Max I love dresses, float blouses, light structured tanks and t-shirts and skirts ❤️ Plus accessories like a straw hat, small bag and silk scarf tied in your hair or on your bag and delicate sandals always look beautiful
"I don't think that you need to wear heels to look sophisticated." hallelujah! Thanks Audrey, you share your ideas and thoughts with such elegance and poise that you always leave me feeling calm and joyful after I finish your videos. Congratulations on the obvious success your channel is.
Thank you, Audrey for those tips. My mother was a trained opera singer. She took classes at the Boston Conservatory. She use to be in the chorus of a theater group in Boston known as the Peabody Players. She always sang in our house to me to herself, in the shower and putting me to bed. She sang opera, musicals and the American songbook and cute songs from the 30's, 40's and 50's. I grew up knowing a lot of music. Plus my parents went to Cuba on their honeymoon and brought back a love of Cuban, Spanish and South American music. I am always surprised when I ask my husband if he knows a certain song I will be singing along to and he always says, "No". I also took piano lesson when I was about 6 for about 8 years and of course I took ballet, tap and jazz lessons and learned a lot more about classical music from there. My parents started taking me to museums like the Decordova (modern) and the Museum of Fine Arts when I was just 5 years old. They also started to take me to operas and musicals around the same time. My college gift was a family vacation to Italy. Every year after that I went to Europe and when I got married I continued to travel, even getting a job flying around America, Canada and Europe. I always agree with your suggestions and now that I am retired, I go to Yoga classes every day, as well as Pilates and other classes. Posture is of great importance to me as well. Yesterday, I gave away 5 trash bags of clothing trying to figure out what to keep and what to let go. I will not be going to the office anymore, so it is hard to know what to give away and what to keep. I have a few sentimental outfits like my St John's suit that I can't seem to let go. But with your help and suggestions, it helps me to know which ones I should keep and which to toss. Also, what items to add in a more thoughtful manner. Thanks again, sometime you will have to sing for us. I always love your background music. :-)
I am following you for a few years now and I must say that you and Justine Leconte are my favorite You tubers. The rest that I liked ( and followed) have changed in time (on worst),but you two, both are still natural, professional, knowledgeable, charming and I really enjoy watching your videos. If we are talking about being sophisticated, you now ,with shorter hair, look much more sophisticated, elegant and groomed. Long hair is good for teenagers IMO. Keep on going.
Audrey - you mentioned tailored jeans. I’m always on the hunt for good sophisticated jeans. Will you do a video about jeans; brands you like, etc. Thank you for your videos, you are lovely and the videos you provide are super helpful.
I love your videos more each time I watch them. I appreciate that you take a holistic approach to style - visiting a museum, reading a book, and fashion combined to cultivate sophistication. Thank you!
My girl has reached over 300k. I followed you since 1k subscribers years ago. I love all that you share and teach us here, love this video as always and totally agree. Edited, she has now reached 50 10 months later on October 2020, congratulations
Thank you so much Evelyn! I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you’ve followed along this whole time! I always look forward to your comments because I know they’ll brighten my day ❤️ thank you so much 🤗🤗
I’ve seen so many videos that feel judgemental and tacky, but you’re so different. You’re super kind and motivating and even though not everything you show on your channel is my style (I’m more of a rock and roll, band shirts kind of gal 😅 I’m a concert photographer), I have learned so much and there’s so many tips I can add to build my style, I’ve been binge watching and I’m feeling great about this style journey I’m starting. Thank you!!
Aww i would love to hear you sing a little something for us. Maybe one day. i give my kids commandments singing opera; note that i do NOT have the talent neither the training so they think i am crazy. 😭😂
Hi Audrey, your tip about a dark turtleneck and dark wash jeans is magic! I never wear turtlenecks because I don’t like the feel against my neck but I found a black mock neck and black jeans today and they look fantastic together. And so slimming! I have a couple blazers I can wear with them to complete the look. Thanks so much.
I've gone from a size 18 to 8!! I'm searching for my style. Your style of presenting has been a huge help during my transition in sizes. I've purchased a majority of my clothing from thrift until I reach my healthy weight goal. I feel more confident and look more confident. I'm enjoying my search for my style and I absolutely love how I feel in my clothing now. I love looking sophisticated but I love the trending fashions as well. How do I blend them?
Thanks to you channel I am able to find good quality clothes and I am slowly finding my own style. Audrey, have been a wonderful influence in helping me dress classy as I age and for that I thank you !
Audrey, would love it if you could teach us how to speak the way you do, such sophistication in your voice. Your voice is soft, gentle, manages to capture attention and leave us feeling calm.
Love your tailored, classic style of clothing that never goes out of style. You pair items together beautifully. One look I do not care for, however, is short straight-legged pants over boots. The gap catches the eye immediately and is unattractive.
We are the same height, and I’ve always wondered how you look so tall. I’m glad you mentioned posture! I think that’s so important. I have a desk job and I’m sure it affects that, so I’m going to try your stretch :)
IDark blue jeans are my staple too. But it is so hard to find dark washed jeans, with dark stitching, no wash-outs, not destroyed. Where do you find yours? xx
Ooh the silk scarf on a bag is a lovely tip. I've seen it a lot on designer bags on poshmark but have never tried this myself, not yet but I'm going to find a beautiful silk scarf at the thirty store for this! I'm also going to find a beautiful blazer because my favorite one was too large for me so I sold it online but miss having it! I should have just had it tailored
Classically trained opera singer ... the ultimate sophisticated career ... Congratulations on the 300,000+ subscribers. When you are on your-time/at home time how do you chose to dress? Would love to see a video on that as well. Love your channel and the elegant presentation of each video !!! Many Blessings and Peace to you and yours ... Have a lovely day, Audrey.
