HI Kay - so excited about your grandbaby. Yes take time to spend this precious time with that little one. I Wear cardigans a lot here and south Texas. Very seldom have use of a coat so cardigans are the way to go most the time. I wear mostly the grandpa style. I am 75 and that may be why I do not feel frumpy in them. I hated to hear about those curved ones being out of style because I have two or three that I really love. They have kind of a ruffle around the bottom in the back.I usually don’t wear them this time of year but maybe in the beginning of spring. Thanks as always for your wonderful videos I just look forward to them so much. Love in Christ
Hello Kay, congratulations on getting a grand baby! 🎉 I love cardigans, even more than blazers. Find that they are warm and comfortable. I was just wearing my favourite one today- it's burgundy colour, perfect with my shirts! My black one with gold buttons is more dressy and I love to match it with a skirt, fell ready for a Christmas party 🥳
I have a few waterfall cardigans that I wear with my pjs. They are nice things to wrap up in when I’m reading at night. They look pretty nice with pjs that coordinate and I feel more dressed than in a robe. Congratulations on the arrival of your granddaughter! Nothing is sweeter than a grand baby giggle!
Thanks for the ideas! Here’s one back…I purchased a really nice, soft cocoon cardigan, but within a year it was out of style. At the same time I needed an updated “housecoat” and realized this cardigan would function beautifully in the cool mornings and cozy evenings! And it HAS!
Ohhh a grandchild is such an incredible blessing. Mine has my heart. Prayers for your daughter and baby through the birth. Thanks for your style videos
It is so helpful when you show what doesn’t look good. Then you demonstrate how you would fix that problem as you did with the short coat and the longer cardigan. Thanks
Enjoy your break and hoping that it will be a very restorative time with your grandbaby. And, though I do not personally care for cardigans, I still had to watch your video because they give me a restorative time watching them. God bless on your time off.
Kay, my first grandbaby (also a girl!) came last year on 12/12! I am so excited for you because the love you’re going to feel for your granddaughter is going to be wonderful! I can’t wait to hear all about her! Merry Christmas to you and all your family! God bless you!
Love cardigans. I would so wear the cardinal one even though my daughters would tease me. I hadn't thought to wear my traditional cardigans buttoned up. What a great idea to get more use out of them.
Nice job, Kay! Cardigans can be tough to wear well. I sometimes just throw one on as comfy outerwear, but you've inspired me to plan better and incorporate them into an outfit with more thought. Who knew there are SO many types of cardigans! Thank you for all the research and thought you put into this post, and all your videos. I'm sure it's a lot, but the effort sure shows! Congrats on your grandbaby, and enjoy your upcoming break. We all need that from time to time. ❤
My favorite look was the burgundy cardigan over the lighter shade burgundy silk blouse with the dark jeans. Low contrast, right? Congratulations on the coming new grandbaby! Get ready for a lot more love and joy in your life!
My favourite outfit is the one with the Cardinal cardi and the plaid shirt. It really suits your personality. Merry Christmass to you and enjoy your grandbaby.
Thanks for this video Kay. I wasn’t sure to button or wear my cardigans unbuttoned. This was helpful ! Your videos are always helpful. I love the cardinal sweater and plaid shirt. Enjoy this special time with your family when your new grandbaby arrives. ❤
Thank you for all the great cardigan ideas. My personal style includes cardigans and scarves, but scarves seem like they're out of style right now. I find that they're often that touch of pattern or color that my outfit needs, though. Thank you also for the game recommendation, I just downloaded it!
Scarves are classic - think of a silk Hermes , whether a vintage or new for year 'round wear to add color & interest , or a cozy cashmere scarf w/ a winter coat . ( Maybe not seeing infinity scarves as often , but still practical in winter . ) I have a silk " faux " Hermes that is decades old in muted shades that coordinate w/ most of my outfits , from jeans'n blazer or sweater to go-to- church outfits . Now that's a classic !! 🥰
I've just started wearing silk scarves in the past couple years. I'm 68 and always associated them with my grandmothers and great aunts. But in looking at photos of my mom from the 1960s and '70s, I'm reminded that she looked very dashing the way she wore them as a New York stylish schoolteacher. Also, silk scarves are worn by women of all ages in Paris and Milan, and add so much interest to their fashionable outfits! I'm loving experimenting with my silk scarves! I've got 4.
