Thanks for the new video I dont have the air problem as mine have the larger vents. Actually used a pair hung on beams during a power cut and its surprising how much light they chuck out when your eyes adjust.
Hi, wonder if a could pick your brain. 😂 I have the chance of buying a type 6, a lot or all the posts are corroded. Would it be easy enough to clean them or would they need replacing. Cheers.
@@andrewmcleod347 The glass posts can be cleaned up with wire wool 0000 grade. Polish on the wire wool and elbow grease. Wire wool 0000 grade is good on brass but do not use on stainless steel.
Have you tried Methylated Spirits in the miners spirit lamps, and if so, what are your thoughts; as the cost seems significantly lower than Coleman type fuels. Regards, Mike
@@LampBoy3583 Thanks for the quick reply. On the very few occasions so far, when I've used our "presentation" type No.6 Eccles lamp, I've used Aspen-4 lawnmower fuel, which is clean burning and also has been recommended as an alternative fuel for Coleman camping stoves and pressure lamps; which works very well in my examples. I have a good supply of Methylated Spirits for our Trangia spirit stoves, so I'll try some in my no.6 lamp and report back. Regards, Mike
@@Traveling-LiteI've never used Aspen 4 but have heard good things about it. I use Upol fast panel wipes, I found out about it in a camping site as it could be used in camping stoves as a cheaper substitute to Coleman's.
