Thanks for this informative video! Two questions just to confirm my understanding, would you be able to just go over event cancellation? And its expected to get paid about 5-10 business days (may be longer depending based on comments) after the sell date or after the event date?
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 2 года назад
Event cancellation works fairly straightforward. If your event is cancelled, you’ll be reimbursed for your purchase in a timeframe of about 2 -4 weeks from the exchange. It can be extended if you purchased it directly from Ticketmaster/box office as it also depends on the promoter for returning the funds as well. For sales made on Ticketmaster, you’ll generally be paid out about 1-2 weeks after the event takes place. If you sold tickets and then the event was subsequently cancelled, your sale will be cancelled so you won’t get paid out for that, but then you’ll also receive a refund for your purchase so net 0 in the end

is there a strategy i should know as to when i should put my tickets to sell so that they may 100% be sold every time
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 2 года назад
Well you could just price everything as cheap as possible and it’ll sell 100% of the time, but there’s no guarantee you’ll make any money doing that (in fact it’s likely you’ll lose money). You should look to price your tickets similarly to what they are going for in a similar section and row as yours. If you price more aggressively, you can reduce your prices a bit compared to them if you’d like to get rid of your seats faster but you are likely leaving money on the table that way. It’s a lot of trial and error at the start

Hi Shiraz, great tutorial! I'm currently reselling a couple concert tickets on TM. They're for December, one weekday and one weekend day. However, I noticed I have the option of selling them either in pairs/groups or individually because some seats I bought are next to each other. What info about the show do you think could help me decide which option to go with, for greater chances of selling? I assume it'd be harder to sell 5 tickets altogether, because it's more expensive. 2 ideas I had was checking surrounding seats to see what other sellers are doing and whether they're successful, and considering the section the seats are in. Cheaper seats might have a higher chance of attracting a whole group, while floor seats might see more traffic from individual buyers.
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun Год назад
Your general logic isn’t wrong, though if you list a pack of 5 tickets together, there should generally be an option to list the tickets in groups so that it can sell tickets either as 2/3 or 1/4, and let the buyers out there decide how they want to attend. Just because you have that large set of tickets together doesn’t mean you need to force it as a set of 5 only, though there are definitely some groups out there who are looking for larger sets and may even consider purchasing 5 seats all together. There’s no wrong way of approaching it though
@moisdawg

I want to resell my paramore ticket purchased but I don’t want to sell the other two on my account. How do I sell the ticket to someone else and transfer the ticket to them without them having to log into my account? The resale and transfer button is not available for my tickets so I want to sell on another site. I’m just not sure how to transfer the tickets to that person once it’s sold
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun Год назад
Great question! So to start off, you always have the option of listing and selling any number of tickets in your account, it doesn’t need to be all or nothing. If the event is not enabled for Ticketmaster resale, your next best option will be to use a resale site like Stubhub to list and sell tickets as mobile transfer in this case. Paramore has what is called a delivery delay on their tickets until a few days before each show, meaning the transfer option may not be enabled until potentially 24-72 hours before the show takes place. However, once the delay is lifted, you will be able to transfer any number of tickets. When listing on a site like Stubhub, you can select your in hand date of when your tickets will be ready to be as late as possible (ie 2 days before the show) and if your tickets sell before then, you will just have to transfer the tickets to the new buyer once the transfer window opens up, and leave your own tickets that you want to keep and use in your account

Thanks for an informative video! Has anyone tried selling tickets on TM and it's still showing up on your account as unsold even after you got an email saying that it was? I was trying to sell 4 tickets and managed to sell 2, almost two weeks ago. Since I haven't sold the last two yet, I was going to lower the selling price but when I looked into my account, it still says I have 4 tickets available for resale. Can buyers back out once they've paid? Or is it not updating because the event hasn't passed yet?
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 2 года назад
That’s an odd one! Maybe can contact TM to confirm the seats have actually sold by referencing the sale email and confirmation number you get. It could just be a display issue on the backend where it’s showing the original tickets still even though new barcodes were issued

@thumbsuprun

Many resale marketplaces are only doing ‘pay after event’ because they are trying to conserve cash. The payout will likely only take place 2 weeks after the event is completed. So if it gets delayed a year, then your payment will also get delayed :(

Some states do require a license such as New York, though it’s only for ‘professional’ resellers who meet the criteria for this label. For the average fan selling a ticket here and there though, you normally don’t need a license but would still need to report the income for tax purposes

Excellent question! It’s my understanding that you would be able to list and sell your tickets but I haven’t used Klarna before so will need to look into it in detail. Is your ticket eligible for transfer from your account right now? If yes, you should be able to sell the ticket. It’s possible Ticketmaster may restrict it but you could sell it from a different platform (Stubhub, seat geek etc) as long as the ticket is able to be transferred.

