I found one of these on the road. It was opened but I couldn't use it around the shop because I didn't know the code to change the code. And this video worked like a charm. Thank you. Crazy how easy it was.

Thanks for showing the mechanism. I think this explains my problem with a similar lockbox. We managed to close the lid while in the B position (change mode) and now it won't open. Presumably the little flat discs are now "lose" with regards to the dials so whatever code we enter they are never rotating to the right alignment to open the door.

I am so happy to find this video and opened/reset my box key padlock. I have it for over 12 years and tried to combination 4 rounds(0000 to 9999) and it took me less than 5 minutes to crack the codes after watching the video. Thanks :)

Oh yea! Thank you! Saved me from mailing it back and waiting... I was told the combination was 1-1-2-1 and through your video and some patience, the combo was 0-0-0-0. I need to reset it to a different combination so I'll see if there is a video showing me how to do that. Thanks again!!

i feel zero movement in the shim when I do this. all the dials turned completely with the shim and nothing makes any difference. wth

Thanks!!! I struggled trying to find that drop but I tried another technique. I laid it down and ran the tin across each section from top to bottom. Since the black part is rounded and only flat on 1 side, I would rotate until I drag the tin across and out makes like a M feel. Then they would indicate it was the flat side. After 3 rotations it opened! Thanks for the tips

this works! I took a can, cut a piece of aluminum and bent it in half to make it more durable, took me about half an hour but I got it, was my first time so I figured it would take me a few tries. thanks for the video!

I can't believe how easy this was. I bought a house and there was an old lockbox around the spigot in the front of the house. I think it's been here since before the previous owner, but I got it off!

Spent 4 years with one of these boxes on our front door knob because property maintenance the bank hired forgot the code. Luckily the bank had an extra set of keys. Now I do not know which is scarier. This design defect, or how easy this technique worked. Gotta say, it is really nice to close the door without the accompanying clang and rattle of the lock box. lol Thank you for posting this!

These locks seize up constantly. Have had to go through 4 because they have a tendency to lock and not unlock unless you bot cutter them then beat them with hammers EVEN IF YOU KNOW AND ENTER THE CODE.

My soda can shims were too flexy for me to get a good feel so I pushed a wider one straight in on axis with the number wheels. When it went in just a tad lower I went around again to verify, then moved to the next wheel. That lined 'em up & I didn't need to rotate the whole set. Might have taken 10 min to get 'er open but it worked out great. Thanks! Now I just need to figure out what that 'wrong' 4-digit number goes to. 😆

this worked with the inside of a hair clip. After I found the flat parts I had to roll each number downwards 5 times to get mine to open.

i wont lie i got very frustrated for a while but thats because i need the right tool for the job LOL after that it was just a matter of 35min and relaxing so i could sense the movements lol thank you sensei! saved me a lot of headache 😍

Also can use a flash light and line up the flat spots and rotate them all downward together as shown till it opens. Thanks man

Tip: The shim moves down. Close your eyes and once you feel the shim move down you are in business I had to move each one 3 steps up and not 2 like on the video

need to try several turns down but it works save me buy a new box

I tried it on a vault locks 5000, but it didn't work. It looks like they added metal spacers or somthing, so I'm not able to feel any flat area as I rotate the dial... maybe they saw these methods and updated their locks

Unfortunately the one that have did not open with this trick. Trying to see in between the tiny gap with a light source, they seem to be no longer black but is silver in color and they do not seem to move when I spin the numbers. :(

Tried a lot and it didn't work for me. For the 1st number, the metal doesn't even move inside. For all other numbers, it moves down without even spinning the dials.
