Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

INSPIRATIONAL! I’m 74 and have had to cut back on my gardening due to health issues. But your video has reminded me of how MUCH can be done in POTS! THANK YOU! I truly feel inspired! I’m excited and I haven’t felt that way in a long long time! It WILL be a good NEW YEAR! Happy 2020 to YOU! 🎉🎊🎉

I get free wood chips delivered to my farm by area tree service providers. I use some at the bottom of my containers for drainage. If you don't have the room for delivery, you can usually find a place in your city that will give them away if you pick them up. Take bags or buckets and take advantage of this free resource. :)

I just bought tulips and hyacinth at Costco of all places and I want to go back and get muscari! I wanted all the bulbs they had. I love tulips but they don’t bloom for very long here in CA with our spring heat.

should be gorgeous. I've only forced hyacinth in water and paperwhites. good luck.

You've inspired me to grow Ranunculus for the 1st time, can't wait to see what comes up next spring. Where on earth did you find $10 Hydrangeas? I didn't see any mention/pictures on your IG page.

A lot of the guidance I see on forcing bulbs says not to mix types of bulbs (hinting that it is difficult to match the timing of chilling and growing to get good blooms). Do you have any tips on how to do this? Have you had any issues forcing a lasagna planting like this? Is it as simple as chilling in your refrigerator for 12 weeks and then bringing the pot into the house and putting it on a sunny windowsill? Thanks for the video -- touches perfectly on the two topics I'm looking at right around this time of year.

The bulbs definitely didnt bloom at the same time. I found that crocus and muscari were together and the tulips and Hyacinths were together. Next time I'm going to plant those containers separately. As for the chilling process, I didn't have any troubles. Hope that helps! 🌱🌱🌱

I keep watering my containers when they begin to feel dry on top. Is that good/bad? I am not sure if I missed what you said about watering but, I don't know. Help. Also, mine are in a sheltered 'garden' room protected from wind, snow, rain (so I am their only water source), etc but not freezing temps. It is a 'room' attached to my house and two of the 4 sides are my house and the other two sides are single paned windows. Will they my containers be ok there? I wrapped them in about 3 layers of bubble wrap.

That sounds like a very good place for bulb containers. The important thing is just to make sure that the container isnt freezing solid. Its likely that you wont need to water once it stays cold - I never water when temps are below 32f. Hope that helps! :)

@@TONYAwiththeflowers AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I just checked on them and they are beginning to grow!!!!!! Perhaps 3 layers of bubble wrap is too much and they are too hot? lol I don't know. I have $80 worth of bulbs in my two containers, I hate to think it's going to go to waste!

Some bulbs send up top growth during the winter. For example, muscari will be green all winter and then bloom in the spring.

Do you keep the bulbs in the container or pull them out after the season is over
@TONYAwiththeflowers

I usually let the plants die back naturally, and then replant the bulbs into my regular flower beds. 🌱🌱🌱

If you force the bulbs to bloom indoors will they come back again next year?
@TONYAwiththeflowers
@TONYAwiththeflowers 4 года назад
As long as you let the foliage die back naturally, many of the bulbs may come back. I think the best chance of success would be if you planted them out into the yard the following fall or repeat the cold treatment process. Hope that helps!

A super old refrigerator? Check your electric bill. Old refrigerators are energy zappers. Sounds like an expensive way to force flower bulbs.
