Rough country is the worst quality shit you could buy. You did a nice job but unfortunately you bought the econo box shocks. You're going to regret that in 10,000 mi
Thanks for the input, and for watching. This isn’t my personal vehicle. It was a customer build and everyone has different budgets. For this basic lift, it was a decent kit and the customer still loves it 25k miles later.
thank you so much for the video !! i have been debating big time on what lift to go with. this video as sold me the 3.5 from rough country is the route i would like to go!! great video btw
You make the install so easy lol different case for me. I couldn't get that UCA bolt out even after bending the shit out of the inner fender. They literally made it so you can't take out the UCA bolt out. No joke i bent the shit out of the inner Fender and still couldn't get it out
@PSFGarage yes got it done had to shave down the washer on the uca bolt flat so I could slid it through. Made it easy that way. Really like the RC kit. For the money it's a killer deal. People talk crap about RC lifts but I'm happy with mine.
I bought the 3.5in lift kit from rough country for my 2021 TRD 4x4 Tacoma, it’s the $800 one. It didn’t come with the differential washers. Do I still need to make a cut on the bracket for the differential? Or is it fine to leave like that?
I bought the full 3.5 kit with UCA and leaf packs for my 2017 TRD off-road. I didn't need to cut anything. That $800 kit should've come with the diffental Spacers though. My kit came at different times. I didn't receive it all at once. It took like a week to get everything. With the $800 kit, you should get the spacers. I would contact RC if you don't.
Shocked how much rust a 4 y/o truck can have. I'm assuming that was the reason for the cutting wheel? I've heard mixed reviews on RC lifts. Nice tutorial vid though, thank you!
That’s so much for checking it out Phillip and great questions! I’ve added links to 2 versions of the kit to the video description. With the full leaf spring setup, it’s only about $1100. Totally worth it! You can get it direct from Rough Country or from their Amazon store at the link I shared in the description. Thanks again for watching 🤙🏼
Sick setup! You think this lift would be fine on a 2WD Tacoma? Does it need to do a diff drop? It’s just gonna be a daily truck use from Costco runs lol
Thanks so much. Yeah, they have a 2wd version! Don’t know about what’s need in the front for 2wd but it’s easy install in the 4wd so you should need a diff drop. Daily use is the best 💪🏼
I know I am probably going to catch some heat for this. However, I am looking to do the same 3.5 lift and I want to clear 275/60R20's with 20x9 -12 wheels. I know you said yours fits 33's with no rubbing without the mudflaps, do you think a skinnier tire like to 275/60r20 would fit with no rubbing as well? I live in DC so its more of a city drive around truck for me, so dont hate to much!
Hey, to each his own! No hate from me on that, whatever you’re into is cool with me. Hard to say on that size. Seems like it would probably fit since the tires are a bit narrower than the 12.5 wide ones I was running. I give it a good chance of working! Worst case, you need to do a little light trimming or add a spacer or something but not much. Do it!!
Super helpful! I have an ‘18 SR5 DCLB that I am going to be lifting in the near future. I am struggling between the 3.5in and the 6in from RC. I am leaning towards the 6in due to my particular likes for aesthetics. Any advice? Have you done the 6in RC lift before?
I did the rc 3” lift shocks but used Jba ucas and ome 2.75” lift leaf springs in the rear. Very happy with my setup. -18 offset wheels with 33s cab mount chop. Pinch weld hammered, also viper cut.
No training or education needed, just get your hands dirty and start doing it yourself 💪🏼 If you have an interest in trying things like this, start doing it and you’ll figure it out, that how you get the experience 👍🏼 Great question and thanks for watching.
@@PSFGaragebrother I have a 2020 Tacoma 2wd. And I put the same rc 3.5 lift kit and I put Yokohamas mt 285 75 r16 . Before installing the new tires I have wrangler duratrac 265 70r16 and no issues on the highway, now with the Yokohamas tires I feel a slightly vibration on my steering wheel at 55 to 60mph. Also it feels like a bearing is go bad when I’m braking close to a stop light. Some people say they had zero issues with this tires. What do you think is the problem?
nice video bro.... what tires do you have before.. Im looking to install this kit but i dont have budget to change tires right now. Im running I think the same tires are your old one. Wranglers Duratrac 267/70/16. are those the one you removed? Just wanted to see how will look the truck with the lift and the 265 tires. Thanks
Thanks man, I appreciate it! They were actually 245/75R17, which is about 32”. If you picked up a set of spacers for now and push them out a bit, it would look good until you can get the tires you want. It’ll look good man, it’s not a huge difference in size.
I did the RC leveling kit on my 2018 Taco and still sitting on stock 16” tires and wheels. Looking at adding the KMC KM719 wheels or something like it in an 17” or 18” rim wrapped in LT285 tires. Currently have a vibration when slowing down from about 80mph, that I have yet to see where(feeling it in the brake pedal), have you had any problems?
Sounds like an awesome truck! Great choice with those KMC’s too. Hmm, I haven’t had that issue with this one personally but could potentially be in the brakes? 2018 is pretty new but I guess it depends on how much you’re driving it, brakes could be ready for some changing, maybe even just pads? Hard to say.
Well I found out once I replaced the stock 16” rims and 245’s with 11/4” hubcentric spacers that the spacers caused the vibration, no spacers now and new tires and rims, poof- gone.
Thanks man, and sorry for the delay on the response. It’s a different kit for 2wd but Rougg Country has 3”, 4” and 6” for your truck depending on what you’re comfortable doing. Hint: Go 6” 💪🏼
Heck yeah ! Mines almost identical. I currently have invested close to $12,000 into mine. My next move is a hunting fridge in the back seat area, I just did a Goose rear seat delete…
Great question! I'd say it rides event better than stock on the road and seems to absorb bumps better at mid to high. speeds off road. By no means is this thing going to get moving real fast through some whoops or bumps off road but it does really well for the way its setup. In slower off road situations I notice it the most. Great articulation to keep the tires planted where they need to be. Thanks for the question and for watching!
@supergirl109 got a 2020 taco 2.7 the most reliable engine going on 140k miles never done a thing to it but oil changes religiously still rides like the day I baught it, waiting on the 2024 to come out still gunna keep my 2020 love it !