Very nice video. Especially like the burgundy sweater with the silk blouse, and the cardinals in the snow cardigan with the plaid shirt. The plaid shirt really gave it a great look. Thank you for your helpful suggestions.
Wow, to this beautiful video. Thank you Kay. Also, today is St. Nicholas’s feast day. Happy St. Nicholas’s day, to you, sweetheart Kay and all your viewers. God bless you, for all you doing, and best wishes for the precious grand baby’s coming. Enjoy 🥰🙏👍❤️☀️✝️🌟💫🕊️⭐️🎄🎁
Congratulations on the new baby coming. You will love being a grandmother. I’m a new great grandmother and I want to see that baby all the time. He’s in another state. But I’m hoping they bring him back for Christmas. I don’t have many cardigans. I did buy a cropped v neck cardigan. And I have a longer one in my cedar chest. I’m not sure if it even has buttons. But after seeing this video I’m probably going to get some. I’m thinking about buying a coatigan. But I’m not sure if I will wear it enough. I used to wear cardigans buttoned up as shirts. Now I wish I had some of those. I’m going to check my cedar chest for one. But I don’t think there’s one in there. I hope you enjoy your time off. I know you’ll be spending some of it here in Georgia. And I hope it warms up for you.
I’ve been anticipating this video since you mentioned it! Loved it. Good tip for those of us with broad shoulders. I ordered the Quince 100% cotton cropped cardigan (I’m also long waisted) and it works perfectly. The baby alpaca cropped cardigan did exactly what you said it would….i looked like a football player. lol. Enjoy that grandbaby! A love like no other!!❤
Thanks for this video! I'm working to wear all of my clothes more, and my cardigans don't get worn as often as other things. Also, thanks for the advice for those of us who aren't particularly feminine or elegant but still want to look snazzy 😅
I loved the cardinal sweater as soon as I saw it in the store and knew it would be versatile. I've already worn it to a number of Christmassy events from casual to somewhat dressier. Fun!
Congratulations on your coming grand baby! I love the wide leg pants. I think they are so flattering especially on us plus sized ladies, but they look great on you also. I love cardigans! Sometimes even in the winter here in Virginia you can get away without wearing a coat if you have a nice warm cardigan.
I love cardigans. That's one thing I've always incorporated as they're so versatile. Plus, my Mom had given ne some incredible vintage Pendleton pieces ( not cardigan. They are 100 % wool & from the late 50's) There have been several times (while wearing them) I'd been asked if I'd be willing to sell them. Now on some other pieces ( like coats) I still have not found what I'm looking for. I also want to thank so many of the ladies here that also offer some great tips. Kay, I've learned much from you. 🎉❤
Hi there Kay Thank you for All the ‘How to wear Cardigans’ . I never thought I would like those Boyfriend/Grandpa Cardigans , but I love them now ❤️❤Your Tips were Spot On as usual . I also liked those 2 tips from 2 ladies who follow you also , I too have a cocoon cardigan and 2 waterfall cardigans I’m gutted they are Out! but I will follow what those 2 ladies do too as I can’t be bothered with dressing gowns . So excited for you and your family getting ready to Welcome your little grandbaby into your lives 🤱And yes you deserve a break ❤Xx
All of these are so lovely on you! I do have a black "lady cardigan" I purchased last year at the end of the season. That cardinal cardi is so sweet!!! I've been on the hunt for a burgundy cardigan - thank you for the options. God Bless!!!
