Cool , that was one of your best how to s videos, it was slower so slow learners like me can follow it. It all makes sense now Sean, sounds like a dance two down, five back or two up and seven forward, old light bulbs are starting to work again...15 min and 26 seconds as Mr. Spock would say to a wonderful free guitar lesson and I think I will go and get some of them there ELIXER strings yall mentioned! Thanks a bunch1
Great lesson Sean. You might want to edit a note in that we already know 5 notes on 6 strings since the E is a repeat😘 newbies might be confused. Truly think you are one of the easiest teachers to listen too and understand on the inter webs! Thank you for all the great content.
Not pushing down this idea, but when I teach my students-I try to make a point to have my students understand that every "E" may share a name, but they are not the same pitch. They have a bunch of notes between each. This may not matter to beginners, but that's because they're unaware that it should matter and it'll be meaningful later. Just like how you can play the same pitch across several strings. Different spot on the guitar, same exact note. Piano players can't get their E's crossed like guitarists can, so I think it's worth specifying that even more in this case. Thoughts?
Totally great information ! Also, every note on the guitar is the 4th from the note above it. Except the B string notes which are 3rds from the G string notes.
How do you get the spatial awareness of how far 7 frets, five frets, two down two over or any other "trick" while you are playing? I can move around the fretboard while practicing these tricks, but while playing I never land in the correct fret. I am usually off by a fret or two
Just subbed based on that intro 😂😂. Have an Ibanez and re-learning after some time…. I’m still trying to not hit the other notes with my tiny fat pain in the ass fingers…..I do try to use the tips of my fingers but the other way feels more comfortable
I find the circle of 4ths helps knowing the notes too, learn the 6th string notes and at any one of them count by fourths now B sting is just a fifth higher than the E strings, I kind of see each fret like this Eg. Open B E E A D G but obviously in there proper positions on the board.
