One cardinal rule. DO NOT start the jetski and back off the trailer. You risk sucking debris like what was floating on top of water at this ramp into impeller ending your day before it started.. Hook a rope to the front eyelet of the ski where the winch strap was and once ski is floating pull it down dock and secure until u park tow vehicle. Should push away from dock to deeper water before cranking engine. NOTE. Crank engine for a few seconds before putting into water to ensure it starts.
I mean this obviously depends on how dirty the ramp you launching in. The ramp I go to has been decent and honestly helps to get it off the trailer when you have it in reverse. Good point though I think that just depends how much debris is in your ramp.
Very good video. Maybe show people how to back their trailer up. Most people do not have that experience. Just curious, I seen you had a lot of water in your foot well on the left side after unloading your craft, what caused so much water to fill it up like that?
Many ramps have signs posted to NOT power-load onto the trailer. And many 'skis don't have reverse. You often have no choice but to use the rope to walk it to/from the dock. If there's strong wind or current it's a real challenge.
Modern Day PWC (Seadoo's ) are 800- 900 plus pounds boats ..sofa couches ..and getting bigger and bigger ..each year ... long lost days of the fun nimble 2 Strokes XP .....
Your videos are awesome, thanks for sharing. I have a quick question. what transom tiedown straps are you using? I purchased similar ones but they turned out to be too long they were 24 inches however I only have about 11 inches between my tiedown on the trailer and the hook on a JetSki.
Hello Mark , thank you so much for watching my videos. The straps I have can be adjusted accordingly, I’ll attach an Amazon link where you can find the same straps I have, it is only $30 Yamaha Deluxe Transom Tie Downs Pair of 2 www.amazon.com/dp/B004K9I21Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_7NGJ9HMD5MX1CW2SVE48
I think January or February , it really depends on many thing , but generally no one will be able to guaranteed when will they arrive, not even the dealerships. I got mine 2021 fish pro in the end of December 2020 .
Just a tip, don’t tie the line back on itself when it’s on the cleat. It can be hard to untie if there was a lot of pressure on the line. All you need to do is wrap is cross over itself like you did at the end of the video, only needs to be two or three times, and then flip the loop and hook it around the cleat, it locks down on itself. You can do it once more on the other side of the cleat to double lock it. No need to actually tie it at all. The harder the line is pulled, the harder it locks on itself. What I do after I load is pull it out of the water, stop on the ramp and start the ski for a couple seconds and blow out the water that’s sitting in the engine. Let gravity work on the incline. I also undo the plugs so any water can drain with gravity as I pull off the ramp. Don’t do it if it’s a busy ramp though. Just load and go. But if it’s empty use the extra time to use the incline of the ramp. Also have a way to have your bumpers be able to easily switch to the other side. I would just use the snap hooks instead of the small shackles like you have. If you come back to the ramp and you need to get out of the water in a hurry, the side of the dock you want to use maybe in use. So being able to put the bumpers on the other side in a few seconds is helpful. Don’t get comfortable just using one side. Depending on the length of the dock you can just dock it facing out so your bumpers are still on the side they are mounted, but not all docks have the room to be able to slide in and turn around, even on a PWC if there are other boats there. I would also just use the metal hook on your winch line and connect that to the bow. Reason is this, yes it has a soft loop, but that has less stitching than the hook itself, it’s also smaller webbing. What I have found is use the hook on the bow and then secure the soft hook back onto the winch using another snap hook or something. That way if the winch line itself fails, get cut, or the locking lever does not engage, the soft loop is connected to the trailer as well as will not allow the ski to slide back, and have minimal bounce in the front. It’s a fail safe. I also like to give a little slack with the dock lines if you are not using bungee type. Reason if if there are waves or wake, the slack will let the ski ride up with it, and not be held tight against the dock that is going to move at different times, or maybe not at all since the ski is lighter. You can break your lines, the hooks, or the cleats if there is too much force on them. It will also maybe force the ski under the dock edge, on top of your bumpers and scratch your paint. The boat needs to move a little with the water, not be super tight to the dock. If there are people walking on the dock and pushing it in the water, it will also push down of the top of the ski if it happens to be right under the edge. Letting it move a couple inches from the dock will also it to float on its own and not be forced to move with it. Once you are out of the water winch the boat again to make sure it’s all the way forward, sitting in water, and winching it to the stopper will still leave a little room when the ski is fully out of the water. Always wish it tight when it’s just resting on the trailer. You can usually get one more click out of it. You can see how much bounce there was in the front when you pulled out of the water as the ski fully rested on the trailer, that means there is some give in the rubber stopper and it’s bouncing on it, instead of being held by it.
Thank you so much! This is the most detailed video on how to launch and retrieve a pwc. Brother you are the best! When do you open the drain plug? Is it necessary to open it after retrieving the jet ski? Or just leave it close?
You are very welcome my friend, Thank you 😊 You open the drain plugs in 2 cases, if you got water inside your hull and wants to get this water out , or you wash the engine and you want to get the water out and let it dry . Personal experience, every time after I retrieve my jet ski I open the engine compartment and see if any water made it through, but 100% of the times no water went inside. So I never unplugged the drain plugs.
Love watching your videos bro.. Very helpful and you’ve always got a lot of positive energy.. I live in Australia and i have the same ski as yours and absolutely love it. Keep up the good work buddy👍👍
Thank you so much Rix for your supportive comment and the motivation. I love Australia and Australians , I watch Brodie all the time , he inspiring me with his videos .
Love the vid. I some things a little different but still good info for beginners. Lol I only have about 4 hours between both of my Skis. Watched a lot of June's world and other ski vlogers before I even bought them.
Usually people bring this whole set when their camping away on vacation somewhere. Otherwise most rent them at local vendors near them for an hour or two.
Hey Ivany, yes I have made a video about my speaker. This is the link to it. Hope you like it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SBAeC3095bY.html
Notice how he skipped the part where he gets on the ski. It’s a complete pain in the ass doing it this way, because you will get soaked. Tie the ski off,and let it float back naturally, then pull it over to the dock with the rope you tied it off with. Boarding the ski while it’s in the water will get you soaking wet
getting my feet wet when I get on the jet ski is something normal , in the end I’m riding a jet ski In the ocean not a jet in the sky . and when I go fast I even get more wet lol . remember I’m riding a jet ski and it’s even more fun when you get wet , I’m not riding a cruise ship lol. in the end i thank you for watching my video and my way may be hard for some people, looking forward to see yours .
