holy crap, I've been trying to find a normal scarf tutorial on a knitting loom for a month, the booklet that came with the looms was very confusing and everyone else wants to make infinity scarfs, this is a wonderful tutorial.
Your videos are great! I have learned so much! I have made 5 hats, 7 scarves and 2 pair of fingerless mittens using your tutorials! Thanks for the help! I would never have been able to learn to loom knit with out these awesome videos! THANKS!!!
powersxx4 thank you so much for your feedback! So glad to know you made all those projects" Feel free to send us pictures of your results to info@tuteate.com if you want :) We'd love to see them!
Hi, I have never knit before and found the video so helpful. I finished my first scarf in four days with very little problems. Thank you so much for making this video. Thanks to you I can finally knit!
I have seen people take an ink pen, remove the ink stem and then use the barrel/tube as a stylus. You thread the yarn through the empty ink pen tube and then use this to wrap your yarn around the pegs of the loom. It makes looser tension but it also make wrapping the yarn around the pegs go a lot faster since the tube is narrow and can easily fit in between the pegs.
Connie Yurkus, unless the straw is made of thick plastic, it will bend too easily and slow you down. I tried straws (the regular thin plastic ones) and had better success with the pen tube.
Hi Nathan! :) We knitted a very long scarf here (it lengths 210 cm) so we used 360m of yarn (393 yards). The original idea was to fold each end to create a scarf with pockets at the ends... Maybe for a common scarf you could use a bit less
So I decided to try a loom for the first time but the instructions were vague so I then went to RU-vid but everyone's videos were already started more talking than action, but this video was so simple and easy for me to understand how to do it, I thank you and appreciate the time you took to make this video
I cannot thank you enough! I have wasted at least 4 skeins of yarn trying to loom knit following other videos. You have made the details ans stitches so easy to follow, I am having so much fun now!
I have created a scarf as a gift for a family member using your tutorial and it turned out gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy your style of teaching there wanted to request you if you could show how to create an adult sweater for a man using the rectangular looms. Thanks
Wow, I made a scarf on the loom before but I only used both sides to make a wide scarf, so it was a thin, wide, long scarf. This one looks nice and warm :)
I just bought a loom , this video was a useful tutorial thankx ! I do know crotchet and embroidery but found kniting in the traditional way is difficult , but now i can start my first scarf using this way ! :)
Hi, this video tutorial is so easy to follow, I just did what you show us here and already I see after a few rows how is going to look, very pretty if I may, not bad for a novice. Thank you so much!!!!!!! :-) I am using Alpaca chunky yarn and it looks really nice...
Thankyou so much for the tutorial! I just finished a black and red striped scarf for my boyfriend's birthday present.^^ the stitches are a bit big where i started off but they tightened up as i went along.
Thanks! I just made this scarf :) I attached the ends to make an infinity scarf by attaching the ends on the scarf on one side of the loom before binding off.
Crystal Marcelle great! Thanks for your feedback :) We'd love to see your infinity scarf! (feel free to send us a picture to info@tuteate.com if you want).
Before starting to wind the yarn around the pegs, I get a Bic style pen that I have taken apart with only the barrel left to work with and thread the yarn into the middle of the barrel using a small size crochet hook to pull the yarn through. It makes winding the yarn around the pegs (for me) easier than doing it with your fingers. I also use a salad fork to press the yarn from the top of the pegs to the bottom of the pegs, down the center of knitter, instead of pressing down on the yarn with my fingers.
When first starting, you wrap all pegs and then do a second row. Why do you skip the first bottom peg? Would that cause an issue later on in later rows?
I'm pulling real tight when wrapping but as soon as I start pulling the bottom loops over there is sooo much looseness and I don't understand how it's happening or how to prevent it.
I have the kit that came with a small one medium one and a big one got it at Walmart love it just have had a hard time with trying to make a baby blanket the loom gets too tight .
7:03min. muito bem empregados em minha vida corrida. Explicação satisfatória, a melhor d todas q assisti. Agora, rever mais algumas vezes e praticar, e t falo.
If it is still relevant to you: you can close the loop just by casting on the very first row of stitches back on the loom and add one or two rows of stitches afterwards. Leaves a tiny seam but works
I really like this video. I just bought a board loom but mine is wood with nails and can adjust in width. I have watched the instruction video that came with the loom and i have watched this several times but my scarf isnt turning out like the one in this video, it is too loose. How did you get yours to be so tight and uniform? Do you know of any videos that can show me?
RandomAnime625 hi! If your work turns out looser, maybe your yarn strand is thinner than the one we are using. Here we used a yarn called Phildar Rapido, which is recommended for knitting needles of 6mm - 7mm. Thinner yarn leaves more space between pegs, so there is more space between stitches in the end...
Hi Tuteate ... I need your help... When I m making a scarf holes seem to forms and therefore my scarf doesn't look good... Can you help.... U r videos are really good.... Love them
Maybe it is a yarn weight matter.... If your yarn is too thin, the result comes out very loose ("holey"). If your yarn is too bulky, the result comes out very sturdy. I normally use size 5, or 2 strands of size 4...
Okay so I have a project that requires me to chain cast 60 out of a 62 peg rectangular loom. I haven't been able to find a video that shows how to chain cast from one side to the other. What would be your suggestion on how to do that?
what controls the size the of the stitches?? in knitting the gauge of the needles controls the size of the stitches, but that doesn't seem to be quite the case here. or at least not the single determining factor. is it how far the 2 rows of pegs are spaced apart between the top and bottom rows?? i.e. the distance between the top and bottom rows?? i wanna make me a wooden loom, but i need to know how the spacing is done, and how to adjust the size of the resultant stitches.
I have a question. I thought I did a row wrong and started trying to undo what I had done. Now I have lost my place. Should I take it all apart or can I fix this? I'm new at this, this is my first project.
DragonFighter1133 hi! :) The first song is called "Luna llena" (album "Despertar") and the second sog is called "Agua dulce" (album "Renacimiento") from the artist called Magluss
Denise Bennett here we used the first version of this type of loom: www.amazon.es/gp/product/B00CGKFKYI/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=3626&creative=24822&creativeASIN=B00CGKFKYI&linkCode=as2&tag=tuteate-21 which is 36cm long (sorry, don't know the brand)
f41sal2828 hi! You can leave them half way :) (you just need to always do it in the same way you decide, otherwise some stitches will be longer than others)
Im about to try this but i dont know what length of loom to get to make a round scarf the type to go over head. Also h ok w many balls of yarn?? Awrsome video
Belza Dentro Hair hi! We worked a very long scarf here (it was 210cm long) so we used 9 balls of this yarn: www.phildar.fr/fil-rapido.r.html . However, we made an infinity scarf for this other project: www.tuteate.com/2014/09/24/teje-una-bufanda-infinita-bicolor-en-telar-circular/ and we used like 3 balls of the same type of yarn... Hope this information helps you...
I want to change the yarn and add horizontal stripes to my scarf, how would I do that? If you have a video on how to change colours on this loom, or have any resources that show how that would be great :)
I want to try this for my first loom knit project. I have never knit the normal way either. What size/weight yarn was used? The website with the project info is not compatible with my phone so I couldn't find it.
I used a size 5 yarn called Phildar Rapido. If your yarn is too thin, the result comes out very loose ("holey"). If your yarn is too bulky, the result comes out very sturdy. I normally use size 5, or 2 strands of size 4...
