@@gerardolopez5875 that’s bad ass man! I love those trucks! Check out Richard holdner on RU-vid. He builds ls engines for a living, and he has recipes with dynos to back up his claims. He had a sick 4.8 turbo build that would put most people to shame. Good luck man!

Great video man. I think "It's so easy to LS swap" is thrown around too much. A few years ago I bought a salvaged LS3 to swap but man there was so many things I didn't know. It's true they are easy once you learn but the variables between motors and the things you need are info that's often left out. Now i'm looking to do a 6.0 cast iron for a turbo build which is beyond my knowledge but hey I learned to drive stick from RU-vid so there's nothing you can't learn if you're determined enough. Love seeing your projects man, keep it up!

@@GreaserthoughtsGarage I live in Dallas/Fort Worth Texas so even though LS are easy to come by the days of cheap ones are gone but i'm so commited to have LS specific back ups of things. I will say LS swaps become a bitch when you mess with Corvettes because the Y body is a diva with being super specific on things. It's much better to sticking with swapping on older vehicles for sure and on another note you're right about the Holley stuff its super simple to learn and use. I missed out on the Lonestar Throwdown this year so i'm about to check out your coverage next haha.

I wish things would have ended up different and KC wouldn't have pulled the plug on his channel but i'm making the rounds working with various people these days. I ran things for Flying Sparks Garage in 2019 and did Power Tour with them and then did a ton of work with Hammerfab in 2020 now i'm bouncing around with an Off Road shop that's doing safari builds on Animal Planet and looking to do some work with Munssey Speed Carbon so maybe you'll see some cool C10/F100 stuff on my channel soon. I really have been wanting to kick up my own content but paying the bills comes with filming content for others first. It's a grind but I learn so much every where I go. I got an 04 Dakota with a 3.7 and it ran and drove fine until I started doing maintenance on it and kept finding one thing after another to get done. I already have an 06 Chevy I have sitting where I want so now I’m thinking of a hemi or an LS swap for the Dakota. I’m tired of dealing with the 3.7 that’s in it and I want a badass single cab street truck. This was the best explanation for a swap in general. No matter what you’re thinking of doing, the tips you gave are top tier. Glad I came across your video. You gave me more to think about money wise.

Ive done a ton of LS Swaps and there are 3 rules that you need to treat as Gospel. 1.) If you get a junkyard dropout, get the Engine, Trans, and Computer together. 2.) DO NOT JUST START BUYING PARTS. You really need to have a plan on what you want the perameters of the motor to do. ITS NOT A SMALL BLOCK CHEVY. 3.) DO NOT use aftermarket heads unless you intend to use aftermarket heads with all clearancing and blueprinting with portmatching. After that its all butter. AMEN. Decide how much HP you want. Take your budget and 3x it. Find a competent machine shop in what you want. You're going to make sacrifices. Get your pistons, rods and weight them. Make them the same weight. Have the whole rotating assembly balanced also with clutch if applicable. There is no cheap Swaps unless you just sloppy mechanics it. I highly recommend them.

I’m working on my swap now putting parts together just picked up the motor ls6 built supposed to be making between 550/600hp fresh rebuild got it from a buddy of mine going with a t56 trans twin plate spec clutch etc the car is a 92 mustang notch back very clean car red can’t wait should be lots of fun

I used Doug's headers ....I ordered the Doug's LS swap headers for Chevelle....they cost me 600$ but they fit great...everything cleared...didn't have to dent them anywhere to clear anything.....the o2 sensor bungs are in the sides of the headers not on top of the collector like on cheap LS swap headers.....the flange that bolts to the side of the head is nice and thick....and the collectors are a v-band design that requires no gaskets like the crappy old three bolt collector design of other headers.....and the headers came with o2 extension harness and all the hardware needed to install and bolt them on. The bolts and hardware are of nice quality .....the first nly thing I would recommend would be to go ahead and pay the extra cost for ceramic coated. I bought the raw steel and I wish would have got the coated pair because I don't like the way they look in my engine bay only painted black. I should have painted mine white or wrapped them in header wrap.

Ls is nice but im still cranking 650hp from my 1976 bonanza c10 pick up and 800hp and going with my 350 in my 88 caprice ....get a good mechanic to point you to a great mechanic he will show you they way ......money is essential .....i drive my 9c1 daily....same on truck but i wont tell more ....promised my mechanic i wouldn't brag

Yo! Im in MD too. I have a 97 hoe that I rebuilt 15 years ago and Im doing it again with a LS swap. If you want the single best performance boost you can do - check out a tune from westers garage. My hoe has headers, tune, intake, manifold gasket, full exhaust but the tune was the best of them all. GL!. Maybe one day Ill pass you on the beltway after Im done.

Have a 08 tacoma v6 and has 213k miles. Seems to run good still but the day it fails if it does, really want a small block motor. Luckily by then it abd my wrx should be paid in full and with promotions my income should be thousands more a month. So just need to stick it out 2-4 years.

I did contemplate getting my caprice ls swapped. They said roughly 10k with a junkyard motor with a cam. I decided to stay traditional smallblock built it for roughly 10k 440c.i. small block. Everyone is ls swapping everything I figured I would be different. I am happy but could of easily made more from ls for lest but I like standing out. I did my tanks inc tank for the sniper efi. Pay extra for the good sender for fuel guage trust me. I gotta drop mine it leaks when full. Same take as your will be notched corners so tank is deeper to accommodate bigger pump. Was a chevelle tank put in my caprice fits good.

That’s a while other can of works basically do you want over drive or not ? And do you want to control it mechanically or electronically if you just cruising you’ll be fine with a 4l60e but if you plan to put some power a 80e or a th400 are great transmisooon

One thing you made sound so cheap is mounting the motor but the thing is all the examples you used were previously v8 vehicles to begin with where it gets very expensive when you do somthing like a Miata because you need brakes and pretty much a new chassis

Well for the cars that I usually work on it’s pretty simple because they already have a Small block Chevy in them or a big block so with just changing the mounts they usually bolt up right up! Never thought about that on cars like miatas! How much is it

Like I have a 2003 Yukon XL it runs and drives like new it has everything you need for complete swap when they be talking about Tuning it's just doesn't make sense because you have a complete swap it's just like when you take the battery out the car and you put the battery back in the car the car starts on point like it should

Not always true. Your car might have a different gear ratio stuff like that that may need to be tuned. If your just throwing your Ls mostly stock then yeah you can get away without a tune but you’ll have to cut up your harness and unlock your computer. But if your camming it or doing any performance modification you need a tune

I have a 1999 chevy suburban with the 350, I bought a 350 out of a running c10 pick up 1987 my question is they should just swap with no problem using all accessories from the existing 350 ???