This is why your vlog is my favorite by far. You truly understand that enriching the mind with art is just as important as what is on the outside. Thank you for furthering that notion. Your fashion is also sublime. You make Sunday mornings a joy.
You are a beautiful woman. Your happiness and kindness really shows, i love it. We need more you's ;) Thank you for the video. It sure helps me since i am absolutely clueless on clothing.
Hi Audrey...I have two styles I always go to...one is the linen cotton white and tan khaki look..be it pants or maxi skirt😊. .Second is the boho look with long flowing tops, wide leg pants and long scarves😀. ..love it. A drama in Australia was called Offspring, and the star wore the boho look to absolute perfection. I guess it could be called the modern 70s look maybe. Do you like this look? .Or could you do a segment on it sometime? ,thank you so much.😊 your videos are just so much fun!
Great advice, as always - except for the turtlenecks. Turtlebecks look horrible on any figure with a C cup or above, so I would exchange those for a more tailored T-shirt with a deeper neckline. It is much more flattering to break the expanse between the neck and the bust if you have a larger bust. The blazer will prevent this from looking too provocative, which is the opposite of sophisticated.
Leonie I’m over a C-cup and I successfully wear turtlenecks. I’m very particular about the type of turtleneck. I avoid bulky knits and large cable knits. I gravitate towards fine gauge knits in fabrics such as merino wool. Ive found that if the turtleneck isn’t too bulky, has a great fit with a length that is flattering to your size and height, they work great.
@@wannabe41, that is interesting to me. How do you avoid the dreaded look of having a bulging backpack hanging from your neck down your front? That is what it looks like when I wear a turtleneck, and I am a mere D cup.
Leonie I get it. There are some turtleneck styles that I’ve had to stop wearing. I avoid styles with chunky ribbing or cables and I make sure to have an appropriate bra under my sweaters.
Mixed feelings about turtlenecks, cup H here and yes they make my boobs look like monstrously swollen tonsils. However I feel nothing beats them in classiness so I occasionally wear very thin ones, either with a blazer and layered jewellery on top that creates a V shape or under a contrasting very deep V neck pullover. Last time I wore a turtleneck on its very own I think I was 12 :D
I just found you recently in my search for defining my style going forward into my 70s and I am so grateful. Your timeless style, calming presentation and detailed information is just what I was looking for! Thank you - keep up the great work!!
I am absolutely in love with your porcelain patterned blouse, it looks so great on you! It also suits my personal style so well, I'm gonna have to find one of my own! ♥
Adorable as all of your videos. Your sweet approach and your chic je ne sais quoi makes it beautiful looking at your suggestions and implementing them regardless of anyone’s gender.
You’re such a big style inspiration, whenever I feel bored with my personal style I know I can go back to your videos and blog and feel inspired again!
Hi Audrey. I'm watching your newest video, and you linked a scarf. But it's not the scarf you are wearing here at 6:34. I would Love to know what brand and name of the print, here. It is so stunning and classy. Thank you so much, in advance, for your reply.
I agree so much on adding even just one structured piece- even if you are doing Boho chic, if you add a structured piece it absolutely elevates it! And yes, knowledge gives confidence- when you know you can fit into and converse in any social situation you never look unsure or 'lost'. It's great how you can single out these things and clarify for us!
Audrey has recommended Uniqlo U crew neck T-shirts in previous videos before. I'm looking to get them too and they are on sale right now! Hope this helps!
Pleeeeeease do a video on how to look put together in snow and ice! I just moved to a wintery city and have to walk at least a few blocks to work and I cannot find any helpful inspiration on how to avoid looking like a hot mess marshmallow. A heavy weatherproof coat and sturdy flat shoes (i only have chunky construction boots atm) are necessities and are also...challenging to style. (Edit: I absolutely love your videos! So helpful and you always look cute af. I don't know what inspired the transition to the meditative voice but I'm here for it. You should record personal style mantras and put them on spotify lol)
Another great video as always! This video really opened my eyes to turtlenecks, and I didn't realize how great they look under blazers. Completely off topic but you may want to consider removing the word "personally" from your speech when you've already indicated this is your choice or preference (e.g. "I prefer to wear..." instead of "I personally prefer to wear...").
I had no idea you are a singer!! Me too! Although at this point in my life only in the car, shower or while doing yardwork. Nothing like tearing around the yard on the lawnmower singing Bach-Gounod Ave Maria 🤣
Hi Audrey, long time fan! I have been hunting around your channel and what feels like the entire internet to try and find something like your dress in this video? I’ve seen it in other videos and I’m sure you’ve mentioned it somewhere but I can’t find it! It’s the tea length, white base with small blue flowers dress. You picture it in the video artwork as well at 3:21 with your blue linen blazer in this video. Where did you find it? It’s so gorgeous
I already liked you, but even more now knowing you're a fellow singer. I was a vocal performance major in college, specializing in vocal music of the 13th & 14th centuries. Great video, BTW!
