In this video I'm talking about how I keep up with the hard to find summer crappie. I talk about some of my favorite cranks and we catch some great slabs.

Hey - - - I thought we needed at least an $80,000 dollar boat to catch fish like that. Thanks for the catch release

Great video! I’m new to pulling cranks with my husband, and I love it! I use Arkie cranks.

Hey Matt! Thanks for the tips today. Been too hot here lately to do much fishin. Good thing I still have a bag of crappie in the freezer!

@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236 6 лет назад
Lois White Cross yeah it's been really really hot here as well. Add the fact that the waters down literally four feet and it's been a very difficult summer to fish for sure! In fact trolling is one of the only things working right now and even it takes a lot of commitment to figure out the patterns which seem to change every 3 or 4 hours.

It was my pleasure to serve our great nation; would do it all over again with no regrets. I'm retired now, so the wife and I are loaded up and going to hit the water "in search of..." in the early morning (northwest corner of South Carolina, Lake Keowee).

Bandits have been around forever yet ive never fished one. Looks like they do the job
@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236
@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236 6 лет назад
James Barron I honestly don't think there's a better option than the Bandit 300 when it comes to trolling crappie. But the Strike King 3xd does come in rather close.

If you haven't tried them #5 flicker shads work just as good if not better. And cost less when your trolling trees ticking the tops your going to lose a few. Nice video. And do like the Bandits.

I do have some of the flicker shads and I like them overall. I've had a problem with them not trailing very straight. If they could fix that they would be an excellent trolling rig.

What speed was the big motor pushing you? And were your lines out at a certain length or you just casting and guessing? Enjoyed the video.
@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236
@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236 5 лет назад
The main motor runs about 2 mph. I guestimate 80 ft of line out which runs 20 ft deep on a bandit 300 or strike king 3xd. Thanks for watching.

Very informative and entertaining. Do you have any luck trolling along bluffs? Thanks for sharing.
@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236
@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236 6 лет назад
Paul S yeah actually I have noticed that schools of crappie do sit up against Bluffs sometimes. Where I fish there's only a couple stretches of Bluffs so I haven't done it very often but a friend of mine does that all the time at lake of the ozarks and he seems to have a lot of luck with Bluffs.

Hey buddy, good video. A general question for you. What was your trolling speed and what was the depth for your crankbaits to go to catch crappies?
@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236
@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236 5 лет назад
I run between 1.4 and 2.5 mph. I usually try 1.4 first and jump incrementally. On this day they were very deep. I believe it was like 22ft. Usually finding the depth is the hardest part.

Great video! One question though... How fast are you trolling?
@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236
@discoveryoutdoorskcfishing236 6 лет назад
Chris Kneece GREAT question. My favorite speed is 1.5mph if its warm and clear water kick it up to 2 mph.