I’m so sorry you get negative comments. I appreciate the effort you put into these videos, and the kindness you keep behind everything you share. I’m glad to hear it’s a thing to let your fun socks show! I love patterned wool socks! ❤ from Iowa
I'm really happy to know that my cardigans are still fashionable. I actually have some "twin sets" from Talbots, all still in new condition. The shells I'll wear with a different cardigan, an over blouse or a fun jacket, rather than as a matchy-matchy set. I've recently gotten a lot of pretty plaid flannels, in feminine colors, because it's well below freezing a lot of the winter where I live, so I LOVED seeing you wear a plaid flannel under that adorable patterned crewneck cardigan! I have some great woven button down shirts too that I'm hoping will work (color-wise) with my V-neck cardigans. Looks Like I'm going to be trying on my whole wardrobe tomorrow to see what I can still wear. Between Covid and other family issues, I've lost enough weight to go down at least 1 size. I sure hope my better jeans still fit. I know my slacks will be huge, but they don't fit my lifestyle anymore, so no big deal there. I'm going back to church now that my time is mine again (spent 1 1/2 years, until late September 2023, as fulltime caregiver to my now late husband) and though my style is casual, I want to present myself better than in my grubby hanging-out-at-home uniform. I'm really glad I watched this video before selecting my outfit for church this Sunday, my first time to church in a very long time. You were a huge help to me regarding how to put together outfits simply by shopping from my own closet. As it turns out, I have a lot of the type of items you showed, in my colors of course, between the button down shirts, plaid flannels, V-neck cardigans, crewneck cardigans, shells, cami's, etc. that will be great for 2024 AND my casual lifestyle as a retired widowed senior living in a very small town in SE Idaho. Yay!!! No store shopping needed. Thank you, Kay, so much for what you do!!!
When you say grandpa cardigan, I think of Tom Selleck on Blue Bloods. Lol. The anticipation of a baby at Christmas is the best! That’s what Christmas is all about!,,, I like how you made the lady cardigan less prissy; love the black/brown especially. Agree with regrouping and taking a break to recharge. You give so much all year. 🌲
Thanks Kay! I really enjoyed the cardigan advice. I think the red cardinal sweater is really festive and like the way you styled it. Have a great Holiday and enjoy your new grand baby.
Thank you once again for a great video. I recently bought the Cardinals in the snow cardigan and wear it with a red and black plaid shirt. I love cardigans. I already got rid of my waterfall cardigans and only have one cocoon cardigan that I need to get rid of. I wear my cardigan all the ways you showed. Thank you! Enjoy that grand baby!❤️
I love cardigans! Thanks for the tips! I wear them when it is cold. I hope you have a nice vacation with your grandbaby! Relax and rest-we will be here when you are refreshed and ready to come back:)
Thank you for the great tips. I've never had good luck with cardigans. I think it's because I'm large busted and they don't hang nicely. I like the idea and look of wearing one buttoned up, going to give that a try!
I’ve been wearing wool plaid shirts (like Pendleton) instead of sweaters. I’ve also been wearing plaid flannel shirts. I usually wear a long sleeve tee or mock turtleneck in a coordinating color with the wool and cotton flannel shirts. I usual pair them with black, gray or blue jeans that match or coordinate with the shirts. I know this is not a dressy look but works for everyday, shopping or a casual lunch with friends.
Congrats on your Grandbaby, nothing better than a new baby! Enjoy your time off! Thanks for the content, I have recently purchased a couple of grandfather cardigans and love them! I've been trying to find different tops to wear underneath. Short sleeve silky tees are my go tos until it's colder.
Thank you so much for your hard work in researching and presenting this topic. I'm very grateful for it. I live in Auckland in New Zealand which never gets cold enough for more than a trench coat. Even though a lot of the US brands are not accessible or affordable here, I still appreciate your efforts and I do adapt your advice to Australasia. Our brands are much more subtropical, Southern hemisphere and probably relaxed than yours in the US. Happy New Year, Kay and blessings for 2024 from NZ.
Enjoy your time with your grandbaby! I enjoy merino wool button ups with a long sleeved tee hidden underneath for extra warmth because I’m always chilled. I have an older print one from Talbots that I love. I lost weight and was able to find it in a smaller size at Poshmark so double win.
