cm tall) and it is 75% acrylic and 25% wool. On the label, it says it is for 3-4 mm needles. Thank you for this gorgeous pattern and for helping me sort this through. :)
@@ExpressionFiberArts So I think I may have enough yarn, but can I use that type of yarn: 75% acrylic and 25% wool? I also have another type of yarn which is 65% wool and 35% silk.
A lovely pattern. I just wanted to do a stockinette shawl. and this would be perfect. I would love it if you could do a crescent shallow shawl with a fairly simple but elegant border. Sweet potato, that's a first. I've never heard it before. 😊💕
Any tips for how to make this with a level 4 or 5 string instead of using fingering sock yarn? What size needles would I need/ which yarn would be a good substitute to ensure it’s still soft and cozy and not too stiff?
Hey Chandi you have such a lovely bubbly personality love your tutorials😁💖💖💖 I was wondering if you could do a tutorial for a shawl that is not a triangle as there are so many out there now I’d love to see a regular rectangle with perhaps some fancy stitches & perhaps a crescent shape shawl so that more of the shawl covers the arms & the triangle shawls don’t do much for the arms 🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖
Thank you so much! We hope to do a crescent shawl coming up soon! We also are going to do a rectangular shawl as well. Hop you have a wonderful day! ❤️❤️
