I would add if you have folding mirrors fold them in first . When the kayak does slip and fall it will take your mirror with it . A car mirror is from $ 100 to $800 depending on what you drive . I was lucky it was an older Ford truck and was able to find one at a wrecking yard for $65 . And for my 2024 Outback that mirrors do everything you can imagine , , , I don't even want to guess what that would cost .

When my kayak sliced the passenger side mirror off my Honda Pilot, the replacement mirror cost me just under $500. Thanks to RU-vid I was able to replace it myself, saving about $1200 labor cost that the dealer quoted.

I tried to roof rack a autopilot 136 yesterday. There are not enough words to describe how much of a nightmare that is. You 100 percent need a trailer for these.

2017 .. 1st Kayak .. 2017 Hobie Mirage Tandem .. Chevy Colorado .. within 15 minutes , on the boat lines out .. Now Jeep Wrangler 30 minutes to lines out ..not bad for a 60 + old guy

Jun, you need 2 pieces of rugs. One on the roof of the car and the other on the floor. So you won't scratch your car or the kayak. See you out on the water.

I put my strap on the ends of the bars to keep the kayak from sliding on the vehicle. The kayak will slide on the straps and save your paint.

Hardest part for me is keeping the stern from slipping out when I lift the bow to put on the rack. I mostly solved that with a line from the truck to the stern thelinekeeps thestern in place.

Thank you for a great and informative video! Can you tell me are those Thule DockGrip 895 that you have on your Roof bar? If so, I was wondering how are they holding up since their maximum load capacity is 85lb? I have to make a trip of around 4-5h on highway doing 80 mi/h with Feelfree Dorado V2 on the roof and it is 124lbs... Thank you in advance!

you should put a towel under the kayak when sliding it down from the roof! so you don't scratch the paint off.

If you drive a honda, the honda oem rack is just like this design but a little better with quick release and overall better design. They include all the straps as well.

Everybody is different. What your capabilities are is not the same as somebody else so nobody can answer that question for you. But in general always go with a partner, start out with waves less than 4ft every 12 seconds and see what your tolerance level is. Join NCKA to hook up with others so you are never alone.

Are you just sliding that Kayak on the top of your roof? Your going to scratch the paint and the salt water will start to rust your roof in no time. Put down heavy sheet plastic or try towel

Hey Jun good stuff as always. Hey man I noticed on the Hali Berry you lost with the broken line you set the hook pretty hard. With all the deckhands, friends ect I have fished with, I’ve always been told with the patties, you shouldn’t set the hook. I’ve always heard it’s best to reel in a few times before lifting rod up out of holder and that sets the hook and then you just continue to reel in without any forced hook set. Just wanted to share what I’ve learned in all my years. Keep up the great videos.

You’re giving away measuring tape, why not secure/attach one in your kayak, to be sure the size limit is determined, before releasing the caught fish. Ingat lagi, marami kang kids at batang-bata pa sila, they need you in their growing up to be like you and your understanding wife. Good father model, kasi nag aalaga ng mga kids pag busy si Wifey.
