Please post update videos, theres no real brz ls swap playlists. Everyone gives up after the first or second video, id love to see all the steps you take in the swap :)
Good luck dude! I got a 2015 BRZ that I'm considering an LS3 swap on so I"m definitely interested to keep on checking out your progress to learn as much as I can!
Great start! Thanks for sharing. I'm contemplating on a gen v LT1 as crate prices dropped dramatically. Also, I'd like to keep the returnless DI functionality of the FA20.
Dude! You are awesome! Thanks for filming this, and good luck with the build. I do want to see the way you run the ecu, the type of trans you will use, and axels. Cant wait to see how it all turns out.
ENCINAS g thanks! And i went with the driveshaft shop axles and used an is300 diff and welded it since it has a little better final drive ratio for the cd009 and all the low end torque of the engine. Also im using the stock ecu
Would it not be a good idea to do any type of engine swap on a newer 86/FRS/brz? I have a 2019 86 only 13k miles on the engine and would hate to go through all this trouble to find out that I could’ve had the car last a lot longer had i not put a older used motor in it or does it not really make that much of a difference, I’ve always followed the rule of as long as you take care of it and maintain it you’ll get plenty of use out of it, but I’ve always loved these engine swaps either 2jz or LS don’t matter, always cool to see something like an 86 go from 4 cylinder to 8 lol and have a shit ton more power, I guess the end goal for my car was to sorta make it a show car, would love to put it in car shows and or go to meets and just let people check it out but I’d also love to get years of driving out of it, I don’t track the car or drift or race just a fun Sunday driver is all
You can do it on a newer one too, just know that it takes alot of work and its a learning process if you have never done it before. Once you get it running and driving right though it is super rewarding
@@WildSlideDrift from the research you’ve done and the experiences you’ve gone through, has there been any cases or complaints that show doing an engine swap can in some cases shorten the lifespan of a newer vehicle? I understand these motors are used and are in most cases coming off of 15-20 year old vehicles but I just got my 86 about 2 months ago and this would definitely be a fun project to work on over time, just didn’t wanna put all this time and effort into it only to find out maybe a year or two from now that old engine I put in it doesn’t hold up anymore, I guess I’d still hang on to the original engine Incase but idk
@@T12DELAY it depends on how you do the swap. I have seen plenty of street cars do swaps and keep it ad oem as possible and it worked great. In my case, i stripped everything and made it all myself so i ran into problems. As of now, the car has been really great and only has issues if i try to change something or mess with stuff. Engine wise, just rebuild it and have it done right. Then it will last a long time.
@@WildSlideDrift roger that, thanks for the info, I’ll check out the rest of the playlist when I can otherwise I’ll research as much as I can for a while before diving into this
It prevents valve float and also just makes them more durable. You dont want to go with a super heavy spring without a racing cam with the proper lobes though, otherwise you will get alot of wear. Im running a single spring thats a little stiffer than stock since im using an oem ls3 cam
To anyone that's finished an engine swap like this on junkyard parts and other necessary components, what's your rough guess on cost and time? Have a freak incident with my car so this is starting to become a realistic solution to getting it running for me again. Please and thanks. \m/
Itamajano the only one that would is the fuel gauge, everything else would need a canbus converter to read the ls stuff. Im not sure about the wheel speed sensors either, idk if it also uses engine speed or something weird for the speedo
@@WildSlideDrift nice! Seems like mine will fit too then 🤣. You have been a life savior. You have no idea how happy I was when you got the 500 sub then 1000. Keep growing, don’t stop. Start vloging.
@@TrojanLube69 thanks dude! Ya the youtube algorithm sucks so ive lost some motivation since recent videos get a fraction of the views some of the older ones get. Ill make some more soon though
