It is true. When i stop practicing a piece and come back to it i can do better and even spot mistakes.

Yeah, over practicing isn’t always so great

It’s like that. You never really lose something you learned / memorized before. You definitely get rusty, but it comes back easier than it was

I've kind of been using this method over the last week or so trying to learn what most people consider to be an easy piece. But I found that I could play for an hour or two but then I would burn out so every time I started to make too many mistakesI would walk away for another hour or two and then come back. Every time I took one of these breaks I would actually make more progress than if I had just attempted to play through the break.

I used to make the mistake of powering through. It’s actually the breaks that are super important (consolidation)

Great video. This is text book learning how to learn. Love it, first time I've seen a direct example as it relates to piano. Subscribed.

Spaced repetition is the basis of some modern learning apps that massively speed up learning and memory retention! Edit: damn, you beat me to it by the end of the video lol. Absolutely 100% recommend Anki. I used it originally to learn sheet music, and I use it for all my university studying.

I find the background music very distracting. I would rather just hear your voice😊

The zoom jumping around with the edits is kinda distracting
