Yes, you can use your phone as a data collector with a GPS rover and an RTK corrections network stream, but I'd leave doing real survey work to a professional land surveyor or you might end up in court with your neighbor after you put up a fence on their property.
There are always situations where it is wise to hire a land surveyor, but there are even more situations where you can just use your phone with a GNSS receiver for surveying and staking out, because you will get the same results as a professional land surveyor.
@@Apglos You are assuming people know how to research their deed, their neighbors deeds, compute out the boundary information, tie that information with a cad program, tie into existing monuments, balance them, etc.. Sure, if you know how to do all that, I guess anyone could stake their property lines, but if not, you'll end up hiring a surveyor when you put the fence on your neighbors property.
Thanks for your comment. Yes you need some pre knowledge to stake property lines. Unfortunately the way to get the data of your property lines is in every country different.
In my limited experience, the number of satellites my android phone connects with determines the accuracy of my survey point. For example, if my gps app connects to only three or fewer satellites, the point can be off as much as a half mile compared to a survey point fixed with a dozen or more satellites. It also seems the number of satellites an app can connect to is a function of the quality of the app and the location where the point is being measured. Some locations provide better satellite reception than others. If repeated readings at the same location are plus or minus a few seconds, it should be an indication that the point reading is accurate.

@@kthompso43 drive north on highway 17 from Phoenix towards flagstaff. You'll climb a canyon hill right after bumble bee. When you get to the top of the hill you'll have wide open skies for 5-10 miles, but no cell reception... then all of a sudden, full bars, and you'll see the cell tower on a hill.
+ or - a few seconds? One second of latitude or longitude (which is normally different, and based on your location) could range from 80 -100+ feet. That's not what is referred to as accuracy in surveying..to put it lightly.
Engineers have the propensity to explain things from their own point of view, and not from the point of view of someone who just stumbled onto a subject. I am one so I know.

@@EDOGZ818 An engineer can tell you after surveying with this app. That is why Apglos Survey Wizard is a great tool for any engineer. Especially in combination with an external GNSS receiver.
Until you can achieve sub-centimeter accuracy like I have with my Survey Grade GPS, why even bother. Leave it to the Professionals people. That's why were licensed.

Why didn't you use a smartphone with dual-channel GNSS like Google Pixel 4, Xaiomi Mi 8, 9,10, Huawei P30, P40 .....? You would get more accurate results from smartphone.

As long as the phone does not accept correction data it Will never be as accurate as an external gnss receiver. That is why only using a phone to get an position Will not stand in court
Or you could just buy one of those f9p gps kits for like 500 eur and hook up to your android phone... ✔ now you have same accuracy as that probably high priced tablet

As far as I could find the Samsung Galaxy J7 does not have a magnetometer sensor. That sensor is required for staking out with Apglos Survey Wizard. But besides staking out you should be able to do all other functions in Apglos Survey Wizard.
The whole thing about land surveying with a phone is that you use a good land survey app like Apglos Survey Wizard (www.apglos.eu/asw) And even then the accuracy might not be well, because the accuracy depends on the GPS module in the phone. @@Apglos I think you misunderstand me. I didn't come here for how accurate it is, I came for the how to survey land with the app on an android phone. You basically said: install the app, okay that was easy. But that hasn't helped me understand "how to" do anything...
