A great communicator who has a gift. I am 60 years old and developed in the days of dos.. Could go back to stone and chisel. All kidding aside, I stumbled upon JAD's course as I was looking to go back to my grass roots of programming. I am taking his learn java script course and am grasping the concepts. Well worth the time and effort and the results are there.. Keep up the great work Jad.

Following your course on programming, and I absolutely agree that it should be taught separately from JS, especially for beginners like me. I spent months trying to learn JS where the programming lessons were taught simultaneously, and it was extremely frustrating. It's nice to have specific focus on "good form" so to speak, when programming.

Hey want to give cudos to your course. The interactive challenges provide so much more value than mindlessly following a tutorial or lesson. This is the 3rd Js course I've purchased and the only one that delivered real value. Very tempted to buy the react course next even after purchasing Josh Comeau's Joy of React course.
@JadJoubran
@JadJoubran Год назад
Thank you so much Alexander, glad to hear that it worked for you! As for React, I would recommend you build stuff rather than staying in tutorial hell ;) Also, if you've joined the GitHub discussions for the Learn JavaScript course, maybe you want to give the Pair Programming Challenge a try! (it's a pinned discussion)

1. Check if you learn JavaScript or Programming 2. Define your expectation of the Syntax 3. Learn modern Javascript 4. Don't start with the weird parts of Javascript 5. Know the legacy but at later stage. 6. Don't learn JQuery 7. Learn fundamentals properly

I am surprised that you have a course in programming that does not cover the basics of programming. Many people start with Javascript as their first language so seems like you would need to improve your course.

Please let me know to connect Visual studio code on Windows 10 to google chrome. When I try to run javascript code on VSD, it does not return the result on google chrome IDE, like you are able to do it, Also, VS code is connected to Microsoft Edge, how should I change it to google chrome. I run the Javascript on VS code and see the result underneath in the VS code IDE. I want it to appear on google chrome IDE. Please reply back, thanks

Hi, Jad! Thanks for the video! It's very helpful for me. Why are you saying on the 03:45 that "alert" is obsolete for JS? Where I can find more information about this question?
@JadJoubran
@JadJoubran 4 года назад
Hey! You can check the deprecation process here github.com/whatwg/html/issues/2894 (it might not go through) but regardless the problem with "alert" is that it's blocking stackoverflow.com/questions/8825384/alert-is-bad-really#:~:text=It's%20considered%20bad%20design%20because,vast%20majority%20of%20use%20cases. Hopefully the new element would make replacing it easier

I have begun your trial programming course. I am studying for front end development & completer beginner. I'm unsure if I should continue with programming or start JavaScript. Is it necessary to do both ?
@JadJoubran
@JadJoubran 2 года назад
If you're a complete beginner then you should start with the programming course. If your goal is to learn JavaScript, then yes the JavaScript course would follow the programming one. Let's say you wanted to learn Python and you're struggling with another course because its pace is very fast, then you can take the Programming one to understand the concepts and then continue with that original course.