Thanks for the video. I already did this but tbh I am afraid that we are not gonna be able to actually get our money back and we will not sell the ticket for the price that she paid for. Any advice? Thank you again :)
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 2 года назад
Well if you’re looking to sell the ticket now instead of use them, there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to sell it for enough to get back all your money you paid depending on the cost of the tickets your mom paid. You can certainly try to list them for enough and hope someone does purchase them though at the price you like! It’s tough when you purchase resale tickets since the cost can be much higher. See what people are currently selling tickets for in a similar section and row as yours and see if they are around the price you paid (or more or less)

What does face price mean in Ticketmaster?
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 2 года назад
Face price or face value means how much the ticket was actually listed at to the general market once an event goes on sale. Face value prices could be $50 for a seat, but the market value price could be $70 if someone was trying to resell it elsewhere. However, the original price of the ticket was that $50 face value on the ticket stub

If the event is on Ticketmaster and the ‘sell tickets’ button is available, you won’t need to post out the tickets at all - Ticketmaster handles issuing new barcodes directly when they sell. If you bought them not from Ticketmaster though, you can list your tickets on other resale sites like Stubhub, vivid seats or tickpick as hard stock tickets and then you will be able to ship the hard stock tickets to the buyer with the prepaid shipping label provided by the resale exchange

From the sound of it, your barcodes will be available on ticketmaster 3 days prior, but to sell your tickets it becomes a little more complicated. What event is it? Basically if they require the main purchaser to show ID to walk into the venue, you could sell your additional tickets but you would need to walk them in to actually get into the event. Not sure if the event will allow you to sell all your tickets or not though. Need a bit more info

Great tutorial! One question, and apologies in advance if you have already answered, but what can one do when the "Sell Tickets" and the "Transfer Ticket" options are greyed out and unavailable? They are also "Will Call" tickets so no barcode or QR code... :(
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 2 года назад
If they are grayed out, you’re a big at a loss in terms of selling the tickets via Ticketmaster and most other resale sites. To actually sell will call tickets, you have a couple of options. 1) you need to call the venue or contact Ticketmaster to see if you can do a name change on the order. If yes, then you can basically sell the tickets privately and then just make sure to update the name for pickup to the new buyer. I would check with the venue first before trying to sell the tickets. 2) you agree to meet the buyer at the venue before the event and pick up the tickets yourself and then hand deliver them to the new buyer. Only works if you are able to actually go and pick up the tickets though. Some venues will even let you pick up tickets well in advance of the event date but again you need to call the venue first to confirm if they offer this. Many times it’s day of show only.

Yes there is! You basically need to find a listing for the event that has ‘all session’ or ‘3 day’ in the title. I see a couple of listings, notably the one on vivid seats that is selling tickets in both single day and 3 day session passes. Just make sure you list in the correct one and price your tickets accordingly as well. You can also include an attribute on your ticket such as the parking pass to highlight this additional perk

There is usually an option to select ‘odd even’ type seating. This way it’ll know to skip every other seat number. Worst case sometimes is to just list them as 22,23,24 in your listing but as long as your seats are actually all next to each other, it’ll be fine for the buyer when they receive the seats if there is a minor mismatch on the seat number itself

How to sell….. if event is not available to SELL
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun Год назад
If the event isn’t enabled to sell on Ticketmaster, you can normally list and sell on a different platform (as long as the tickets are transferable in some form - either mobile transfer or eticket download). If they are transferable, you can use a platform like viagogo or Stubhub depending on the country where the event is taking place

Question: if I have 3 tickets for sale (seats next to each other) could someone only buy 2 because I do not want that I want all 3 to sell together?
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 2 года назад
When listing tickets, the standard is to never leave 1 seat on its own. If you leave everything as default, the tickets will sell as a single, or a group of 3. If a single is purchased, than the 2 remaining seats will only be sold as a pair. There should generally be an option to say ‘don’t leave 1 ticket’ but the standard is to ensure it doesn’t leave only 1. Which platform are you looking to list on?
@carmenvito4341

Hi! When I price my tickets I should include the fees I paid correct? So if the ticket cost is $100, tax is $20 and service fee $14 for a total of $134 per ticket -that is what I paid. I should keep that total cost in mind correct? It's too bad it doesn't list the price you paid so that you can compare it without having to look back to see what was paid. :-)
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 3 года назад
Yes. Include all fees and charges when tracking your ticket costs. Depending on how many tickets you sell, you really want to track the tax side as your accountant may be able to help you claim some of it back on your taxes 🙌🏽😁

hey. I have a question. I have bought TWICE tickets from a reseller and it cost a huge amount of money ($988). Im thinking of selling my ticket, but im scared of it not being sold and losing my money. If it doesn’t sell by that day, can I still keep the ticket and go to the concert?
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 2 года назад
Hello! Absolutely. If you list a ticket, you can always delist it at any time before it sells and use the ticket yourself. So if you list it and are unable to sell it by the event date, you can simply attend the concert. Just make sure you don’t leave the listing up or else you may run into trouble if it sells last minute and you don’t realize
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 2 года назад
Great question! The simple answer is no. If you haven’t been paid out and the event is cancelled, you are not responsible for issuing the refund to the buyer. Ticketmaster will take care of it since they don’t need to recuperate the payment from you
@genesisr1752

