I teach you how I lay a block wall. I show how I spread the mortar on the footers and how to put head joints on the block. Next I teach a couple ways to set the block to the line. I show how to spread mortar on the block wall, and a tip on how to slam an outside head joint on the block. I also show how to reuse the mortar off the wall. I teach you how to point the block wall when you’re done laying, and how to finish it and look pretty. Lastly, I show you that you gotta fill in the top courses head joint gaps, and to clean off the footing. Thanks for watching!!

I am 100% sold I appreciate your video. The only thing I would change as long pants and steel toe shoes. I learned a long time ago any work endeavor shorts and tennis shoes or flip-flops either cut me open or twisted ankles, or black and blue nailbeds on the toes , thanks for the video

When we prep block every 4 feet (two stacks deep) 4 in a row we set them tall. This way we can run mortar joints on the heads of several blocks at one time. Pretty much just the same way you do it horizontally. We almost never butter head blocks individually once laid. 👊

Thank you for your amazing videos Mason. I’ve noticed that you use strecher block between each or the edges of your wall. The home stores in my area (Southern California) only cary standard (pillar) block. I’m building a 6’ wall, retaining about 2’. Can I use pillar block or should I special order strecher block?

Hey Mason, thanks for the great videos, Question is, in the video where you did the footing with the adding onto the house, it was 28 and 34 footer, how did you come up with the 41'7 /16 " from corner to corner , the numbers might be wrong. you had a drawing of the footer measurments. thanks Brendt

Loving the videos Mason. Great job! You ever lay any 4 or 6" block? I need to do a small stem/curb for a shed and want to keep the block thickness matching the framing

I’ve done both. It’s easiest to lay 8 in block all the way up till the last course. Then on the top course step it back to a 6 in block

@@masonthemason6412 this will be placed on an on-grade slab. Just two courses, so should be pretty straight forward. Leaning to 6" block and changing framing to 2x6 as I Imagine the 4" may be a little harder to set and a little less stable

I’ve never done a project like that. In order to make a 4” block stable, drill and pound in rebar and fill solid
