Peter described difficult relationships as “The cosmic surgery to reveal and remove the toxicity of our own narrative.” Beautiful poetry. 😍

I love this man and his message. Thanks for having him on your show and asking him for self analysis tips. There was so much to take in that I had to keep stopping the video to take notes. So in answer to some of the questions - I always get stuck feeling obligated to "save everyone else" around me because I am a "more realized and evolved person". I do meditation and know how to find fulfillment, but I feel guilty about it. Therefore, I have a subconscious program that says it is my duty and that I am obligated to help everyone else. I also can't seem to find the personal line of my own boundaries and to ask for respect. Fear of retribution I guess.

If someone is expressing judgment that means he or she is experiencing judgment. It is the familiar feeling that he or she have learnt trough their life. If you are born in Spain you will naturally learn Spanish not German. Judgment reflects the belief of not enoughness or inadequacy perfectly ;) It is just a patern.

Hi, I think the “check your privilege” person sees well being and suffering from a socio-historical level while you two “privileged” white males are speaking from the prism of biology and psychology. Of course we humans are nearly identical, the more fundamental of a prism we look ourselves through. Unfortunately, both sides are looking at each other from different levels and both are correct!!! 45 minutes into this conversation and not a sign of any details on the socio-historical grievances of marginalized people at the hands of the white patriarchy which still dominates the world today- and sadly, the inequality is widening! Not trying to insult anyone but unless you touch the issue of tribalism and racism that gave rise to empires and its more potent derivative, ie, the nation state, you are in a futile state of mind which will never experience and empathize with the cause of real objective suffering like hunger, disease and physical violence brought on by mere skin color to those who are darker. For this reason, you don’t get to dismiss the issue of “privilege” using arguments from a different level. Just remember, the last world war was about this very issue and today we are venturing into that context once again because the individualistic side jerks itself off through overcoming amazing inner feats by catching headwinds from a place of accidental privileged birth. Wellbeing from inner identity can be achieved through exactly what you espoused in the conversation, and that’s why you’re half correct. wellbeing from outer identity can’t be achieved through inner discovery! Outer identity formed mostly by the prefrontal cortex, which presumably is more complex-and more complex in this case means we “value” it more as humanity-needs to be prioritized over inner identity. Only then can your guidance of inner peaceful discovery can be achieved. Remember, the outside world exists and our CONSCIOUS identity is mostly formed from there. PS: I know it sounds condescending but that’s exactly how your opponents feel in the way you guys talk. Your only choice remains now is to join the collective as an ally lmao!

I've loved all of the interviews I've heard with Peter Crone, he's brilliant. It was, however, a bit cringey to hear 2 white men carry on talking about "privilege". Aside from that, beautiful conversation.
@thetreasuregarden.creates
@thetreasuregarden.creates Месяц назад
instead of seeing "check your privilege" as an attack or judgment, maybe hear it as "don't forget to consider those who can't". while no person or business can meet the needs of everyone, maybe when someone is frustrated that your service doesn't fit their needs, it's an opportunity to consider how you can grow to reach a demographic that you'd not considered before.

I've seen almost all of Peter's podcasts and he is just amazing, but this is probably the best one yet. To the degree that he shines the brightest is really dependant upon the interviewer and the questions he asks, and man...Max you've done a terrific job interviewing and asking the right questions on issues that we can most resonate with and relate to! Thanks guys!

Victor Frankl who was in the concentration camps said "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms-to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way." For him to have reframed his experiences in this way, whilst being in the worst cicumstance I could imagine, is wonderful to me.

100% self responsibility? That would imply 100% freewill (in my view) and I'm definitely not sold on that concept. These types of matters are quite complex and require a tremendous amount of nuance and multi level thinking in their dissection and explanation (in my view)

My opinion on the "check your privilege" commenter is that their probably quite privileged himself and are feeling guilt out of a lack of exploiting that privilege to help others (which are essentially themselves) and rather than turning inward and freaking with their own issues their projecting outwardly towards someone else. Or maybe their very unprivileged and are doing nothing at all to improve their situation (a lot of effective tools and techniques are quick, free and/or easy) and are simply playing the victim to the hilt.

Sometimes you have to realize that people are down they say negative because the world within them is negative so if you’re trying to help people you wanna go where they’re at not where we’re at and love their little souls, they just need love just like the interviewer says. When somebody is negative it’s up to me to see what it affects in me. Where does it hit something in me that I need to look at and work on. I know that Peter explained that but I still hear you saying that people need to do something else and sometimes they don’t know how sadlyuntil they feel the love within, they won’t be able to represent anything without. Love always.

When legislation treats certain speech as criminal and if you are thrown in jail for it, was it your responsibility to not utter the word? Are you responsible for being in jail, or is society to blame for the norms it has created? Before marijuana was legalized, was it wrong? Responsibility can quickly morph into being trampled on by corporations committing their own versions of injustices. It's all about what you're willing to live with and bear responsibility for. It's all about what helps you sleep at night.

We do not arrive in this world with the belief or feeling of inadequacy. Somewhere in the process of life, experiences of treatment and what words and criticisms that have been directed upon us do create feelings of inadequacy. It then takes some work and awareness to realize where these beliefs or feelings started and let them go. So, yes, our words, comments and treatment toward each other is profoundly important to conscientiously be aware of...the ripple effect they may have.

Agreed. Like it or not there are people who live with more possibilities whether it's their upbringing, connection, education or location. And it's so obvious for them that easy to judge those who pont it out. Living in the UK or in the US or in Australia is a sort of a privilege even if they do not consider it! Even study loan is a privilege. So many general statements. Great podcast though but I feel there is more to the picture. Imagine your life in central Africa. You had the same "western" hardship! Would you create "free" (no ad free) content in a warm studio? Great content but thinking is required!
