Tip No. 1 is Balanced diet.
Confidence is linked with your feelings. Your feelings are linked with your mind and your mind is linked with your body.
If you starve yourself or over feed yourself you will not feel well and it will indirectly affect your feeling of confidence.
In India we follow a lot of rituals. And one of them is that when a child goes for an interview or for an exam the mother will feed curd mixed with sugar. If you are an indian you can relate that. Let me tell you it is now scientifically proven that it reduces anxiety and calms you down. So the next time your mother feeds you with curd don’t just eat a teaspoon and rush away like I used to do but eat a complete bowl, it will really help.
And please don’t make it a ritual, the idea is to eat something light and in balance.
Tip 2: Prepare and Practice
There is no substitute to preparation and practice. It is very important to know about the company that you are going for. When was the company established, Where is it based in the world, if it has a short name what’s the full name. News about the company. Its history etc. When you know these things you will automatically feel confident. Apart from that 90% of the questions asked in the interviews can be prepared and practiced if you are willing to spend time and efforts. So make sure you watch all my videos in the interview preparation series. I promise it will boost your confidence.
Tip 3: Dress Well
Do I need to explain this. First impression is not the last impression in an interview. It is actually the only impression for you. So please please please look good,. Dress well, polish your shoes. If you look good you will feel good and you know feelings
Tip 4: Speak only what you know about
Do not try to answer every question. If you do not know the answer to any question it’s fine. Completely find. No one expects you to know everything. Accepting that you do not know something and are willing to learn shows that you are confident. And giving wrong answer or just speaking for the sake of it will only damage your impression.
Tip No. 5: Be Honest
BE honest about What you write on your CV & what you say about yourself. If you write something incorrect and the interviewer asks you something about it you will automatically lose confidence. Honest people are always confident and people who lie - need to practice.
Tip No. 6: Body language
Very important point - Stay tuned for a very informative video I am going to upload on body language. But for now I will give you few tips.
Please understand that your Body Language Shapes Who You Are - it means your body language not only affects how others see you but also how you you see your own self. So it plays a very important part in feeling confident from within and looking confident outside.
A positive body language means you make an eye contact when you speak. So when you talk do not look here and there or keep your head down or watch at the walls etc. Make an eye contact. Look directly in the eyes of the interviewer. With a smile on your face. A smile when you enter the room and when you exit and in between tells you are confident. Plus a firm handshake is also a sign of confidence.
Final tip No. 7: Positive affirmations.
You see mind is like a child. It will believe whatever you say. Smart Parents often use this technique. Like if they want a child to clean his or her room they will not criticize the child but praise him or her.
What you need to do is give yourself positive affirmations like “I am feeling so good today, today is a beautiful day, I am feeling so confident, I am sure I will give a great interview, I will impress the interviewer and so on” say as many positive affirmations to yourself. Instead of giving negative affirmations like of its such a bad day, I am not feeling good, the interviewer looks so strict, I know I will fail, oh there are so many people for this job etc.
