I also set up a launch mode on a switch. It uses a throttle elevator mix with a custom curve which gradually applies up elevator as the throttle goes over 50%.
Launching becomes automatic. Just find the plane and toss the plane into it and get your hand back on the stick. If you have the plane set up right and enough power you are on your way.
I just glued my wing together for the third time after my first successful launch, so I'd say no. Drones or planes are way easier to start with I'd say.
No, start with a trainer plane. I love flying wings, but it has taken me many crashes on takeoff to learn. Also the are very dangerous to launch, unless you do the side toss as shown in this video.
The nice part is you don't destroy your plane when you wreck. It owned 7 traditional planes before I learned to fly well. Looking back I spent much more time in the shop than I spent flying. EPP foam changed the world of durability in RC planes.
That is why we fly EPP flying wings. We can fly in high wind, on mountain slopes, on grass fields where no wheeled plane can fly. We don't need a runway and our EPP flying wings don't break. Take a look at the videos on the bottom of our homepage where we crash into a brick wall and the plane not only survives but gets launched immediately back into the air for another hit on the brick wall. Everyone needs a plane that will last without a lot of repair. Lee
