Good tips! We used a plank of wood, then put it on it's stand and put a milk container to protect the fork seals,then just tie down. Most utes/trucks don't fit bikes well anymore,i now prefer a trailer or bike trailer with a toolbox and jerry can holders.👍

Lol before I could afford a ramp I used to load my 250 into the back of my tall ass truck by myself, just grab the forks n lift the tire onto the tailgate then lift the skid plate onto the tailgate, hold the bike at you hop up, manhandle it the rest of the way up, bada Bing bada boom

very good but the thing I most want to learn about was were to put the tie downs on the bike and whether to compress the suspension or not. Some people says it can cause damage to compress the suspension.
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 5 лет назад
Compressing does put some extra pressure on the fork seals and I certainly wouldn't leave them compressed for extended periods of time (over night), but if you're concerned about that, we carry fork savers that go between the fender and the tire so you can tie your bike down very secure without compressing the forks hardly at all. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/rider-cargo-motorcycle-fork-brace-p

Hitch carriers are great if you have an SUV or van, even with a truck they are lower and easier to load by yourself, but I would prefer using the bed of a truck incase your bike gets tore up really bad and won't sit on it's wheels, can still haul the parts home :) But would get a good one like a versahaul and make sure it has a stabilizer, and tail lights

@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 5 лет назад
Steve, I have to respectfully disagree on that. Riding up a skinny ramp vs. riding on a trail are two different things. I know several riders who are comfortable riding on a trail and don't have the skills or confidence to ride up a ramp. Riding up a ramp requires a lot of confidence and momentum, and once you're on the ramp, a lot more can go wrong than being on a trail. For riders who are confident, go right ahead, but for many riders, I don't think it's that easy.-Chase

I have a KTM 625sxc with a 5 gal tank and i can barely push/pull the rear of bike to the side in my bed to close the gate let alone push it up the ramp even with a tall friend and here you guys are making the act of lifting the bike like you got the strength of 4 guys . I'd like to see you fellas do that with a 650+cc 4 stroke bike . I'll give you one thing tho i didnt think of ratchet straping the ramp to the hitch when loading / unloading .
