I think the current economic and job market situation is also a crucial factor. I have a valid B permit and live in Zürich since August (I moved in for a startup position which ended in 6 weeks...), I speak German around B1/B2 level, I am a Frontend Developer (former Fullstack) with 7YoE (coming from an IBM agency in Austria, I've worked with many frameworks and technologies) and I barely get any feedback. I got maybe 5-6 interviews out of almost 200 applications in WHOLE Switzerland. This is what I read all over Reddit or other "forums", it's incredibly hard to get in right now due to immense competition. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong to be honest, but it feels brutal and absolutely hostile out there. I love Zürich and Swiss people though.

I hear you, and it's not easy when the job market feels tough, especially in a competitive field like tech. Your skills and experience are impressive, and it's clear you're dedicated to your career. Sometimes, it's not about what you're doing wrong, but simply a matter of timing and factors beyond your control. The job market can have its ups and downs, but your perseverance and positive attitude will ultimately pay off. Keep refining your applications and interview strategies, and consider networking in the local tech community or attending meetups to expand your connections. Your love for Zürich and the Swiss people is a great foundation. Things may feel challenging now, but remember that every step you take, even if it feels like a stumble, brings you closer to your goal. Keep pushing, stay positive, and your breakthrough will come. 🌟💪

Hi. Did u apply to the French speaking regions? Like Lausanne or Geneva? If yes, how's the reaction/feedback from there? If no, then why?

Isn't frontend more hard to land a job? I mean, is not easy to work with but i have seen lots of people chosing frontend as a first contact with tech instead of backend

Switzerland will be my second country for sure. I'm currently living in a UE country. I'm planning to stay here for 5 years. Then I'd like to live 5 years in Switzerland, 5 years in Poland and 5 years in Spain. I want to retire in one of them. Let's see what I get :D

Grazie Mr. Laera. Actually.. I'm very confused.. On whether to move to the French speaking part like Lausanne, Geneva or German speaking part, like Zürich, Zug.. People say that the German speaking parts are better n bla bla for software engineering. But the problem is that I know some French (I loved it, enjoyed it while learning it, still love it, comes naturally), but little to no German (I didn't like it at all when i started learning it, if needed ill force it n learn it).. So what should I do if i ever move on planning there?.. Please need ur advice 🇮🇳❤️🇮🇹

Zurich is financial capital of Switzerland and some headquarters are indeed in Zurich. But Geneva or Lausanne or French parts have also a lot to offers for software engineers. Hope you will find the right opportunity and good luck for your career here in Switzerland 🇨🇭. All the best

@@daniellaerachannelSo you're saying that choosing Geneva or Lausanne won't be a setback? (Ofcs u are working in Geneva, I know that).. What are the main technologies used there? I mainly work with Reactjs, JavaScript, Node, Typescript etc. Are there job opportunities for these there?

Working for a FAANG company in Zurich I often say that I have a boring and uninteresting job. But when I see on swissdevjobs that senior earns max 150k CHF in other companies, I realize that my job is not so bad. A student after internship hired for L3 position will earn more.

When you become a citizen. Switzerland has mandatory army for like 12 months for every citizen if I am not mistaken. How does this work ?
@daniellaerachannel
@daniellaerachannel 3 месяца назад
It depends your age. When you become Swiss if you’re 25 years old you must go to army then if you don’t want you have to explain why and you can chose civilian service. I’m Swiss since a year and half and I have 36 years old now . I chose to pay military tax per year and is not mandatory to go to army. Not even civilian service. Sometime with your employer you can chose the civilian service during a year and avoid military tax cut on your annual income

As a current resident in Italy with a 'permesso di soggiorno per raggiungimento famigliare,' I'm uncertain whether this status would simplify my visa application process, or if I should still apply as a non-EU citizen (I am from Colombia). I am enthusiastic about pursuing a career in software engineering, especially as I will be completing my degree in Applied Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University La Sapienza in Rome this July. Despite my qualifications, I lack connections for internship or entry-level job opportunities. Any guidance or assistance in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Is not really the title that influences the income. It really depends on various factors: company size, negotiated salary, skills , school degree. Hope it will help.