This was a fun video! My favorite was the cardinal sweater with the red & white plaid blouse. Lovely! This video was very well done and put together. I like the open front cardigan and the boyfriend cardigan. You look very pulled togethers.
Hi Kay, I will wear a long skirt with a short cardigan for Christmas. I wish you the best for your grand baby and your daughter. Of course have a good time for your family specially during Christmas. Take care.❤
love cardigans and wear them all winter long. I love the coziness of a sweater but want to easily remove it- so cardigans are always perfect- thick, thin, long and short, dressier and frumpy - have them all.
I loved this video. I own a lot of Charming cardigans and now know a more modern way to wear them. I also liked the black tights with booties and black skirt. What a great way to get extra wear out of booties, and a skirt. Loved this video, I think I will knit a gray grandpa cardigan. I have yarn in my stash.
Hi Kay! First things first, congratulations on your new grandbaby!💖 It really is just the best, and a whole new kind of love! And thank you so much for this video and the great tips about wearing cardigans. I have a few and actually haven't worn them in a while. I'm going to try your tips! And PS...The burgundy color looks beautiful on you! Merry Christmas to you and all of your family! 🎄
Hi Kay! "Grandchildren are the crown of the aged," ~ Proverbs 17:6. I am happy for your family! I love cardigans as my upper arms are large and I struggle with blazers. As various styles come and go, I cycle them in my wardrobe. Thanks for the update on what's trending! Merry Christmas!
Congratulations on becoming a grandma!! So exciting! I would love to get a ladies jacket. I have been looking for several months now but haven’t found the one yet! Thanks so much
Love your channel Kay. I just wait to have my Wed morning tea, and get caught up😀. I cannot seem to find a link for the black puffer jacket you wore in outfit 3 or 4 (sorry I lost count). It is the jeans with the oatmeal turtle neck and cardigan. Is this your first grandbaby 🎉🎉🎉. I have been blessed with 4 grandchildren, ages 24 down to 8. They are sooooo much fun. Enjoy. ❤❤❤
There are many sources for quality look-alikes ! High prices do not insure quality !! I've found that shopping sales ( card member , coupons , in-store clearance sales etc. ) at places like Talbotts gives me nice outfits , often coordinated season to season & year to year , at affordable prices . 🥰
@@patriciahennard That's crazy !! Who can afford that ? ! A few of my friends who can easily pay that wouldn't , simply on principle & just plain common sense - and that's why they are financially " comfortable " . 💙
If you had $525 right now, would you really spend it on a single cardigan? 🤔 Especially when you could go to Ross or Kohl's and get something that looks very similar for 1/10 the price?
@@kumada84 Exactly ! I envision designers , clothing manufacturers , & retailers laughing at how high a price they can put on their item & laughing even more at the public for being so gullible to buy it ! 🤪 Come on , consumers - where is our common sense ? ! 🥰
Congratulations ! A new baby is so wonderful. Kay, I’m not a big cardigan wearer as I feel more short and stocky on my upper body. However, they look beautiful on you. I love the burgundy and cardinal cardigans specially how you matched your other blouses/shirt underneath. . The longer black one would be more like I would wear and also the red buttons down give a slender appearance. Your video videos are so helpful In managing my closet and also being aware of what I buy Thank you and have a Merry Christmas with your loved ones 🎄
Cardigans are hard to wear - they can look so frumpy. The longer ones from a couple of years ago were more flattering, so hopefully they'll comeback. If I do wear a cardigan, I always add shoulder pads to give them just a little more shape. I do like the faux Chanel lady jackets - especially with jeans (which makes them more modern).
I never stop wearing cardigans. I mostly try to get either the V-neck or open front cardigans because they work with all of the different necklines of my tops. Round neck cardigans do not work well at all over V-neck tops. The cocoon and waterfall cardigans only worked well proportion-wise with very slim bottoms, such as skinny jeans, so they are not compatible with the current pant styles. And thanks for bringing in the selections of outerwear. That is my biggest problem with cardigans, finding which of my jackets or coats can be worn over each cardigan. I only have one duster-length cardigan and I feel very limited in when I can wear it because it only works under my trench-style raincoat.
