How to knit the turkish cast-on - perfect for toe-up socks

A step-by-step tutorial for the Turkish cast-on - the probably easiest way to start your toe-up socks without a visible transition - no grafting is required. Read the full tutorial here: nimble-needles.com/stitches/h...
My yarn: bit.ly/354ESkw
My needles: amzn.to/3TT7hRG
*Note: As an Amazon and Etsy I earn from qualifying purchases.
The Turkish cast-on is so simple it literally is nothing else but wrapping the yarn around two needles counter-clockwise and then knitting across. It works best with circular needles and the magic loop technique. The results will be the same compared to the Magic Cast-on once you've knitted across the first needle. So it boils down to preferences and your individual tension & style.

Not at all silly to record it. I appreciate it as I have never cast on like this and it helps me to understand how I need to do it. Thankyou.

Like many others I am very greatful to you for recording this as I have struggled to remember Judys Magic Cast On. This creates the very same effect but oh so much easier. Thank you!❤

Norman, I honestly feel you are one of the greatest knitting teachers on RU-vid. Suzanne Bryan and Roxanne Richardson being the other two I heavily rely upon. Thank you so much for your easy to follow lessons and words of encouragement. I'm taking another's pludge into more complex techniques and really hope to improve. Thank you!

What I always love about your videos is how you explain the technique and compare it to other types of stitches, in this case to Judy’s magic cast on. You help us become better at “reading” our stitches. Thank you!

Nice, clear tutorial as always. I often watch your videos just to vaguely know what people are talking about so it doesn't become an awful hurdle later on. Having to look up yet another cast on method just so I can try a bottom-up sock can definitely feed my procrastination. Now, I already know how easy it is and where to find the explanation.

I love both Judy's magic cast on and the Turkish cast on. However, I use them for different things. It I need to use one of them for a provisional cast on, I prefer to use the Turkish Cast on, but for toe-up socks I prefer Judy's magic cast on (which gives me a little tighter result with my knitting style). Thanks for these tutorials, I find them really helpful.

This does not require the step of untwisting the stitches on one side like the magic loop. Am I seeing that correctly?

no it doesn't. tho, if you watch my video on the Magic Cast-on, it's quite easy to do that without resulting with twisted stitches as well.

I'm attempting to learn how to knit. This is the only cast on I've been successful with building stitches onto. Am I able to use this with only socks or is this a form of casting on I can use universally? I have no sufficent former knowledge of knitting prior to a week or two ago. Self taught crochet 2021. Thanks for any help.
