I found you when working on web development stuff, and today after a portfolio was rejected I decided I needed more design help so back to RU-vid I went. This series popped up on a search and I no joke just took two pages of notes. Thanks for being out there, being real, and not being pretentious. Absolutely one of the most underrated channels on this platform.

Soo, I couldn't apply art school ,I wasn't ready for exams, I simply didn't pass, and I don't quite understand why even now , my score wasn't bad , but I love drawing and art and everything , and my dream was to become an animator or graphic designer , Your video gave me hope that without that school I can become someone useful in the future, thank you . Btw I am 15 years old . And English is not my mother language .

Just want to say thanks! A few weeks ago I started to learn about Graphic Design but I didn't know where to begin. This video outlined the basics yet vital steps to begin the journey and motivated me even more to be a Graphic Designer. I always thought I could not be a one because I am not that great at drawing but I came to the realization that I don't have to be a Picasso to be able to share my ideas/messages through art. It will be hard since I do work full time but if it's easy then it ain't fun, also I'm a bit lucky that I work for a tech company where I get to interact with graphic designers and get some guidance and feedback. Again, thanks Sir!

Great advice! I'm a designer and can say that I had to go through all of these steps.

I too am a visual learner and note taker. I find it really easy to digest content when I take notes on a topic, then immediately watch a video or two that covers that topic. Rinse and repeat.

You're old at 33? I'm 31 and only just decided to go into graphic design!

Jesse, these free resources are awesome. Alaka'i is starting photography and also learning design from me and from online courses. You should make an in-depth course on all of these and post on teachable so you can make some passive income. You really know your stuff and you're really good at teaching in a way that makes people like my ADHD son, pay attention.

Anyone has any recommendations of online courses/RU-vid channels (preferably free) that go through the theory? And thanks for this video, super helpful and gets me excited to learn! Just starting off :)

I have a marketing background and I am working on starting up my own business as a graphic designer a marketing support but finding hard to create and let go of my portfolio as I think is not good enough. I have created my website but did not publish it yet because I am also thinking it is not good enough. this is only delaying my start as a freelancer or taking opportunities by thinking my work is not good enough. Even though I am Just a kid .when i grow up i wanted to be like you.

Before you learn anything you must "Define" yourself. You got to find what you're passionate about. In order to do that you must explore different designs and get a clear idea on what you want to do. Also, better to get understand about the industry demand ect.