As always, great tips Kay! It was nice to see you style the red skirt in your selections. I am tempted to try that style myself so it was helpful to see your very cool ensemble! I'm wondering how that skirt would look with the cardinal cardi? It looks like it's cardinal red.
This is a great video Kay! I have a closet full of cardigans, but I haven't been wearing them because I've been feeling a little frumpy in them. I think maybe I've bought mine too big, especially for a 5 ft-1in woman. Maybe I keep a few, use your styling tips, and then get rid of a few as well. Thanks for all you do!! 😊
I love cardigans. I have the lady jacket that you are modeling. I wear it buttoned up as a sweater and styled it with navy wool trousers and loafers. What do you think about putting a belt around the open cardigan? I purchased one from J.Crew (I think they call it a sweater blazer) last year and I am struggling with how to style it. Great news about your grandbaby. I have four grandkids and I absolutely love being a grandma. I do have a separate wardrobe that I call my "grandma clothes." They are clothes that I don't mind getting on the floor with and soiled when they come up to you and wipe their dirty hands on your shirt. They are still stylish, though. You deserve to take some time off. Happy Holidays, Kay.
Love the versatility of sweater blazers - I wear mine w/ jeans & a tee for an " upgraded " casual look & also change out the blouse or top underneath to take it up a notch w/ dress pants.
I kept my Barefoot Dreams casacade front cardigans, which I only wear at home. I like the way I can wrap myself up in them. I have a few boyfriend cardigans. I'm getting the cardinal cardigan, so cute! It's sold out 😞 Congratulations on the grand baby! Thank you! Merry Christmas 🎄
I definitely will be wearing cardigans. I have a very beautiful medium blue cashmere and cotton blend crewneck button-down cardigan from L.L. Bean that I love. I also have several others I will be wearing even a few lady cardigans. I have some other lady jackets I’d like to wear also but wonder if they can be worn over long sleeved blouses and shirts? I liked the look in Madam Secretary.
Kay , I live in Upstate New York. A warm winter day is 30. What about long johns , polar fleece , and puffer jackets I live in for the winter.? How do you look stylish when you wear long when you live in polar fleece all winter? LL Bean and Lands End are my standard winter brands. I love Talbot's too. However what Talbot consider winter I use for fall. Please remember all of us who live up north, Thanks. LOL my first grand daughter is 27 !
I think I really need an entire closet overhaul. I’m in Canada and our winters can last 6-7 mo. I have too many one-off pieces and really need a capsule wardrobe. Do you have a video on this you can direct me to? Or something on how to build a Winter wardrobe? Thanks!
Kay, great update, thanks! I’m quite interested in the cardigan in your outfit #3. I don’t see any information about this. Can you offer purchasing information? Thank you!
Kay, the picture of you modeling outfit #7, the cardinal sweater, is so lovely. You styled that sweater perfectly and you just look great. I love all of the cardigans you styled but the burgundy Vince is my favorite. BTW, could you tell me the eye shadows and lipstick you're wearing in this video? Thank you.
Another good video Kay, you look like you control you weight very well. Could you do a what eat in a day. I know you do intermittent fasting, I would be very interested in what you eat.
Thanks for your videos. I'm assuming the open front that hang right above your knee aren't in anymore since they weren't in your video. Should I keep them or get rid of them? Cardinals are great for hot flashes!😂
I’d keep it. I have one in grey, a bit longer than the black one Kay is showing, and worn over black jeans and a black turtleneck it emphasizes the “column of colour.” Of course, it could be any colour; as long as the top and bottom are the same colour/shade, or it’s a dress of a single colour, this elongated look can work for most of us.
I forgot to ask, I can wear cashmere but not wool. I see the sweater you have on in red Tibetan is 25% wool. Is it itchy? Was wondering if I would be able to wear it? Thanks
