How to load 10 bit 4:2:2 footage in DaVinci Resolve

Thank you. ive been searching for an hour for this. Short and sweet: 4:2:2 10bit you need Resolve studio OR more convert using free software.

my computer does not render fast with video card, when i record in 4.2.2 10 bit. only recognizes 4.2.0.

Looks like this method corrupts the original file? I was able to open the 10Bit file in VLC player. but post the conversion I cant open it in VLC. This is damn risky. Also the file converted(8bit) has got 5.5 times bigger size than the 10bit . My podcast video file (10bit) is 97GB - 3.5 hours recording.Post conversion to 8bit - the file is 550GB -- now I am worried that it will be too difficult to render. Plus the original file cant be played in VLC too and the forum says it could be corrupted !!! I am doomed. :( (

Any idea if this changes the frame rate of footage? I followed the guide and it seems to drop my 50FPS footage to 25FPS.. Any thoughts? Great video btw, thanks!

Thank you so much. just got an fx30 and was recording in XVAC S 4k 200M 4:2:2 10bit Log P11. when I got hove My video player would play the files but Davinci Resolve could not render. I was stressed and thought I S.O.L. but your solution worked. Thank you soo much. You saved me big time. Got my subscription. 👍🐾

Hi! Can you please give some additional info? I followed the steps but my 10-bit video shows as a broken TV in VirtualDub2. Like a TV with lost connectivity. When I go to video > compression, I don't see as many options so I can't choose the one you've chosen. Can you share more settings?

Thanks for the great video, I'm running into some problems though. When I try to upload my footage, i receive an error saying i have an unsupported file type. I downloaded (and paid) for the HEVC in microsofts store. But it doesn't seem to solve the issue, I still get the same error even after downloading the HEVC Video Extensions app. Any way to get around this? I shot 10 bit 422 4k on my a7s4

I can’t import the ProRes file into Resolve. Both when I try dragging and dropping it to the media bin as well as using File > Import > Media, nothing happens. Not even an error message. Do you have any idea what could be up with that? :O Even if you don’t, thanks so much for the tutorial. I just got a camera capable of 10 bit video and BOY was I dumbfounded to learn that Windows can’t play that and Resolve wants you to pay before working with it. After watching a million camera reviews, I would’ve thought I’d have heard about that by now... but NOPE. That was completely new to me.

What if I have the Studio version but still have this issue with 10 bit videos? Anyone know what could cause this?

Davinci let’s me bring in H264 10 bit 422 files at 4K 23 fps but not theS&Q 4K 60fps 10 bit 422, which also have h264 codec. Any idea why Davinci might have let the lower fps files play?

THIS IS REALLY USEFUL. THANKS A LOT !!! Your video can save me from paying high amount on Da Vinci Studio which I do not need. However, it is crashing when I am trying to save the file. First time it gave out of memory error while second time it gave a formal page out-of-bounds memory access. I have 64GB RAM and ample amount of hard disc space. Do you know what can be the issue

Thanks for the video! I did the conversion of the files but when imported to DaVinci the video lags a bit and the sound disappears at times. I've also tried linking proxy media (created from the original files) but it doesn't work. When I try that, I don't get the option "Link Proxy Media". Instead it says "Link Full Resolution Media". I've tried the option "Relink Proxy Media" but I get a window that says "Invalid Proxy Selected: Please select a proxy clip with a matching framerate and overlapping timecode". Any idea why this happens? Should I create new proxies from the converted files?

Hey Guys I have my Mavic 3 classic and I recorded in 4:2:2 H.265 4k in 10 bit D-log when I do this workaround will it keep all the settings and quality as if I used the studio version of DaVinci? is the problem that my file is not pro res? thank you guys for your time.

with this method filesize is huge. For my 10bit Osmo Pocket 3 footage I used Shutter Encoder and converted to "Apple ProRes: Proxy" Setting. (1.5 - 2.5x filesize instead of 10x)

installed the codec from microsoft store and still won't play media. won't even play 10-bit XAVC-S 4K. fucking sad works on my macbook air guess that's where I'll be editing. have free resolve and it doesn't care about 10-bit footage like windows version. so shitty

Totally misleading title. Make sure you mention H265 10 bit 422 on the FREE version of resolve.