If I purchased ticket insurance In case the event gets cancelled do I have to refund the $$ back to the person or does Ticketmaster do it directly to the person who bought it off of me ?
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 3 года назад
I think you may be mixing up a few different things. 1) ticket insurance only applies if the ticket purchaser is no longer able to attend the event due to a covered reason (ie sick, travel issues, etc) 2) if an event gets cancelled, Ticketmaster will refund the original ticket purchaser only. If the tickets were resold to someone else, Ticketmaster will NOT refund the final purchaser. 3) if you resold your tickets on a resale marketplace (Ticketmaster, Stubhub, etc) and the event gets cancelled, the seller is responsible for refunding the purchaser. However, if you’ve not been paid for the sale yet, then you won’t owe anything when the event gets cancelled. You’ll simply receive a refund from Ticketmaster if you are the original purchaser. Hope that clears it up!

Great tutorial. Quick question. How do we list the sale of our tickets as a group instead of as individual tickets?
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun Год назад
Ticketmaster allows you to set the number of tickets sold as a group when going through the split selections. If you have a group of let’s say 8 tickets, you can sell the seats as 2,4,6, or 8 together. If you had an odd number of tickets in the group, you can also again set your sale grouping to be almost any type of split but generally it will never allow you to leave only 1 seat remaining. For GA tickets though it’ll allow any type of split since all GA tickets are equivalent

hi! i sold one of my tickets 2 weeks ago. i still haven't received any money on my bank. how long does it usually take to get the payment?
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 4 года назад
It usually takes about a 5-8 business days for payment to post if you sold them directly through Ticketmaster to your bank, and then your bank may take a few days to process the payment as well. If you try contacting customer support they would be able to tell you what’s going on though. I wouldn’t be too worried yet, they are a little slow at times...

The 1099 is needed when selling tickets in the US when your sales exceed $600 this year. If you’re not a US citizen then you should be able to get an exemption but otherwise yes it’s definitely mandatory to fill out the info. Take it up with the IRS 😭😅

@thumbsuprun 4 года назад
Very valid question! I’m actually making a video on this whole topic this week 😄 Basically though, if you sell tickets to someone through Ticketmaster, you’re responsible for issuing the refund and that amount is charged directly to your credit card that you added to your account. Ticketmaster will then issue you a refund for your purchase to the same card you used to buy the tickets originally. It’s a little convoluted but you are still going to get your money back haha. Let me know if it’s still unclear or not
@lovjfamily2090
@lovjfamily2090 3 года назад
So just so I understand I would refund the buyer and then ticket master would refund me? Also what about if they buy insurance for there tickets?
@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 3 года назад
If you sell your tickets through Ticketmaster, Ticketmaster will pay you for the sale. Then if the event is later cancelled, you’ll have to repay the ticket sale amount back to Ticketmaster. However, you’ll get a refund from where you bought your tickets from. So if you had originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster, you’ll get a refund on your original purchase from them. If the person who bought your tickets purchased insurance, this will have no impact on you because insurance only applies for events that you can no longer attend for a listed reason and the insurance provider will pay the ticket buyer a payout equal to the ticket cost they paid. You will not be affected by any insurance claims, you’ll be paid out as normal

@thumbsuprun
@thumbsuprun 2 года назад
Some events on Ticketmaster do not enable resale for a multitude of reasons. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t resell the tickets. Once you have your barcodes, you can attempt to list them directly on Stubhub as they are the official resale partner for the MLB. Otherwise you can list the tickets on various other platforms like TickPick as mobile transfer tickets (so long as the transfer option is enabled)

If the transfer button is avaialble, it means you would be able to sell your tickets on a different platform (Stubhub, tickpick, Gametime, etc) as mobile transfer tickets. Once they sold on another platform, you’d simply need to transfer the ticket to the new buyer to complete the sale

If you’re trying to sell tickets in a different country than you live in on Ticketmaster, you need to have a bank account in that country the event is taking place in. You can choose to have your listing of 4 tickets to be sold as a pair or as a set of 4. It’s completely up to you! It’s easier to let the buyer be able to decide between 2 and 4 instead of forcing them one way or the other. In general most listings will default to only selling in even amounts depending on the site you list it to
