We use a 2018 M550i to demonstrate how to use launch control in a non-M BMW. Make sure you warm up your BMW first by driving at least 6 miles! And don't do this in a brand new BMW--wait until at least 1,200 miles have been driven. Steps: 1) Sport/Sport Plus mode, 2) Enable dynamic traction control 3) gear selector to the left (S), 4) left foot hard on the brake, 5) right foot all the way down on the gas and hold it there, 6) release the brake and go

I have a 2018 540i and I’ve tried this over 20 times in the past two months and I can’t get the launch control to activate. I put it in sports plus mode short pressed the traction control button once, floored the brake pedal then floored the gas and every time it gets passed 2000 rpm’s with the brake pedal floored my back tires start spinning. What am I doing wrong?

I have a x5 f15 2016. it does not have sport plus. will it be able to activate launch control by using simple sport mode with traction?

I dont know why my car doesnt activate launch control. I put it on sport plus traction off. Slam brakes and slam gas to the max but my car was screachinf and i think i messed up the brakes but never got launch mode

Put in sport transmission by knocking the gear selector to the left from drive?

It’s not gonna go in launch control if you have traction control off it’ll only do it if you just put the car in sports plus and put the transmission in sport otherwise it’s just gonna brake boost

Since you are in S1 at launch, do you have to manual shift as you accelerate? It doesn't look like you use the paddles, but I wanted to be sure.

I have a 2020 530e but I didn't use launch control because I was afraid of breaking something :) Is it safe?

Do you know if 330i g20 Luxury models have Launch Control ? I tried Sport+ Traction but I don’t get Launch Control active …

Make sure you are in the sport transmission (gear shows S rather than D). Left foot brake as far as you can go, right foot on accelerator all the way down past the kickdown. You should see the launch control active on the dashboard/instrument panel. Release the brake. You should also have the car warmed up (drive at least 6 miles uninterrupted first to get the engine up to op temp).

Mine revs to 3k but does not say Launch Control Active or anything like that although I have followed all steps. Is there something else I have to do that you didn’t mention in the video(got the 530d xdrive)?

I have the exact car from the video 2018 m55i xdrive, fully loaded with performance, driver comfort, amd driver assist package. I have tried this multiple times, car warmed up, driven 20+ miles, no check engine or other warning lights but still can't get it to work.

I figured it out, I was doing it correctly, there was a passive code for the coolant leak that never showed up on the dash and the computer was preventing it. After the dealer r@ped me for $4000 to change the 3 turbo cooler lines on each side they reset the ecm and it started working
