As a learner i can totally agree with you. And your last point was just chef's kiss. I literally follow the same thing every time i started with a new language. People focus too much on writing skills but if you are learning any language for communication purpose then i think listening and speaking skills matters more. Develop your observation skills and Korean isn't hard. Nice aesthetic and cute voice!♡

I have B1 level in Mandarin Chinese now, and I still cannot write without the help of a computer. However, I can communicate very well and understand very well what people tell me. I will learn how to write later. I feel more fulfilled this way.

i haven't really put any time into studying Korean. I did learn to read 한글 somewhen before 2015 but since then i haven't really done anything :"D i don't want to whine about how good i could've been by now, cuz i don't see why that would help me. I guess what I want to say is, it's never too late to learn something new. You're not too late to learn a new language if you're older than 25 (they say it is easier to learn languages when you are younger) and you're not to late to start a new hobby, switch your profession or pursue another career. Do not think about what other's may think. Do it for yourself. I know that not everyone is able to do so, there are multiple reasons that could lead to you pursuing something you don't want to do (e.g. studying something you do not want to study) but have to do in order to make money etc. but i want you to at least reconsider. If it doesn't make you happy, and you do not see the capacity in yourself to just pull through, please, stop whatever you're doing and pursue YOUR dreams, your goals, your life. Do not try to make anyone happy if it's going to harm your mental health. Do not try to please anyone with your decisions but live for yourself. Take care everyone, stay safe and warm :"D thank you for the video

I resonate so much with this! It's really heard to not get caught up thinking about things I didn't do, or started late, but it's so much easier to just do now rather than worry about what ifs haha >

6:30 I like everything she said from there to the end! Shes absolutely right babies dont have subtitles they just keep listening, and after a while they start to absorb the language and start speaking in it. as a dramaholic i always watched in English subtitles for everything, after 2 years almost 3 since its almost 2022, I do understand halfy fluently in korean, I know a few words.. but I cannot read In korean or speak in korean. witch is what i want to understand more and the first time i watched without subtitles i already understood a fair amount, I was shocked how i knew everything they were saying. and the film was quite old. i had to translate for my Older brother because there were no subtitles and he didnt understand Korean. But i will say having Korean subtitles and listening in korean is better than having english subtitles. you dont have to understand just like she said Babies dont have subtitles when there little right? they absorb! and i think whats important is that you try to understand. hear what there saying and then try adapting to korean subtitles. because i think reading is more important, then you will start to be able to read, and write. and after it wont take you long before you can speak. So i think that method is absolutely the top to go. watch in korean subtitles and listen in korean. if you want to try and understand look around, look at the visual, the scene. slowly after a while you'll understand! hope that helps! ^^

@@Avestalyrics that's if you know how to read in korean letters, but it's always better to listen in and learn korean from websites aswell because the way I understood half fluently is because I listened in to every word and pronunciation ^^ Back then I was very invested in the stories lol.

@@Avestalyrics Then you can start by learning the hangul alphabet, and if your there for the stories more, have it on english subtitles just hear every word and try to memorize some easy words such as 'Jalja' 'Ajumma' 'Pogosipta' 'annyohaseyo' 'annyogihaseyo' 'mogosipta' 'massiso' 'annoyong' stuff like that. ^^ if your starting to understand what they say even without subtitles or not even by looking at the screen that's improvement! if you can read but not always understand do not worry! you can always look up how to form and how sentences are made, It takes a long time you cannot learn any language quickly! ^^

The video's so calm and everything's well-explained! Also, I can totally agree with you for the double subtitles part; I tried doing it with a Netflix extension and the problem with it is that I was focusing on the Korean subtitles and English ones at the SAME time and this was pretty difficult. And sometimes, the translation of subtitles in English are not 100% correct with the Korean ones (because of slangs, metaphors... etc). I really like your tips and advices. Keep going on!! ♥

Another great advice! Thank you so much! Dual subtitles were cool way for me to feel that confidence of being able to understand Korean right away after memorizing its grammar points, learning some vocabulary and also getting used to differences in its sentence structures compere to English ones. But after watching your video I understand that it's like an excuse for staying in a comfort zone and maybe the reason why I still don't feel like thinking in Korean always relying on help of English while consuming content🤔😂 Anyway, I'm excited to use your method from now on! Take care and thanks again, Rhea❤ If I could leave more than one like I would...

i have this on my watch later list and havent seem the video yet, but i think that its definitely possible to learn from kdramas. i did hear that they use a language that you wouldn't use in daily life, but i think kdramas are still useful if you are learning vocabulary. you can start to recognize words and you can kind of test your understanding which i think is especially important for people who don't want to spend a lot of money on listening comprehensions aso

Thank you so much! this video was very informative. It would be helpful if you added Korean subtitles as well because when you say a new word it's hard to look for it. xoxo

lately I've been wondering if i should learn this language seriously because of being a fan of it since 10 yrs old now im 19 and if i one day decide to go there for a vacay i think this is a sign whoever is planning on doing it know that many others are on the same journey and we all wish the same success like her HWAITINGGGG 🌸🌸🌷🌷😌

Have been learning korean language for about 8 months maybe. Difficult in beginning but becomes addictive later on. Learned some from kdrama and some from other. Its so satisfying when can watch a movie or show and not need subtitles. Sometimes subtitles are a little off.
