Thank you the video does help alot! I've been trying to get myself to finally start doing hard content but there has been a mental block this video helps with that!
There are a couple points in the vid that I feel need some clarification: 1) You said that "guides are not required", but to be clear, that's only true for "blind" learning parties. Most groups will expect you to come in with at least a basic understanding of the mechanics, learned through a written or video guide. No one expects people new to the fight to be able to perform every mechanic right from the get-go, but they should be able to reference the guide and say something like "oh yeah, that part was supposed to be X mechanic, but I panicked and did Y." Don't be surprised when people get annoyed if you go blind into a non-blind prog party. 2)Anyone who cares enough about their performance to check out a guide like this is surely good enough for Extremes, or will catch on quickly. Extremes are also fairly lenient in their DPS checks, so a good party can carry one or two underperforming players. Savage, however, is a different matter. All 8 players need to understand their classes and play with a high degree of consistency. I would strongly encourage players to locate and test the "Sky, Sea, Stone" dummies for their particular duty before starting Savage content. If a DPS player cannot kill the dummy they aren't ready for savage yet. Tanks and healers should be able to output half of a DPS player's damage, so adjust accordingly. I see a lot of players in party finder who aren't mechanically ready for savage, but que up anyways. It makes for some very frustrating situations. I would recommend any new Savage raiders check out The Balance's Discord for rotation and gear tips, as well as Akh Morning's "Raiding Fundamentals" guide. 3) The absolute best way to get over PF anxiety is just to do it. Even after 4 savage tiers and multiple Extremes I still get a little nervous starting new fights, but after actually starting them the anxiety all melts away.
These are some great point! Super appreciate you adding them here. Some thoughts: 1) Yeah for sure. I actually have mixed feelings on this sometimes because while this is true, I think that there's sort of a middleground as the player that you can reach if you are willing to communicate. For example, I'll often see Fresh parties and just send the party leader a tell before joining to ask what the expectations are if they aren't clear. That can include if they expect me to watch a video. I had the awkward moment once where a party leader didn't care but someone else did XD 2) Yeah honestly the hope for the video is that people who want to help their friends can share this with them just to give them some encouragement. The training dummies were so helpful to me. Something that's worth considering with Savage is that it can be a lot more approachable if you're not in a rush to complete stuff too depending on the tier. Like if you waited until 6.1 to start augmenting tome gear for example, walking into P1S with everybody in 630 tome gear goes a long way to making it feel like a slightly harder EX trial IMO and less of a struggle for dps checks and whatnot. I do agree that people should be really learning how to play their job/role well especially if they're joining parties closet to Week 1 where the mistakes and dps matters way more. It's just def possible to get groups where people aren't as skilled but still able to clear because the better gear helps a ton + food of course 3) Yeah ultimately, the hardest part will be taking the leap even if someone watches the video and tries everything that I recommend. I'm just hoping that I can help people to get to that point where they are ready for sure! (side note - I'm probably going to make a video about guides because your comment inspired me haha and I do have a lot to say on the matter since I find the culture around it fascinating)
